Bourne Wood Manor Care Home provides a pleasant environment and welcomed my elderly mother and provided excellent care and as she says she is treated with such dignity. The staff are so helpful, kind and friendly. She is fortunate to have a room that leads out to a well-kept garden and enhances the
feeling of space. Wonderful food is provided beautifully presented. The activities are well thought out and much enjoyed by the residents. The laundry has been a bit of a problem as clothes have been lost possibly inadequately labelled. A very caring home for the elderly.

We chose this home because of an experience of another home run by the same provider, as well as the services and the rooms that they offer. The latter was the most important as we wanted a ground floor room that opened up into a garden that included trees in the view. My mum really likes our choice.
My
mother's mental being has definitely improved since she has stayed in the home.
Whilst the home has met most expectations we have experienced a few issues. For example, communication across and between departments is not great. It has been difficult to get a clear understanding of her wellbeing and admin issues are dealt by teams emailing each other rather than talking face to face. We have an ongoing issue trying to get a hearing aid replaced. None of the staff took ownership of the issue despite me asking and having arranged a solution.

We could not be happier with the care our mother receives at Bourne Wood Manor. To have to put our mother in a home was such a heartbreaking decision but to know she's has been so well cared for makes the world of difference. The staff here are genuinely amazing and caring, they are so helpful and nothing
is too much trouble.

We loved the look of Bourne Wood when it was first built, so when the time came for Dad to get extra help it was our obvious choice. We were surprised at how well he settled in, even though initially he wasn’t sure. It is such a relief to know all his needs are being taken care of.

I recently visited my friend at the home after nearly a year of not seeing her due to Covid and not living near enough to travel. It was just as welcoming as my previous visits and staff took the time to speak to me, offering coffee and cake in the lovely bistro area.
We were able to sit outside in
the garden and chat and reminisce about the old times we had shared. We also had a walk around looking at the flowers that people had grown in the lovely garden.
Whilst I was there the activities ladies were helping people join in with an art session on the patio and they were having great fun and obviously enjoying it.
My friend still seems very happy here and has made friends with a some other people. Everybody seemed well looked after and content. It was hard to say goodbye again.

I came to the care home for an eight-week stay. It was clean, and the facilities were good. I thought because of Covid, things were difficult, but the food was quite bland and always similar. The staff are required to do too much, so aren't always able to assist in detail with more complex matters.
This can lead to some tension and disagreement, which is unfortunate, as everyone is trying to do their best. I am grateful for the help I received, however. Thank you.

My husband, who has dementia, spent four weeks as a respite resident in Bourne Wood Manor. The site is beautifully furnished, with excellent facilities. These, however, do not match the care my husband experienced. For four weeks he had not been shaven or had his fingernails cut. His state of personal
hygiene left a lot to wish for. Nobody helped him to get dressed either, despite me asking the carers to do so as he finds this difficult and confusing. It would have been better if he had had help with washing rather than waiting service at the dining table. His mental and physical needs were not addressed at all as they are not tailored to the resident's needs and abilities.
The Bourne Wood Manor might be for an excellent place for residents with no mental issues but not so good for people with dementia.

Bourne Wood provided good, stable accommodation for an 8-week stay between release from hospital and a return to Australia.
It was clean, warm and safe with helpful staff and everybody working hard to do the right thing.

We were looking for a place for my 96-year-old mother and we’re delighted with Bourne Wood Manor. The facilities are excellent and modern. She had a lovely sunny room on the ground floor with a small patio.
The staff were very caring and attentive.

My brother and I had to make the difficult decision of moving our mother into a care home.
We did this during a Covid lockdown period which meant we were unable to visit the home and had to rely on virtual tours, and brochures.
Our main contact with the home was with the client services manager who
was a great help and supported us through Mother's induction to the home in a friendly but professional way. This has been the case with all other staff members we have interacted with since Mother entered the home.
Mother is happy in the home and enjoys the company of other residents. This was one of the reasons we decided on residential care as after losing her husband of 67 years Mother's main fear was of loneliness.

I have found the level of care and attention at Bourne Wood Manor to be extremely good especially during lockdown, where all members of staff have been very helpful and kept me informed of mum's wellbeing and care needs. On the occasions that I have managed to visit under strict Covid regulations, mum
has had constant visits from staff for care monitoring and catering needs, so is always being attended to. Everyone is always ready to help and I always receive a warm welcome on arrival. A very nice atmosphere and environment.

My mother-in-law went into Bourne Wood Manor direct from hospital and at very short notice when we realised that a care home was the only viable option. The admission process was very straightforward and efficient which was a huge relief to me. Bourne Wood Manor is beautifully appointed, more like a
comfortable hotel than a care home (and the prices reflect this). My mother-in-law was suffering from a particularly debilitating condition and was unable to enjoy any of the lovely facilities available to residents. However, she was looked after very well. The laundry service is superb, along with the hairdressing and the food was excellent. Sadly my mother-in-law passed away after six months in Bourne Wood Manor having become rather confused at the end. Despite Covid restrictions and not being able to see her at all myself, I am confident that Bourne Wood Manor made her last days as comfortable as possible.
The car park is very small.

The home has coped extremely well during the lockdown. two managers have left but a new one has started in October and a completely new management team set up. I feel that once settled they will be excellent as the home now needs stability. The food has kept to its excellent high standard. Activities
section needs sorting out as this is so important for the residents, especially as visitors are limited at the moment. very high standard of care.

This has been my second visit of 2/3 weeks convalescence after a small operation. I have received nothing but kindness and care during this time with a lovely room overlooking the garden. I am always happy here and feel sad at having to leave. many thanks to everyone at Bourne Wood Manor. I do hope

October 2020 was a special month for my mother as it included her birthday of 100 years. This review formally relates to this event. The care home was outstanding in the way in which they staged this event for her and on our behalf. The visitor's dining room was beautifully decorated, a cake was made
looking splendid and there were generous gifts of flowers, prosecco and chocolates. All the staff we met on that day were so welcoming to us making a day we worried about simply wonderful. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Annie Russell, and I am the Client Service Manager here at Bourne Wood Manor.


I studied at Godalming College, where I completed A-levels in Sociology and Hospitality. Through my studies, I developed strong customer service skills and consistently achieved high targets. My educational background has given me a solid foundation in understanding people and meeting their needs effectively.


I started working in the care sector due to my personal experience of helping my family find care for my grandparents. This experience has been deeply impactful and has equipped me with the qualities needed to be a trustworthy and compassionate person to speak to. It has also fuelled my passion for providing the best possible care and support to residents and their families.


In my free time, I enjoy spending quality moments with my friends and family. We love going on new adventures, whether it is exploring new places, trying out new activities or simply enjoying each other's company. These experiences have enriched my life and have helped me to become a more empathetic and understanding person.

Hello, my name is Alison Darch, and I am the Activities and Wellbeing Lead here at Bourne Wood Manor Care Home.


I have been working in the care sector for 23 years, taking care of residents in other care homes and supporting seniors in a domiciliary environment. I have an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, and I am currently on a leadership programme. I am also due to start a NAPA training course that focuses on person-centred activities and engagement in the new year.


I am a spiritual and creative individual, which I feel assists in my role. I am incredibly passionate about organising activities and events that enhance the day-to-day lives of our residents.
