During lockdown the staff have been amazing with organising visits efficiently and in a caring and friendly manner. Carers have done their best but I feel more are needed.

I obviously do not have knowledge of all facilities and care. My experiences of my visits to see my aunt have always been excellent. I would certainly recommend this care home.

My wife and I have been so very grateful to staff and managers for looking after my Dad, who is blind and very hard of hearing. He was made to feel very welcome and kept his dignity because he was treated with respect and a great deal of patience by the care staff. The facilities at Grace Care Centre
are excellent and kept my Dad safe and happy during a very challenging time. Thanks again.

My mother was at Grace Care Centre (Thornbury) for over a year. During that time, the love and care she received was wonderful. Staff went above and beyond. We are so pleased that Mum enjoyed her time there and was so well looked after.

From the manager visiting the hospital to ask Mum what help she would like from them, the whole approach has been to put the resident first and in control. The staff are caring, patient, friendly and smiling. As visitors, we are treated as part of a family, invited to events and activity days and welcome
to visit at any time. Mum hated the thought of moving into care but has said to us, 'thank heavens for places like this'.

Mum moved to Grace Care Centre (Thornbury) quickly from assisted living accommodation. She settled in exceptionally well to her new happy, clean surroundings - choosing her colour scheme for her spacious sunny fitted room overlooking the pretty gardens. Mum looks forward to our visits to share use of
the coffee shop, cake! in lobby or dining sitting areas. Making use of cinema and joining in with many activities upstairs and coffee areas as well as gardens. Friendly, welcoming staff/nurses and management. Nothing too much and always around to help and provide support. A lovely team. Cannot wish any more for mum. Thank you!

Mum recently moved into Grace Care Centre and I cannot fault the level of care she receives. She is treated with dignity and respect and the staff are always friendly. There is always something going on and activities are well organised by dedicated activity co-ordinators. Mum has become less anxious
as a result of being fully occupied. Her room is spacious and she has been able to bring in all her favourite pictures and ornaments. I feel my mum is in the best place she can be.

Grace Care Centre is a modern, clean and welcoming facility with caring and friendly staff. Whilst we are confident that our brother is being well cared for and is loved by the staff, we do recognise that at times the staff are challenged by staffing ratios and demands.

I don't think my dad would disagree if I said he was a challenging chap to deal with, probably why he has lived for 91 years despite strokes, Parkinson's and various other medical conditions. At Grace Care Centre he has found staff who try very hard to make him feel at home, who do their very best to
deal with him with respect and oft-needed humour. The activities on offer are fabulous and the whole place is beautifully clean and bright. My dad is lucky to be there.

I find all the staff friendly and caring towards the residents. The kitchen staff, cleaners, odd job man all know the residents and treat them like their own mothers. There is a very, very, creative activities team who like to include all residents as best they can. There are many outings and guest
speakers/choirs. I am really pleased with the way my mum is looked after.

Upon entering the home today - I was greeted with a very welcoming smile from the receptionist. Once signed in and making my way through to the lift, amongst residents chatting, laughing, some doing activities, some reading papers, all content and happy - staff engaging and interacting with residents
- the overall warmth and feeling, as always, fills me with joy - when I took out my great aunt for the afternoon, they ensured correct medication was in place and she was wrapped up well. 100% pure care and dedicated staff.

My husband's visit was good, except that when we turned up at the time agreed, the management team had not appeared to tell the team, hence we were not expected and there was a certain amount of chaos. They did recover but it was an unpleasant experience.

Mum has been a resident at Grace Care since January 2019. It was with some concern that the decision was made but we need not have worried. Grace Care is quite simply that 'Gracefully Caring' All staff are cheerful and enthusiastic and there seems little that is too much trouble for them. The activities
programme provides stimulus and all residents are encouraged to take part - this also includes trips out. The home itself is bright and cheery and the rooms spacious and light. Mum has settled in well and there is little doubt that all these factors have helped. We would not hesitate in recommending this home to others.

My mum has been a resident at Grace Care since July 2018 and settled surprisingly quickly into her new environment. This is due not only to the genuine care and compassion shown by the staff but also the upbeat sense of fun that is evident everywhere.
Mum looks on the carers as true friends and told
me that she no longer fears developing dementia since she has seen the care and kindness shown to those residents.
Mum was also so grateful to the manager for visiting her in hospital and reassuring her that they were all looking forward to her return.
Grace care is a new purpose-built, beautifully furnished home that truly caters for all the resident's needs.

My first visit took place a day before I was due to collect a relative from respite. The arrangements, having been made by another family member. It seemed that every detail had been considered in the design of this new home and together, with the friendly, willing and professional staff. I could not
have been happier to find my relative so well cared for in a safe and cheerful environment.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.339)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.339) out of 10 for Grace Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.755 for Grace Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.755

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.584 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grace Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.784

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
