As the user's carer and wife, I found the care home very friendly, homely and helpful. I have filled in the below boxes as my husband would have no idea about what had happened to him the past 11 days. I think that I may have given too many clothes and perhaps a clearer idea of what is needed may be
useful. I will certainly use the centre again. It would be interesting to have known what activities were attended.

My husband had an enjoyable time staying at Grace Care Centre. Although he has dementia he noted a few things that he would like to see happen. He needs structure and organisation to his life and would like to see a "dementia clock" in reception so that he can be reminded of the day, date and time,
and mealtimes to be on display. When an activity was to happen he says he didn't know where it was taking place. He mentioned the constant ringing of the phone at reception which often went unanswered.
Also, he said several of the residents were fearful a particular resident would barge at them in her wheelchair.
Everything else was wonderful, the staff very friendly and the food good, the bedroom superb.
Staff very attentive so he is looking forward to next time.
Thank you all.

I have worked in private care homes myself as a nurse in the past and I feel that Grace Care Centre offers a very high standard of care. It is however not full and I wonder if it were, whether the patients/clients would receive the same standard of care. My Mother in Law is happy there at present as
she is given a lot of attention and everyone is very pleasant but they are not busy yet.

Following four months in hospital, my mother came to Grace Care Centre for two weeks before moving to another care home. She loved it straight away. The carers we came into contact with that first week gave me complete confidence that my mother was going to be safe and well looked after and within a
short time, it became difficult to think of moving her. I could not wish for better care or support from everyone who works at Grace, and after such a stressful and distressing time for us, this has given us both some peace of mind.

Thank you to everyone who has made my mother (and me) feel so welcome, well loved and cared for.

The staff are helpful and attentive and have enabled my mother to feel comfortable. Her condition has improved and she needs the stimuli that the staff (through activities) can offer. Hopefully, this will continue even as the care home gets busier. The fees are above average so I would expect the good
standard to be maintained.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.339)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.339) out of 10 for Grace Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.755 for Grace Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.755

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.584 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grace Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.784

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
