My relative moved in when the care home was brand new. It was immaculate like a five star hotel. However today my relative's room was very dirty. The curtains had been pulled off and a sheet hanging. Her clothes were messy in the chest of drawers. The crash mat was soiled. Really paying six thousand
pounds a month should be a much better standard of cleanliness and respect for property clothing wise and decor of room. Standards seem to have slipped.

Astbury Manor Care Home has looked after my mother for two and a half years, and I can honestly say I have never been happier. The staff are so brilliant with her. I could not wish for a better home for her. Through this pandemic, the staff have been angels to my mother; I can't thank them enough. Thank
you again, Astbury Manor.

My mum has been at Astbury for over 6 months and I can't thank the staff and management enough for the care that she has received especially during such difficult times. I do not live in the country so it is such a relief for me to know that she is so well cared for, safe and happy.

When you can no longer care for someone you love what can you do? You need them to be cared for with kindness, not just care, and if possible, with love. When your loved one becomes a resident at "Astbury Manor Care Home" this is what you get. The carers and staff are like a family. This is how the
residents are treated, the needs of each resident are different but the carers skillfully and lovingly deal with them. Thank you so much Astbury Manor carers.

First use of the home. Came recommended by a family friend, who has used previously.
Urgently needed 2 weeks respite care that was fulfilled in a friendly and professional manner. From the first call on the evening of 23/12/19 to my mother moving in some 12 hours later by lunch on 24/12/19, all staff
from domestics, through to care professionals and management, evidenced excellent personal touch.

My mother initially came to Astbury in November for respite after a fall. Walking into the home residents and visitors are made to feel welcome and the home has a vibrant feel. My mother is being well cared for, from what I have witnessed the staff are caring and treat my mother with dignity. Her room
and the facilities are very good, comfortable, clean and easy to navigate and understand for clients with cognitive impairment. There are always activities going on and options to choose for personal well-being and dignity, such as the visiting hairdresser. I feel confident that she is safe there and the staff are encouraging her to remain as independent as is possible and to be as involved as possible with daily activities.

I cannot thank everybody enough for the love and care shown to my mother since she became a resident in October 2019. As I live in Birmingham it is a huge weight off my shoulders to know that she is now safe and secure due to wanderings stemmed from her Dementia. She is so happy there and it's lovely
to see her beaming smile on the social media pictures. Thank you so much to everybody. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.

My daughter and I, having visited several other care homes, many of which were good - had no doubt that Astbury Manor was the best home for our loved one. We were right.
The building itself is so airy and spacious and the atmosphere is warm and cheerful. More, in particular, the staff are always helpful
and seem happy in their jobs. Bedroom, food, activities are all excellent.

I came here for respite care following a major operation for bowel cancer. I have had 3 weeks of complete relaxation and no responsibilities which have speeded up my recovery. There is a lovely, warm atmosphere, everyone knows your name, smiles abound. Activities are there if you want to join in. The
care and kindness shown to those who have problems is second to none.

Having the need for a break we were initially worried as to how to care for mum whilst we were away.
The staff, however, made the process so easy for us.
Knowing she was in a safe, well-managed home meant we could relax and recharge.
Wonderful staff and care, thank you so much.

My parents were at Astbury for 1 week. They enjoyed their time there and said that staff were very nice. Food choices were good too.

They would have liked more frequent film afternoons and perhaps have more activities like painting, drawing, needlecraft and knitting.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.318)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.318) out of 10 for Astbury Manor Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.903 for Astbury Manor Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.903

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.415 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astbury Manor Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.615

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
