A very warm welcome by all staff. An excellent place for mental and physical wellbeing. My health has improved gradually. If ever I became ill again I would wish to return here. It feels more like home.

My elderly parents were anxious and fragile whilst mum was in hospital for a week having a knee replacement. The staff cared for my dad (who has Parkinson's) with empathy and compassion and patience until mum's discharge. During mum's two week convalescence, they continued to be mindful of their physical
and emotional vulnerability and preempted their needs. The manager was clearly very experienced, highly professional and her staff responded to that authority. She struck the right balance of empathy and sympathy and an awareness of the need to challenge and motivate both of them in what was a very stressful and worrying period of their lives. My siblings and I felt confident that mum and dad were being cared for in a safe, clean, beautiful and comfortable environment by staff who were engaged and enthusiastic which lifted a huge burden from us. More like a luxury hotel with 24-hour room service than a care home.

Job Title: General Manager

What I do:
I am the General Manager of Rectory Court, as such I have the overall responsibility of the home with the support from my team. My role can vary from day to day and no two days are ever the same .


My experience:
I have been working in the care industry for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant then going back to further education to become a manager first for Suffolk County Council and then into the private sector. I have a passion for Dementia care and hold an advanced Dementia training qualification in addition I have a Dementia mapping qualification which I undertook with Bradford University.


About me:
I am 55 and have been married for over 30 years to Adrian a teacher, I have two sons Tim and Tom both currently studying at university. I am a highly competitive person who likes to succeed. I love to shop and find a bargain!

What I do:


I’m the Deputy Manager for Rectory Court, supporting the Manager in the smooth operations of the home.


Experience:


I have 27 years’ experience in the health & social care sector, working in learning disability services as well as elderly care. I am also a qualified tutor and have taught many subjects within the sector. Starting as a care assistant, I have experience in almost all roles within social care.


About Me:


I relocated to the Kent countryside 4 years ago, and live a less stressful life in West Malling, with my husband of almost 2 years. I did make him wait 11 years before I finally said yes! We share our lives with our two cats. I enjoy the quieter life, and we spend a lot of our spare time walking and discovering new areas of Kent.

Job Title: Home Admissions Advisor

I’m Home Admissions Advisor for both Leah Lodge and Rectory Court. I started with Cinnamon in 2019 and more recently I am part-time due to having two small children at home.


I help families and potential residents through their journey of considering a care home for their loved ones. I consider it a privilege to be able to advise people on such a difficult and emotional journey.


I have worked in care now for 7 years and my role is a varied and enjoyable one. Previous to this I was an estate agent, working in different roles around the property for the majority of my career.


I am originally from the Wirral and I moved to London with my husband in 2015 due to a promotion for him. We now have a 5-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter who keep us busy most of the time. We enjoy going on holiday and socialising with friends whenever we get the chance.

What I Do:
I’m the head chef here at Rectory Court I started as a 2nd chef and was delighted to become Head Chef; my role now is to work closely with my team and all our residents to provide a nutritional and healthy menu with the odd treat. I liaise with our residents to find out their likes and dislikes and provide an alternative meal of their choice if they wish. Me and my team will always aim to please and provide a good dining experience.


My Experience:
I have 6 years of experience working in catering and have enjoyed every moment, learning new things all the time. I have a BETEC level 2 in hospitality and catering and an NVQ level 2 in kitchen services and food safety.


About Me:
When I’m not working I spend time with my three sons and visiting my family, I like socialising with my friends and having a good meal out with somebody else cooking.
