  • COVID-19 visiting: to minimise the risks of infection to residents and staff and other visitors, the home have put restricted visiting in place. The home have created an area in the garden where residents can meet their visitors, safe from the elements. The visits are by appointment only. Visitors must ring the home in advance to give staff ample time to organise this.
    Rules to follow:
    1) Only visit during the allocated time slot
    2) Only 2 visitors at a time,
    3) Visitors must wear a face mask and maintain social distancing whilst visiting,
    4) Limit visits to 50 minutes maximum, to allow others to visit as well,
    5) Meal times remain protected and the home ask that visits or phone calls are not made at these times.
    Exceptions to these visiting rules, will only be allowed in special circumstances e.g. if someone is poorly or receiving End of Life Care and after discussion with the Home Manager.
    Ambika Lodge may review the access to the home if the guidance from the Government changes .

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the staff at Ambika for looking after Mum for the 4 years she was with them, she was treated with the utmost respect, care and consideration and she loved each and every one of them.
Sadly Mum passed away in late November but I am happy that she got
to spend her final days at what she called her "home".
I would absolutely recommend this care home.

My wife was granted a week's respite care at Ambika Lodge. We had no knowledge of the nursing home prior to the visit, we were greeted with warm smiling faces from all the staff who worked hard to give the very best, professional care possible, it was a lovely experience for my wife and we thank them
all for there hard work and expertise in taking care of her.

I am finding it difficult to adequately express my gratitude to all the staff at Ambika Lodge for the care and kindness my sister is receiving. She has been there for almost 5 months now. She has severe learning difficulties and mobility problems and is totally reliant on them for all her needs.
The
food is very good - freshly cooked, nutritious and delicious and the home is kept spotlessly clean.

Mum has been living in Ambika Lodge Care Home for almost three years and is very happy there. The staff, without exception, are excellent and so very kind to Mum and me. There are some great activities for the residents, sadly now, Mum doesn’t always want to join in but the staff go out of their way
to make sure Mum is included even if that is as simple as sitting and talking to her in her room which means the world to Mum. I feel very fortunate that Mum lives at Ambika.

My father was admitted eighteen months ago and to date, he has received the most caring and professional assistance from all of the staff. All his needs and frustrations are always taken into account and the staff have always contacted us, as a family, if there have been any issues and are always reassuring

Ambika Lodge Care Home is like a home from home, my mum has been there for just over a year and the staff go above and beyond for residents. This was the second home my mum was placed in but I wouldn't choose anywhere else.

Fantastic service from all staff, go out of their way to accommodate anything needed.

Lovely home to be in, lovely carers. The home has a nice atmosphere. The food is home-cooked and delicious. The home is very clean, also the activities are a lot of fun.

My mum was found on the floor at 4.20 am after a fall on the 23rd January 2021. She had an already existing severe lung problem COPD, and recovering from Covid caught while in their care and pre-existing spinal injury. After being found collapsed on the floor, she was unable to stand up. She was hoisted
back into her bed and an ambulance wasn't called for until 8 am. The ambulance was not informed of her fall and the length of time left there at -2 degrees before being found, so therefore unable to pass on important information to the hospital. My mum passed away sadly later that day in the hospital. The home was asked not to touch her belongings until after the funeral and I offered to pay for the room. Ongoing to pack her belongings away after her funeral at the end of February 2021 they had part packed her belongings and some sentimental items were broken and someone else had been using her room and bed. I can no longer recommend home.

It is sad that you haven’t given the full facts of what happened. We understand it is hard for you as it is the 1st anniversary. We explained to you on several occasions what happened. You thanked us by saying how “welcome and happy” your mum felt and that you “would always recommend the home to anyone”. She was found kneeling on the floor by her bed and was checked over. Staff assisted her back to bed at her request, as she had no injuries and was feeling weak. At about 8 am, our nurse felt that she would benefit from an assessment at the hospital as her Oxygen levels had dropped. It took a lot of persuading to convince her to go. The paramedics were informed of the incident as part of their assessment. Ambulance crews and the hospital have to report any concerns and raised none. You made similar allegations to CQC, this was investigated and a response was sent to you. You didn’t collect her belongings for nearly a month. We didn't charge you. Your mum is sadly missed.

I have been visiting Ambika Lodge for nearly two months visiting a friend who was placed here after being discharged from hospital with end of life care. I have seen through loving care, the amazing response in my friend. You look around and you see how residents are valued, loved with compassion and
with dignity. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.

The unit is extremely well run and you are made to feel you are part of a family. I went to several other units after nearly dying of coronavirus. No other unit was better than this one.

Dad seems to be happy and settled in well. Due to his condition, he requires twenty-four-hour nursing care. The staff are friendly, professional, and have a good relation with Dad.
He also seems to respond to the staff. The care home is clean and the staff are helpful, keep us informed on Dad's condition.
We are very happy, in the circumstances.

Mum has been at Ambika Lodge about three years now and I can honestly say that the care she receives is unbelievable. The standard of cleanliness is always first class which is down to the hard work by the cleaning staff, the caring staff are always really friendly and nothing is too much bother when
you are visiting, refreshments are always available to make your visit enjoyable. The canteen facilities are always spotless and the meals that are supplied always look and smell really nice. The rooms are spacious and kept really spotless and all mum's possessions are kept safe with the utmost care. Even through this difficult period of the last 11 months, the management keeps us updated with everything that is going on with a WhatsApp group showing us all the events that the carers arrange for the residents. Overall I can’t recommend Ambika Lodge highly enough for anyone that is looking for the best care for their loved ones.

Well...where do I start? in January 2020 I had to make the difficult decision to be placed in a nursing placement for respite due to health decline, at just 30 years old this was not easy, but what was I worried about? From the time I entered Ambika Lodge, I was pleasantly surprised. At the time of
coming to the home I had some very complex health conditions but I felt safe and well cared for straight away. Everyone was so friendly to both staff and residents. This is a family-run care home and I still feel part of the family even though I have left now.
The nurses are very knowledgeable and caring to all residents. The care staff take everything in their stride and nothing is too much trouble.
The housekeeper also does a great job of keeping the home clean and fresh, every day she goes above and beyond her job role. Even better, her morning cup of tea bought to me in bed is the best I have ever tasted!
Well done everyone and a massive thank you!
