Layston Grove continues to welcome new residents for residential and residential dementia care both on a permanent basis and for shorter stays.

Located in the market town of Buntingford, Layston Grove care home provides friendly and comfortable residential and dementia care for up to 66 residents. The home is located in a quiet residential area, with good access to transport links and local amenities.

Layston Grove is purpose-built and benefits from facilities such as a bar area, hair and beauty salon and is situated in private and secure gardens. Each bedroom benefits from fitted furniture and an en suite wet room.

The Lifestyle Team get to know each resident, working with them and their loved ones to create activity programmes so day-to-day life is as each resident wishes. The catering team ensure that mealtimes are sociable and pleasurable times of each day.

I have been impressed by the quality of provision at Layston Grove since it opened and this has continued since the Covid pandemic. From the outset, the management and staff of the home were proactive in keeping residents safe and stopped visiting before other homes did.
Since then staff have gone
over and above in protecting my Aunt and providing a full programme of activities to keep her and the other residents stimulated and happy. Contact has been encouraged through phone calls, video chats and even web get-togethers.The social media page is posted almost daily, so that family and friends know what has been going on. The quality of care and support has been very good, and I am confident that has not changed. All staff have always been so welcoming, approachable and keen to help in all circumstances. Their all-inclusive policy is good value for money and makes financial planning easier. I would recommend Layston Grove to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

Cannot thank the team enough for all their dedication and outstanding care is given. The care staff are all utterly devoted to giving the residents the best possible experience, the food is exceptional served by friendly hosts, there is also a lifestyle team that encourage him to take part in some really
wonderful experiences which he thoroughly enjoyed. The housekeepers were all very kind too. Would recommend Layston Grove highly to anyone considering a Care home for a family member.

The staff at Layston Grove is the thing that impresses me the most. Everybody is kind, thoughtful and helpful. The home is very welcoming, clean and warm. The facilities, if you use them, are great.
It is expensive but the set price, all-inclusive is very helpful knowing exactly how much to budget
for on a monthly basis.

I have got to say that the care my mum has received has been excellent. I couldn't have wished for anywhere better than this. All the staff have been absolutely fantastic. I cannot praise them enough. If my mum has to go in again to a care home, Layston Grove would be my very first choice.

Mum had a wonderful stay. It was just the respite she needed. She spoke very highly of the very kind and caring staff, who were attentive but respectful of her wishes as to what she wanted to do. Mum is on a lot of medication and is very good at coping with this. As her daughter, I was concerned that
this medication wasn't always on time and she had to ask to ensure it was given. What if she hadn't been of sound mind?

Layston Grove is highly recommended. Chosen over others despite being located further away due to excellent and correct first impressions. We have no regrets that our mother came here after discharge from hospital and spent the last few weeks of her life in care (dementia) here. The staff immediately
knew our names, and on many occasions, we witnessed high levels of respectful friendly care being given to our mum. All in price per week was not the cheapest, but it was considered good value as it is all-inclusive and the care is high quality. I particularly liked the weekly hairdressing in a house in a quality saloon, weekly hairdo. It is so important a routine for my mother's/generation. Relatives were encouraged to stay for meals and overnight accommodation was arranged as we stayed by our mother's bedside (all free). I wish our mother had been in better health/less advanced dementia as she would have enjoyed participating in many of the various activities that were arranged.

On collecting my mother following her 2-week respite stay, she had nothing but praise for the home and its staff, who I found extremely friendly and helpful. Her room was very comfortable and she enjoyed all her meals. I have already recommended Layston Grove to one of my friends and will continue to
do so. In particular, I found staffing levels very good in comparison to other homes we have used.

I cannot recommend this care home enough, the home is amazing, really calm and beautifully decorated, the management and staff are fantastic, very helpful with any questions I had relating to my family members care, nothing was too much, very attentive and polite, the service and food are brilliant.
I would and have recommended this home to everybody I have spoken to. Myself and my family cannot thank the managers and staff enough for their hard work and dedication to every person that comes through the doors from the start of their stay. Thank you.

This Care Home is wonderful; my Gran is being given the best care. They allow dogs to be taken in, so I can visit with mine and cheer her up. I cannot recommend it enough; the staff are so friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They feel more like friends to the residents which helps with
settling in. The Care Home itself is great; the layout is spot on and the rooms are amazing. It is clean and tidy and has all the little touches to make it feel like home from home; it has a library, a salon and even a cinema! The residents have many outings which is brilliant as it gives them a change of scenery and a feeling of independence. There is a quiet lounge which can be booked out so if you have a special occasion; we booked it out for a pre-Christmas family get-together and it was fabulous. I know that my family can relax as they know that Gran is in a lovely, safe and happy place that she feels is home.

I went to have an exploratory look around Layton Grove for my elderly uncle. I was extremely impressed and about 4-6 weeks later visited again, this time to actually look into Uncle moving in. On my arrival for my second visit, the lady on reception greeted me and then proceeded to say, I believe you
came and saw us before for your uncle and mentioned him by name. Amazing! She made me feel instantly that this was somewhere, where people came first and Uncle would be well cared for.
Gosh, how right was that. Uncle has now lived in Layston Grove for nearly two months and he is so happy. The care is wonderful, the staff are kind, professional, friendly and so caring. His health has improved beyond compare. He has been taken out to lunch, they are taking him shopping in town this week. Everything is excellent and I would totally recommend the home to anyone.

I only know Layston Grove as a visitor but I do know that your care and sensitivity of your staff have brought my mother-in-law back to life. She was at death's door after her accident but now she's firing off emails, writing her book, coming out to see us and even contemplating a trip to London. This

Layston Grove is the most remarkable care home, so glad we found it for mum. The atmosphere when we visit is always so friendly and homely. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much for them. They constantly communicate with, look out for and interact with the residents and their families making
it feel like one big family. The activities they do with the residents are amazing and go way beyond anything I have seen at any other care home, are tailored to the residents and range from amazing unusual crafts to baking, pamper days, entertainment and film nights (with popcorn). They also regularly take the residents out and about including trips out, meals at the pub and afternoon tea, but also normal things like trips to the library and the shops. It really is home from home. Mum still does all the things she used to be able to do and more but now in a very very effective and pleasurable assisted living environment. I can't fault it. I would live there myself if I could.

Mum moved into Layston Grove in May 2018 after many weeks in hospital respite. From day one we have been constantly impressed by the facilities and care provided at the home. All staff are approachable, friendly and extremely professional in looking after Mum. As yet, there are many opportunities provided
within the home and around the local town and the staff are doing their best to get Mum to join in.

Mum moved in during 1st week so a few teething problems to start obviously. She has settled and enjoys being pampered on Fridays by the hairdresser. She had a front seat in the Cinema room to watch the Royal wedding and enjoys the lovely reception after, as did we. She also enjoyed a 1-1 trip to a local
coffee shop with one of the carers. We also had a family afternoon tea in the tea room with lovely sarnies and cakes. Unfortunately mum had to go into hospital to have a Hernia op n lots of care and sympathy were shown.

The care and consideration given to my brother by the staff and management at Layston Grove has been excellent.
My wife and I visited many care homes prior to Layston Grove but nothing came up to their standard. The only criticism I have is that his room could be vacuumed more regularly, having said
that it is only a minor item.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2019

I have worked in care for 19 years, it was my first job when leaving school and I started as a laundry assistant as I was not old enough to be a care assistant at the time. I joined the care team as soon as I was able and soon worked my way up to care team manager, then deputy manager.


I have worked for the Royal Mencap Society supporting adults with learning disabilities, and as a care practitioner, managing a rehabilitation unit for the elderly as part of a multi-disciplinary team.


I joined Layston Grove in September 2019 when we relocated to Buntingford.


I enjoy working in care as I am passionate about improving the lives of the elderly, I am presented with different challenges daily which keeps me busy and the job fresh and exciting.

Janet has worked in an administrative role within the care industry for many years.
