My 77-year-old mother stayed here for 2 weeks of respite care after a fall had left her hospitalised with a fractured pelvis and pneumonia. It was a godsend and the perfect place on her journey from hospital back to home. The entire place is very high quality and in our opinion worth every penny. Honestly
can’t think of a bad thing to say!

Both my aunt and uncle are residents here and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They were so pleased to be able to enjoy the day with a few close family and friends in the lovely setting of the sky Lounge which the home had decorated and provided a wonderful selection of food including
a very delicious cake. It was lovely to be able to see them enjoying this special milestone together in such a nice place.

My aunt is staying here for a few weeks. Her room is spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were caring and friendly. She spoke of activities that she enjoyed. She seems very comfortable and happy.

My mum spent two and a half weeks in Wandsworth Avery for respite care after a fall and a spell in hospital. The team at Wandsworth were amazing (both very helpful and extremely competent), the environment was lovely and the food was excellent. This has completely changed my perception of care homes.
It felt more like mum was staying at a luxury hotel than in a care home. She had her own suite with bedroom, living room, kitchenette and bathroom. And the facilities were incredible from the quality of the restaurant and cafe to the in house cinema!
I would thoroughly recommend Wandsworth Avery to anyone looking for a care home; I’ve never seen anything quite like it.

Avery provided a superb level of care for my mum who was in for respite care following a bad fall and severe pneumonia. The staff were caring and attentive, especially the client liaison manager who made sure that all her needs were met at very short notice.
The home is welcoming and more than comfortable.

My aunt and I spoke to the new senior commissioning. Manager today who I found extremely helpful and understanding and ingoing to sort out a problem with my aunt's hearing aids (she doesn't have any). I would give him 10 out of 10.

I always found during my husband's residency here that the staff have always been welcoming and helpful to me and my husband likes his time here and they are very helpful too. All in all it's an excellent place and I look forward to when I am more incapacitated to live here myself.

My mother settled in very quickly largely due to the wonderful staff. They are welcoming and relaxed which made it an easy transition. The home is very comfortable with fantastic amenities, including a cinema, cafe and sitting rooms off the main area that residents can use with their visitors if they
want privacy. The rooms/flats are spacious and light, the food is excellent and the activities are "spot on". Art classes, history of art lectures, poetry readings and an eclectic array of musicians who come to play in the afternoons. The staff go above and beyond to ensure the residents feel included and that there is always something interesting to take part in should they choose. It's Christmas and the home looks beautifully festive. We could not be more grateful to have found somewhere where our mother is truly happy.

My mother came to Wandsworth Common Care Home for just under two weeks, while I travelled for work. She has no greater care needs than any other 92-year-old with a slow memory and a bag of pills! The care home is more like a hotel with beautifully appointed rooms and common areas, a cinema and a hairdresser.
The staff were amazing, kind, thoughtful and always on hand. The food was good, even for a picky eater, and the family were welcome to have meals with her too when they came to visit. Mum is from Yorkshire, so the compliments don't flow easily, but even she said she enjoyed it and would come back! My threats to put her in a care home, every time she dead heads my prize flowers will hold little sway now! Thank you to everyone for looking after her and giving me peace of mind.

My father stayed for a two week respite in the dementia ward at Wandsworth Common Care Home. Arrangements and communication with management in organising the stay was seamless. Every time I visited my father seemed well cared for in a peaceful relaxed atmosphere on the 4th floor. All the carers are
lovely, interacting with kindness with the residents and they all knew of my father’s specific needs. It was a relief to know he was well cared for.

The care is second to none, the activities are just up her street and we always love the food every time we come to join her for a meal. The fact they have a driver to take her to appointments

What impresses me so much about this care home is that they actually care. This seems to be driven from the top by the leader of the team. Despite the fact that the home is immaculate, luxurious, attractive, well equipped and furnished - all that is not as important in my opinion as the attitude and
values of all the team members I have met. They truly value the individual in their care. They want them to be as independent and happy as they possibly can be and they are passionate about making the care home experience the best they can for sometimes very vulnerable residents. I especially valued their kindness and sensitivity in helping me, at very short notice, move my very elderly aunt into the home and they were so kind to her and to us. I’m so impressed and very grateful. Thank you to the manager and team.

On the surface, it's fabulous - lovely interior spaces and rooms and nice staff but there are a number of issues. Firstly, Avery wants to fill it up but not increase carers so the wonderful carers are spread too thin and many of them have been given duties that should be done by nurses. Agency staff
are frequently used but not given basic training to do things to a certain standard.
Secondly, the home promises lots of extras all included in the price e.g. outings, a cinema, good food, but that's not the reality. The majority of residents say they are unhappy with the quality of the food, there is now only a part-time driver, so no one has been out for months. The movie subscription got suspended. They take a direct debit every month but, despite asking persistently, residents are not given itemised bills. There is no refund to the residents for not delivering on all the things they promise; everything the owners fail to deliver on simply helps their profit margin grow.

I thoroughly appreciated my stay at Avery's Very friendly staff., excellent atmosphere and well looked after throughout. With the exception of a few carers (mostly Temporary), all were most helpful and nothing was too much trouble

I am a Registered Nurse with 16 years of experience in frontline healthcare and, having worked in a broad range of settings I have developed a passion for exceptional service in the care industry.


I started my career in A+E having previously worked as a multi-site quality assurance Matron at Bart’s Trust and as Site General Manager at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. More recently I have managed many nursing and specialist dementia care homes.

Having worked for eleven years in similar roles for other luxury care providers, I am thrilled to represent Avery Collection at Wandsworth Common as a Customer Liaison Manager. I have a track record of success, having taken a challenged home to its highest-ever occupancy in a previous role. As a Dementia Champion, I am also committed to helping those living with memory loss, having previously helped set up a regional Dementia Action Alliance with a local church.


Avery Collection are known as the best in terms of quality of care and quality of design, and in these areas as well as many others they are always one step ahead of other care providers. This ethos is one I share, and I am delighted to be working for the best provider in the business.


In my role, I am the first point of contact for families seeking care. I am dedicated to using my knowledge and experience to act as a guide and to help families through what can be a difficult time of life.


Avery Collection at Wandsworth Common is a truly special home, as this level of care is not usually available in such a central, accessible location. I started my journey in to care six years ago when I joined as a care assistant. I loved my role there and put my heart and soul into ensuring the residents were happy and enjoyed the quality of life they deserved. I was then promoted to lead carer with the responsibility of a team of 14 carers, which I continued to do for the next four years.


I would drive past Wandsworth Common every day on my way to work and thought maybe one day I may end up working there as it was closer to home. When they opened I applied as a care supervisor and was overjoyed to get the role as many people had applied. Six months later I was promoted to my current role as residential care manager and I’m loving every minute! I have a fabulous and very experienced care team around me and I also feel very supported from the management team in the home who are always go that extra mile to help and get involved. I am the type of person who will roll up my sleeves and help wherever I’m needed and knowing that all my residents are well looked after gives me a massive sense of satisfaction.


I feel extremely proud and honoured to work in such a beautiful home with a friendly atmosphere and great people.


Out of work I love to spend time with my family and friends. I have three children who have all grown up now and have their own families of which I am very proud. I also have two beautiful granddaughters, one 10 years old and one of 8 months, my family are the most important things in my life. Outside of work I love meeting with friends over a glass or two of bubbly as the perfect way to relax!

Caring has always been a big part of my life, growing up I was the main carer for a member of my family which ignited my passion for the caring profession. This lead to me study nursing at university in Romania in 2009. After gaining my qualification and practicing in Romania for a few years I moved to England in 2015. I moved initially to Derbyshire where I worked as a carer for two years. After this I was promoted to the nurse’s assistant and subsequently lead all the training for dementia carers for that business. I am extremely passionate about giving residents the best care and most fulfilling lives. In my role as dementia care manager I am committed to continuous learning and also supporting my staff to be the very best they can be.


What I love most about my role is seeing how we are able to have such a positive impact on our residents’ day to day lives and seeing the smiles on their faces is the best feeling. Avery Collection is a fantastic company to work for and I feel very supported in my role and with any ideas I have to support our residents.


Outside of work I have a passion for sport with my biggest achievement is being Romania’s National Backstroke champion in the 100m.

I have worked in Housekeeping for over 10 years in private houses and nurseries. My whole life I have been looking after people from my mother to my own family. I really feel it is at the core of what I love to do and why I am so pleased to be working in the care industry. It’s a joy to come to work every day in such a family orientated home – my second family! There is always something different happening on a daily basis in the home. As housekeeping supervisor it gives me great pleasure to see how happy the extra little things we do makes the residents day and getting positive feedback about how the work my team does helps our residents daily lives.


When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with and looking after Grandchildren, reading books, walking around London and fresh coffee!
