After looking at several different places for suitable Residential Care for our Mum who has Dementia we chose Lauder Lodge. Mum moved in at the beginning of November 2018 and instantly felt at home. Her room is lovely, it has its own seating area outside the patio doors where she can sit in the warmer
weather, but most importantly her room meets all her needs. Mum is a very sociable person and loves being involved, the daily activities keep her active and allow her to mix with other residents.
For the past few years, Mum was being cared for at home which knocked her confidence, self-esteem and she lost some of her independence, being in Lauder Lodge has allowed Mum to gain some of that back. If she wants to be alone she can have some quiet time in her room and when we visit, Mum invites us to spend quality time in the coffee shop.
The staff are friendly, approachable and very professional when carrying out their duties They treat the residents are individuals and with dignity.

My mother has been at Lauder Lodge since August 2018. She settled in very quickly and is enjoying her new home. It's just the right size and is light and bright with individual colour schemes in the rooms and pleasant public areas. All the staff are friendly, helpful and cheerful. Mum very much appreciates
going out every morning with a member of staff to buy her paper. She loves the cinema, the activities and the activities staff! The catering is excellent and she loves the baking. Recently she was amazed at the beautifully decorated Christmas breakfast table.

My mum is a resident on the floor where all the patients have dementia. The nurses and staff are all absolutely wonderful. My mum is still very lively and keeps them all on their toes. They make her feel loved.
Her accommodation is lovely, visitors are welcome to join in with activities and there
is a coffee shop which serves lovely cakes and scones to the visitors also. Visitors are also welcome to join residents for meals too. I live overseas and knowing that she is so well looked after is a massive relief and assurance. Thank you all the staff of Lauder Lodge - especially the care staff who are also excellent with the Dementia patients.

The new accommodation and general care given by the staff is excellent and all we had hoped for in a care home. My Mum moved into Lauder Lodge in early June 2018. I am pleased to say that I could not be happier with Lauder Lodge. The relief is enormous - I was so worried but I am now sure that I could not have found anywhere better, and my Mum will be so much happier there than she was at home.


The bedrooms

and other facilities are excellent. Mum's room is lovely. All the staff are responsive, caring, attentive and kind.


We really appreciate the in-house Botanic Garden Cafe which is a great place to take Mum for a cup of tea/coffee and a lovely cake.


Two additional points. First, Lauder Lodge has super, big balconies with views over the sea and up to Arthur's Seat. This really adds to the experience for both residents and visitors. I visited several care homes in Edinburgh, before selecting Lauder Lodge, which felt rather enclosed and isolated in comparison. Also, Lauder Lodge is not hidden away. Its location means that it feels very much part of the surrounding community.

The carers at Lauder Lodge could not be nicer, everyone is welcoming and friendly. The facilities are excellent and kept spotlessly clean by the domestic staff. The activities coordinators arrange a wide variety of activities to cater for a range of interests.
The menus offer a choice at both lunch
and dinner and look good.

My mother adjusted to her new surroundings very quickly and made the move so much easier for my father. The facilities are great and the staff are wonderful, they care and it shows. The rooms are very comfortable and carefully thought out as with the entire facility.

Skype for me and I know that my mother is truly being cared for, which gives me great comfort.

My mother has only spent one month in Lauder Lodge, following a short stay in hospital. So far, I have been delighted with the whole experience at Lauder Lodge.


The facilities are wonderful in terms of the activity rooms, standard of the bedrooms and outside areas - gardens and balconies. It is also

much appreciated that a cafe is available as it provides a separate space to take Mum to on some visits.


My experience of all staff - management, care and domestic staff - has been entirely positive. They are warm, caring individuals who always show an interest in the residents' welfare, but also show a genuine interest in visitors queries.


I am very impressed with the range of activities on offer to residents, particularly as my Mum has dementia and these events help to keep her stimulated.


Thank you to everyone in a special team of people working at Lauder Lodge.

The nursing staff are extremely caring and attentive, admin staff also. The activities provided are relevant to the resident's needs. The rooms are extremely well appointed and the views over the Forth are beautiful, on a nice day!
I think the cafe provision is excellent, allowing visitors to meet
with residents out of their rooms and also providing space for visitors to reflect whilst remaining nearby if needed during a period of their relative's decline.

I cannot recommend Lauder Lodge in Edinburgh highly enough.
My dad moved in about 8 weeks ago and the environment, care, food, facilities and activities are superb. The home is beautifully decorated and laid out with a homely feeling. All the staff are professional, helpful, caring and genuinely seem
to enjoy working there. Nothing is too much trouble and dad has settled in quickly.
The activities on offer are superb and he is learning new skills as well as keeping up old ones. The management, staff and organisation seem to have a forward thinking and proactive approach to caring for the elderly. This brings peace of mind to family and friends.
Well done Lauder Lodge and your hard work is appreciated!

After much deliberation and careful thought, my friend decided to take the decision to move to Lauder Lodge. Best decision ever made and this has truly transformed her life.
This has got to be the future of care homes - everything is so different! The best words I could use to describe this way of
living is the feeling of being in the most caring village possible. If you are in sociable mood, there is always a friendly face just waiting to be with you, share interests with, and accompany you to the wide variety of entertainment provided, or if you are in a quieter mood you can retreat to one of the many lounges, craft rooms, private cinema, reading rooms, dining rooms, cafe, outside seating areas or of course your own private quarters where you can relax and put your feet up. Your guests can join you whenever you want, friendly faces everywhere, just ready to help with anything, as nothing is too much trouble at all! Sincere thanks to all staff for giving my lovely friend her life back.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’m a qualified nurse and have worked in a children’s clinic as well as in older people’s care. Joining Lauder Lodge has been very exciting for me: commissioning a new home is a challenge, and the whole team has worked closely together to create a wonderful home from home. 


I’ve enjoyed getting to know the team in the process, identifying their strengths and using them to everyone’s advantage. I’m enjoying watching the team grow while providing exceptional service and tailored care for every resident. 


I’m infamous for my sweet tooth, so I particularly enjoy afternoon tea time, when I can spend time with the residents, sharing stories and memories over a cup of tea and, of course, freshly baked goodies! 


Outside of work, shopping is a guilty pleasure of mine, followed by coffee dates with friends – usually just an excuse to get the biggest cake on display!
