Chelmunds Court has a high quality, innovative residential care and nursing home design, specially developed to provide expert care, in a safe and stimulating environment, for up to 73 older people.

Residents can enjoy mobilising around the curved corridors of the building’s quadrangle shape, which internally houses a safe, courtyard garden.

A central, dementia-friendly café has been designed as an environment to stimulate past memories, where residents can bring friends and relatives away from their natural residence. Lounges and dining rooms are stocked with baked goods and coffee and tea facilities and act as activity and entertainment areas too.

A corner activity room, complete with a low-level kitchen for group baking ease, has an external door positioned close to the Community Centre, to encourage community integration ease, including building beneficial intergenerational relationships.

Chelmunds Court is a 73 bed residential home offering compassionate, professional care for older people, especially those who are living with dementia, both residential and nursing. Centrally located in the Chelmsley Cross area of North Solihull this purpose-built care home is an integral part of one of the UK's largest-ever regeneration programmes.

Being a specialist provider of dementia care the Chelmunds Court team are well-placed to provide the 24-hour support, assistance and expert nursing required for all their residents.

The surrounding area has been extensively remodelled to provide state of the art leisure, healthcare, residential and community facilities, including new schools and green areas.

Good parking facilities with easy access to home where you are welcomed by extremely friendly staff in a clean and warm environment.
Bedroom with robe, dresser, bedside cupboards and comfortable armchair provides ample storage/space. Ensuite is very modern and clean.
Easy access along the corridor
to longue/dining rooms and again all clean, tidy and spacious.
Most important, very friendly staff.

My dear great aunt spent a few months in the care of this lovely home. The care, kindness and compassion we witnessed towards her during her time there was superb. Rooms were immaculate, as were all areas we visited in the home and my aunt was very happy here

I can't thank the carers and nurses enough for the care they gave my sister. It's a lovely home, more like a hotel than a nursing home. It's a shame about the manager. The home would be a lot better if she was not in charge. Once again, thank you to all the carers for looking after my sister and her
family in our time of need.

I have visited Chelmunds Court on a regular basis over the last 6 months and I can't believe the change, there is barely any agency now, training is always taking place with new recruits and the whole feeling to the home has changed. I no longer leave with concerns, because it's obvious that the care
staff have each resident's wellbeing at the top of the list, there had been a change around to staff and this shows greatly.

My mother, who is in an advanced stage of dementia, has been a resident at Chelmunds Court for the past seven months.
As a family, from day one, our experience at Chelmunds Court has been a very positive one.
The care and compassion that I have witnessed all staff extend to my mother has been unsurpassed.
This is a very warm and loving environment, where all the resident's individual needs are carefully considered and catered for.
The management team is welcoming has always been available to us. They have been extremely supportive in what has proved to be a difficult time for our family.
At Chelmunds my mother is safe, cherished and her individual care needs are met to a high standard. This really is a home that cares.

Our dearest mom was a resident from April to October. Mom had Vascular Dementia.
This care home has had its fair share of issues and bad press, we feel partly due to the wrong choice of management and carers alike. It now has, we hope, a new lease of life with a new management team, who are doing their
utmost to bring Chelmunds Court back to life. Perfection is something we all strive for, but very hard to achieve all of the time!
We wish all the very best in the future for Chelmunds Court.

My father was a resident from April to July 2018 and we were very surprised to see the comments relating to this home, as on the residential side that was not our experience at all (cannot comment on nursing). In fact Dad, who had advanced vascular dementia, loved it here. He had always maintained he
never wanted to go in a home, but he thought he was in a convalescence centre.
Dad loved the food which was excellent (the pickiest eater in the world) and never did we find him dirty, smelly, unfed or his room unclean, despite the fact he was doubly incontinent. Looking around the place and at other residents, likewise - we were in there on a daily basis. We never saw anyone who was injured, have an accident either and yes they do wander around (the home is designed in a circle so they can) because that's what people with dementia do. No place is perfect and yes, some days they didn't brush his teeth, clothes went missing in the laundry so tell the staff, they respond well to complaints and sort them.

This Care Home knows it has problems. 3rd Manager in 6 months. Activities coordinator has now left, so no activities for the residents. The ratio of staff to residents does not seem sufficient given the level of dependency. Too many agency staff. Staff morale seems low. Some care staff appear to be
caring but a few don’t seem to have any idea how to treat, care or respond to Dementia residents. I feel the level of Dementia training needs to be stepped up, especially as this is home is described as a Dementia Specialist home. Communication is poor. Since the new Manager arrived there are some small signs of improvement and it is early days, but there is a long way to go. The care plan in my relative’s room recently showed that she had not had a bath or shower for at least 9 days in the recent past. I would not recommend this home to anyone, at present. Beautiful building, lovely rooms, but as far as care, communication, dignity, I feel there are still large hurdles to overcome.

Inadequate staff ratios, only been opened since November 2017 but managers left already and current manager not empathetic to needs of residents. Real issues with safeguarding vulnerable adults - residents wander around corridors and not monitored/supervised due to not having enough staff! Food not
great, procedures if there are any, not clear or reinforced, some agency staff do very little. Fab, new building but the level of care leaves much to be desired.
