Welcome to Lakeview

Lakeview, part of Exemplar Health Care, is a specialist care home that supports people living with complex and high acuity needs.

The home has three ten-bed units which specialise in supporting adults with complex mental health needs, neuro-disabilities, Huntington’s disease, physical disability and complex dementia. The home has a specialist male-only and a female-only unit.

These units support people on their journey from being in hospital or living in a secure setting to community-based living, as well as offering longer term support for people living with degenerative or life-limiting illnesses.

The home provides a supportive environment where people can receive the specialist nursing care that they need and remain closer to their loved ones.

The care at Lakeview focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

Each bedroom at Lakeview has an en-suite, and the home also has communal dining and living spaces, as well as an activities room and large accessible garden.

•        Firetree Unit is a female-only unit which supports up to ten adults living with complex needs arising from a physical disability, dementia or complex mental health needs.

•        Bridgewater Unit is a male-only unit which supports up to ten adults living with complex dementia including those who display behaviours of concern.

My brother has made great progress since coming here. He has put weight on. He doesn't get as aggressive or agitated like he used to. He can now eat solid foods. All the carers seem to genuinely care for him, they have a laugh with him too and it feels like he isn't on his own in here.

Honestly, Lakeview has been the best thing to happen to me I’ve been able to improve and become so involved in home life, I’ve taken part in planning home fairs to raise money for activities, I’m helping with activities as service user activities to plan activities for the home and we are planning 2
more fairs. I’m working with the maintenance team to help brighten the home up with lots of plants and flowers in the garden too! The care we receive here is amazing and I have improved so much in the 8 months since I moved in and have so much more freedom and normality than I used to, management are amazing at dealing with any concerns and queries that may arise and dealing with them promptly and discreetly. The activities team are always working with us to make sure we have a variety of activities. The domestic team are always making sure our areas are cleaned to the highest standard and the kitchen team are really good at catering to my dietary requirements.

Lakeview is a lovely care home, everyone (staff) make you feel welcome when visiting. The rooms are clean and residents are well looked after by the friendly and caring staff, and fed well with good meals.

In the beginning, there was a large turnover of staff so it was very difficult to see any sort of consistency. Also, the staff were very young and inexperienced. Few issues to begin with but at the moment things seem to have improved and there is more staff who seem to be more experienced in looking
after people with dementia.

My husband hasn't been at Lakeview very long but from what we have experienced so far we are very happy with his care and environment. Only one issue - there is no outdoor seating area for clients and visiting relatives.

My husband has been in Lakeview since October 2018 after a long struggle to find him somewhere due to his challenging behaviour with his Alzheimer's.
As a family we are very happy with the care he is receiving. The staff are really caring and ensure he is always looking clean and tidy.
I would not
hesitate to recommend Lakeview. A special mention to the team leader who is amazing.

It was such a relief to find a care home environment with the skills and ability to manage my mum's complex needs. My mum has suffered from depression and anxiety on and off for 10 years. She had withdrawn from family and from life. This bout of depression followed a severe leg injury. In addition,
she had other medical needs. Unfortunately, my mum was moved from hospital to hospital, dependent on the priority of her needs at the time. In between hospital admissions, she stayed in a different care home but this resulted in a re-admission to hospital, because they could not manage all of her needs. It has been a never-ending nightmare until she was finally placed in Lakeview, Leigh. The staff have been able to manage all of my mum's needs, medical, physical and mental health. This has been such a blessing! The staff are always friendly and supportive. Lakeview has had such a positive impact on my mum that she has now been able to begin to recover and look to the future.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.603)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.603) out of 10 for Lakeview is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.853 for Lakeview is calculated as follows: ( (29 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.853

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeview is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
