Sadly given I had decided after my hip replacement to stay for respite I was impressed by my double room and the rest of the decor of the building, however, my first initial reception by the staff was not so friendly. However, I am sad to say the food from day one to leaving was applying always cold!
My bed was made only twice in a week and never changed. Never Again!

Our mum was a resident at the Spires Care Home for the last three years. The Home provided the best quality of life that we could have hoped for. Mum laughed, danced, sang and made numerous friends, she may not have remembered names but she enjoyed the company of her extended family and felt safe.
Mum
was a troubled soul at times but the staff became familiar with the extent of her dementia and responded lovingly and appropriately to her needs even with cups of tea at midnight.
The whole staff made us feel welcome and involved indeed a part of the Spires family.
We will forever appreciate their role in mum’s last few years.

My mom was a resident at The Spires for 5-months and my father for 20-months ending in September 2021. They had a range of needs in addition to their slowing down that came with age. They were made very welcome from day one and made to feel like part of a big family. Their needs were met with good professionalism,
but above and beyond this was the friendly and kind-hearted nature of the staff. As their health deteriorated, every effort was made to meet their needs, and without the care and understanding of the staff, I do not know how we could have managed these last few months. It was clear that the staff really took the residents to heart. Sadly, due to the needs of other family and friends, we have experienced a number of Care homes in recent years, and I can honestly say this is the best home we have experienced. Thank you.

My husband spent a week in Respite. The care was excellent as usual this being his fifth visit over the last few years. We are so grateful to all the staff for making him feel so welcome and content. The room was absolutely perfect somewhere he could relax and enjoy the views from the patio doors. Even
sitting out when the weather allowed. We already have another stay booked for next year.

Staff at the Spires are helpful caring and considerate and together with the facilities available made my mom's respite break very enjoyable for her and gave my sister and me the peace of mind, that she was safe and being looked after. I can’t praise the staff at Barchester The Spires Care Home enough for the care, empathy and support they gave to my sister whilst she was in their care. My sister’s behaviours were at time difficult due to her dementia but the team were always calm, patient, understanding and treated her with dignity.
The manager and the team kept us updated of any changes and supported her move when her respite ended. I would have no hesitation recommending The Spires to anyone for care and the home and gardens are also of an excellent standard.

Only came for three weeks respite. The care staff are friendly and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are a good size, and the decor all around is lovely. My room overlooked the garden and was in full bloom, squirrels and rabbits running around first thins, a lovely setting. I can't fault
the home and staff. Will recommend it to people looking for a care home.

The Spires is a beautiful, clean, modern home whose staff are wonderful. They are caring and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum's room is clean, fresh and looks over the garden - ideal for someone who loved gardening!

My 94-year old mother, suffering increasingly from Alzheimer's Disease, was initially a short-notice respite resident at The Spires Care Home due to her inability to care for herself after the death of my 97-year-old father. The necessarily fast move was traumatic for her in many ways, especially with
the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, from the moment of her arrival there, she was met with an extremely high level of excellent care from a skilled team of carers. In the luxurious environment of The Spires, she was treated with exceptional kindness, sensitivity and, indeed, love for which both she and I, her son, were greatly appreciative. The attentiveness to her many care needs and mental health demands was humbling and the patience of the carers was remarkable. As the only remaining family member, I was learning quickly about my mother's condition and the patience and empathy shown to me, too, at this difficult time was outstanding.

I cannot speak too highly of the care, love and attention all the staff have given to my mum since she has been living at The Spires Care Home. Nothing is too much trouble and I have complete peace of mind knowing that my dear mum is being looked after and is well cared for. Mum moved in last August
2020 and she is very happy. She has a wonderful room and loves looking out over the central garden area. She loves the food and says it's like living in a 5-star hotel! She says the carers are so kind and caring. Throughout the whole Covid pandemic we have been kept up to date on everything and everything has been done to keep the residents safe and well. I would thoroughly recommend The Spires to anyone who was considering their loved one needing full-time care.

We cannot praise the team at The Spirehighly enough. Even before the pandemic, they were doing a wonderful job, but they have excelled themselves over the past months. All the residents and staff have been kept safe, but more than that, they have worked to keep the atmosphere cheerful and upbeat, no
easy task. It's impossible to single out any one person to be employee of the month because they are all employees of the month! They have not only been employees looking after all in their care, but this year, they have also been surrogate family to the resident who have really missed seeing their nearest and dearest. Those working at The Spires have had to juggle the concerns of their own family and friends with the safety of the residents. It is a testament to how well they have done this that they have had only one possible case over the whole period. The activities team, along with all the other members of staff, have battled to keep spirits high, so important for mental and emotional health. There is always such a great atmosphere when we arrive for a visit, in the wonderful visiting suite with Mum and lots of laughter. We really appreciate all that everyone at The Spires has achieved this past year.

Two weeks ago my mother became a resident at The Spires, on that day the manager was thoughtful enough to arrange a visit for us on the 29th of October when Mum's quarantine period was over. So yesterday she finally got to meet the other residents and we visited. All necessary precautions had been taken
to ensure everyone's safety. The member of staff who accompanied Mum was very attentive, helpful and patient. After the visit it was wonderful to glimpse through the window and see Mum had been taken to the cafe area to join fellow residents in a game of dominoes, encouraging her to socialise and settle in her new home.

This is my second visit to the care home. I have been here for 21 days. The initial impression is of a smart, well furnished and well-equipped building. But it is much more than that. CARE is the word that signifies how this home operates. Staff are superb and quickly learn what a resident needs and
their preferences. The food is excellent and served in a splendid dining room or your room if preferred. I would have no hesitation in returning, it would be very hard to find better.

Respite recovery from a hip operation. Very good facilities, very cooperative staff, constant checking on my welfare day and night. Meal choices very good. Quality of food and cooking exceptional. The bathroom is cleaned very thoroughly, but the carpet was not vacuumed (biscuit crumbs, etc). Wi-Fi is
very good.

My mom stayed at Barchester for eight days respite, it was the first time my mom has ever been in respite so I was a little apprehensive. I called her a good few times while she was in Barchester and she was so happy and told me the staff were lovely to her, and she was enjoying her stay. I would never
be hesitant to let my mom stay at Barchester again because she was well looked after.

March 9-16 2020, 7-days respite - very impressed.
June 8-21, 2 -7th July - 14-days isolation, 14-days normal.
July 8th onwards, happy permanent resident in a relaxed atmosphere.
All the staff work as a very efficient team. Standing in for whatever is needed. Pressing for help is always answered,
even if one may wait a while. Help is spontaneously offered whenever a need is seen. The surrounding gardens are full of flowers, shrubs, trees etc, and well maintained. And all of the light downstairs rooms have access to the gardens.

Hello, I'm Lisa, the Deputy Manager at The Spires. I bring over 35 years care experience as well as bags of mischief!


I joined Barchester in May 23 as a Peripatetic Senior Carer supporting multiple homes across the Midlands region, and then in September 23 was thrilled to be appointed as Deputy Manager at The Spires.


I have worked in care since the age of 17, fulfilling my passion for caring for others, understanding their needs and providing first class care. I am L5 qualified in Healthcare Leadership & Management and I love nothing more than a good challenge.


I am definitely a people person and you'll see me bobbing around the home with a smile on my face.


Outside of work I am married with grown up children and house a naughty dog!

Taking a pride in their home is important for the residents and all my team feel passionate about this too. The lovely part of the role is that we get to know each resident and the ways we can make them happy by the little touches that can lighten their day including having a chat as we work.

Hi, my name is Angie and I am an activities coordinator here at The Spires. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.


We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Hello, I'm Suzanne one of the Hairdressers at The Spires.


I have over 25 years hairdressing experience and I visit the home once a week to work my magic. Whether it's a perm, a colour or a simple trim, Residents can join me for a pamper and a friendly chat in the salon.


I am so lucky to do what I do, it is a real pleasure to work at the home and to build relationships with the Residents - we have fantastic conversations during their time in the salon and its nice to see them leave with a smile.
