Bridge House Care Home is a warm and welcoming 66 bed care home on the outskirts of Brighouse offering residential, nursing and dementia care.

The home was designed and built, and is run by family owned Fisher Care who have well over 30 years experience caring for older ladies and gentlemen across Yorkshire. With the greatest attention to detail regarding every aspect of the home, the team are extremely proud of Bridge House and the care that they provide to residents.

The sixty-six en-suite bedrooms are each individually designed with different colour pallets and contrasting furnishings, giving a modern yet restful feel and maintaining a homely ambiance. Residents have a huge choice of shared communal spaces including a rooftop garden, a pub, a cinema room, a small shop and a café area.

Professional and well-trained staff provide person-centred care in a tranquil, caring environment. Kindness, warmth and compassion from every team member helps them to deliver safe and effective care.

The building itself, designed with long term sustainability in mind, boasts a heat source ground pump, LED energy-saving lighting and underfloor heating throughout to minimise the carbon footprint.

My grandad spent a whole week in this care home for respite and he loved every single minute of it. He was taken care of and nothing was too much for the staff, we as his family was very impressed with all the care home and also we were impressed by how the care home looked exactly like a hotel.

I recently had the last-minute opportunity to have a seven-night respite break at Bridge House Care Home. It is situated very near to my own home so it is very convenient for my family to visit. The home is relatively new, very tastefully decorated, with quality furniture and a very light and modern
feel.
I am disabled, use a power wheelchair and cannot transfer without being hoisted. The only improvements that I think would improve my respite experience would be for the home to install a ceiling track for transfers, instead of using a mobile hoist.
and perhaps employ more staff. I have been several times over the last few years for respite breaks here and would like to say that the staff are all delightful, work hard and make staying there an enjoyable experience.

Visited a few care homes and Bridge House has to be one of the best around. The staff are so welcoming and helpful every time I have visited and there is always a very pleasant atmosphere around the building.
The place is always very clean and well maintained and I have always found the care offered
really comforting and reassuring. Keep up with the fantastic work.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Bridge House for over 3 years now, she is happy there and has been well looked after. Staff are caring and her daily needs are met. I would also like to add the home and rooms are spacious, all rooms are very nicely decorated and clean. There are a lot of facilities
at this home and a lot of activities for the residents to be involved in.

My mother has been a resident of Bridge House for several years and I cannot stress enough how good this care home is. The staff are totally professional, hard-working, friendly and diligent and have formed a bond with my mother that ensures she is incredibly happy in their care. Nothing is too much
trouble where residents are concerned: they are well looked after, entertained and receive a lot of attention, conversation and mental stimulation from staff. The home is very clean and tidy, has excellent food and is incredibly well-managed. 5-star rating on all fronts!

Bridge House as a care home, is a modern and welcoming facility. From the management team to the nurses and support team, there is an ethos of inclusion openness and transparency. As relatives, we feel part of the team. We are listened to and supported. My Mom is happy and well cared for and that’s
the most important thing to me as her son. It’s never ideal when a loved one has to leave the safety and familiarity of home. It impacts on us all. Bridge House will never be home, it’s not supposed to be, but it’s the next best thing that allows us peace of mind that Mom is loved and taken care of.

My mum moved into Bridge House Care Home in June 2020 during the covid outbreak. When she went into the home in June 2020, after having had a stroke, I really didn't think she would survive until the Christmas. She was 96. With the wonderful care she has had at this home, I have had three more years
with her so far. She is now 99 and will be 100 in December. The carers there have got her through a bout of covid and two heart incidents. The staff, and I mean all staff, the cleaners, hostesses, seniors and health workers have been fantastic throughout. I will always be grateful to them for these extra years.

They go above and beyond their duties and I cannot thank them enough for everything they do particularly at this time when Mum is
nearing end of life.

My sister uses this care home and the care of her is fantastic. All her needs are met, she is always clean and very well looked after, she enjoys the food and her room is always clean and tidy, the staff are amazing with her. There's always something going on and all her personal needs are met in a
dignified manner. I look forward to going to spend time with her. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and managers are always on hand if any concerns are raised and they are always acted on with speed and care.

My wife has been a service user for a fair few years. This is the second review I have given. Think the service is an excellent all-round nursing home. The staff are friendly, the building is clean and well maintained. If you need to know anything, all you have to do is ask, from the management down,

By visiting regularly and getting to know the staff and management, we have seen how hard everyone has worked during the recent difficult review period. The ratings given below

The home is fabulous, very clean. Safety is excellent. Staff were always too busy to assist, but when they did, they were ok. Food was adequate. Came home, catheter not on correctly, urine bag not fastened to leg, left hanging loose, therefore pulling. Since coming home, have just spent five days in
hospital with a severe urine infection.

As indicated below, everything is good. This is apart from the length of time it takes to provide a bedpan. Sometimes between 30 to 45 minutes. This is not satisfactory, in fact very poor. The other issue is the quality of the food. It is never hot when it reaches room 15 (1st floor), in fact, the potatoes
are clock-cold. Of late, there seems to be a lack of items, custard, sandwich fillings, quavers etc. Not good value. Not good value for money on the food side.

When my Mum passed away in June 2022 Bridge House helped her and kept her company and comfortable until her last breath. My mum came to Bridge House a few years ago. The facilities are good and 100% for the care they gave my mum.

Review with regards to the level 3 Dementia floor.
On the whole, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and helpful, although there appears to be a heavy dependency on agency staff, which goes against any consistency that the dementia residents require.
Quality of the food varies, i.e sausage
roll chips and beans, fish fingers chips and beans this is more suitable for nursery children, not adults.
The regular carers try and interact with residents when they have the time, but we have seen very little use of the faculties such as the cinema room shop, bar, and activity room. My mum complains that she is bored, as nothing much is being done to stimulate the residents in the day room.
We were told that mum could go down and use the day rooms on the other floors, but she as had no encouragement to do this.
At the very beginning, we asked for things like a hearing test for new hearing aids, a suitable chair, and a bed to help with her back pain and move of room, but after 9 weeks nothing.

Dear Shaun, thank you for your review. I am sorry we haven't been able to completely satisfy you at this time but I welcome your constructive comments. We agree about the sad but needed use of agency staff, despite paying some of, if not the best pay rates in the area, recruiting is a massive challenge but rather than work short staffed, we always make the effort to cover all needed shifts. Recently our food supplier has had a massive cyber attack which means we have had to be very agile in where we order our food from and this has caused some menu changes which have not been as hoped, we also experimented with moving the heavier meal to lunchtime due to the hot weather and a few other factors so we are reviewing this now. In terms of mum being bored, our activities team I am sure will be in touch to ensure we correct this.
I hope in the future we can address these concerns and you might increase our rating by another review, thanks again.

Very poor service. My dad was not looked after properly. We would often go visit him to see him covered in bruises which staff and management could not explain. He didn’t even have a proper mattress which we only noticed when looking for his glasses in his bed. His bed was made but when we pulled the
duvet over it was soaking wet and all he had was 3 pieces of foam as a mattress, then one time they sent my dad to hospital, agitated due to dementia, no staff with him and I was told not to worry if he starts wandering in the A&E reception, staff will have to look after him. I was in tears with this and raced to the hospital where we sat for 4 hours for the doctor to then say we will have to admit your dad even though he was fine, as the care home told the doctor my dad wasn’t welcome back to Bridge House. The list goes on, I have lots of photos, messages and video proof of lots more neglect. We did get my dad moved from here to a wonderful care home whom, as with the hospital, was shocked at the condition of Dad.

We would like to thank Debbie for her review of her father's experience in August 2021, we apologise wholeheartedly.
This experience coincided with a CQC inspection which was massively disappointing for the organisation and caring staff team who worked and continue to work here. As a provider, we brought in 3 consultants within days of the inspection and removed the responsible management without hesitation.
Since then the Management team and the caring staff have installed systems and process that means such problems should not repeat in the future, this is reflected in our CQC inspection of the 19th January 2022 where we were rated as a GOOD home by them, and we are building a high-quality staff team now and for the future so Bridge House will never be known for such practices in the future.
Should you wish to contact us so you can see the improvements for yourselves I would happily facilitate this in person, finally we are so pleased the new placement worked out for her father.

Super happy with the new daycare. Bridge House Care Home recently re-opened its doors. My dad attended before covid twice a week and was there the first day open, now happily back to his two days a week. The daycare part of the care home is separate and is a very roomy area including good cooking facilities.
Everywhere is safe and extremely well equipped with interesting things for all the various skill levels. All the staff really care and interact well with attendees the staff also work very well together as a team, certainly always putting the daycare attenders needs first. The care team seem to have a very good, varied, well thought out, interesting program of things for the attenders to do. I would recommend Daycare at Bridge House to anyone, It delivers a very high standard of care, the staff are amazingly caring and it is extremely good value for money including breakfast dinner and tea. A massive thank you to all the staff working there.
