Pebble Mill is a purpose-built home welcoming residents with a range of care needs, including residential, nursing and Parkinson's.

Set in the heart of Edgbaston, Bupa’s Pebble Mill Care Home is just two miles from Birmingham city centre and a stone’s throw from Cannon Hill Park and its renowned Arts Centre. The BBC’s fondly-remembered Pebble Mill Studio closed its doors in 2005 to make way for a family of world-class healthcare facilities like Pebble Mill Care Home.

With superior standards of design, build and interior finish, everything you’ll find at Bupa’s Pebble Mill Care Home has been made with residents in mind. From the wide and welcoming corridors and communal spaces to the wheelchair-accessible lifts and stunning interior décor in each of the comfortable en-suite bedrooms.

My experience of this care home has been extremely positive. My father was discharged from the hospital and placed in Pebble Mill Care Home without my knowledge or involvement. The moment I found out, I looked up their status on the QCC website to find that they supposedly ''required improvement'' on
all five criteria. Honestly, this QCC status does not reflect our own experience. They have looked after my father exceptionally well. All of the staff that care for my father have been superb. The building itself is new, well designed and well decorated. My sister and I and my father's friends are delighted to visit him in such lovely surroundings. With the assistance of the physiotherapists and the home's extreme patience, they have managed to get him walking again - something that I thought I would never see. Please judge with your own eyes and ears, and don't take the QCC status as gospel. It was assessed in 2020, so perhaps their next assessment will reflect what my sister and I see.

A dear friend received palliative care here in June, July and until his death in August. Overall, the care was very good. He was tended lovingly and treated as a whole person. The healthcare assistance staff seemed to really care and to have enough time to not rush the bathing and changes of linen.
Even a member of the weekend agency staff asked about my friend seriously, so that she could be aware of him as an individual. The senior nursing staff were also very caring, as if to a relative of theirs. Medical interventions were made with loving care. Two activities organisers offered a good programme of activities of many kinds, though temporarily constrained, of course, by the pandemic. Every effort was made, by one-to-one conversations, to find interests for each person, such things as garden visits being still possible. The quality assurance person who joined the staff in late July was compassionate and effective. She dealt with the things brought to her attention.

Last year my Aunt was transferred to Pebble Mill Care Home from hospital and it's been fantastic! She has responded so well to the wonderful care she has received at Pebble Mill Care Home and looks amazing, no doubt the Spa Days and facials all helped. Everything about Pebble Mill Care Home is fabulous,
the home itself of course and all the brilliant staff. Unfortunately, I have other relatives with care needs so I have experience of other care homes and there is no doubt Pebble Mill Care Home is the absolute best. If I ever end up in a care home, it had better be here!

My Mum was very poorly looked after, bedbound and forgotten about plus a gold ring went missing from her finger. She was just a number, never a person! Only in here for seven months before she sadly passed.

My mom was transferred here after a short stay in hospital. We are now six weeks on and she is now there full time. The staff are so kind and caring. They do activities most days. They all work so hard. They make time for all the residents. The place is clean tidy and the rooms are gorgeous. My mom
has her own room with a private bathroom. The decor is beautiful and she has her own things around her and is very settled there. If you are looking at a care home, this is the place to be.

My mother moved into Pebble Mill Care Home from hospital in May 2020. She was considered end of life and needing palliative care. With wonderful care from the staff, she made a remarkable recovery from double pneumonia and enjoyed two glorious months. Her room and the facilities were absolutely first
class. She was nursed to a peaceful and dignified end by the staff following heart failure in August. I thoroughly recommend this excellent care provider.

My Mum and Dad are both at Pebble Mill now. My Mum has been there for two years and there have been a lot of improvements this year. Keeping Covid-19 out of the home has been extremely well handled along with the communication to relatives. My Dad went into the home in April and has been made to feel
very welcome. I feel that both my parents are being treated in a very caring manner. Staff have also been very kind to me as I have found the whole situation very difficult emotionally.

My mother has been at Pebble Mill Care Home since December 2018. The care home has gone from strength to strength during her time here. She is well cared for and her wishes are respected. The meals are well prepared always offering plenty of choices. Activities staff work hard to provide a variety of
things to do and have done a great job liaising with the family during the lockdown, as have nursing staff and managers.

Overall the staff are all very good. Some of the night staff need training in communication. Menus could be more varied and would suggest main meal be at night. Meal sizes should depend on appetite. Too much food wasted.

Generally a relaxed atmosphere. My sister is reluctant to ask for attention. I do not know if her complaints about food are justified but it seems to be an ongoing problem.

In this period of lockdown and uncertainty, plus not being able to visit Dad, Pebble Mill Care Home have been very efficient in keeping us up to date with photos, newsletters, video calls and regular communication.
All the staff from every department are very hardworking in providing care and support
to the residents.
At this worrying time for themselves and their families, they continue to provide an excellent service to make Dad feel safe and content with genuine interaction plus great chat and humour to make Dad feel special.
With a wide range of activities and full use of a beautiful garden which is vital in this period Pebble Mill is a lovely home for our very much loved Dad.

A beautifully finished and equipped care home with good facilities. It was lovely that my parents could have adjoining rooms. I think the meals could have been a bit tastier, especially the soup. The staff was friendly and efficient. I felt some lacked experience in dealing with a stroke patient. All
in all, a positive experience, and I would use Pebble Mill again.

Pebble Mill Care Home fosters a very caring, homely environment for residents fortunate enough to be able to call it their home. They provide excellent person-centred care to the residents who are at the heart of everything they do. The team work very well together to provide a first class service treating
residents with the utmost respect, engaging with the families to ensure the provision of care is tailored to meet the individual needs of the resident.
The balance of creating a safe home from home environment can be difficult to achieve in a care home setting. Without a doubt, Pebble Mill has managed to do this.
With excellent management, nursing care, hostess service, housekeeping, catering, maintenance and stimulating activities, Pebble Mill has achieved a special place dad can call home.
Dad has started to live again thanks to a team of very special people.
So that just leaves me to say a very BIG THANK YOU to you all.

Pebble Mill Care Home is the best place ever!
If you are looking for peace of mind for a loved one, Pebble Mill Care Home is the place to be. The staff are all so loving, compassionate and very accommodating for any request needed for my mom. I have personally met with the home manager, nurse coordinator,
nursing staff and executive chef and they all reassured me that my mom was in excellent hands and receiving the best quality care.
The executive chef is always striving to accommodate my mom's menu request. The housekeepers do an amazing job of keeping Pebble Mill so clean and fresh! This home looks and feels more like a five-star hotel!
I am writing this review after returning home to Florida two months later, I am also looking to have another family member placed here as I truly love Pebble Mill Home and the staff!
Thank you to all the amazing staff that continually strive to go above and beyond the call of duty to make my mom happy! Pebble Mill Care Home is the best place ever!

I came here to Pebble Mill Care Home for 2 weeks. I have had the best time here it's been like a holiday. The carers are absolutely great, fantastic carers. The care I received have been amazingly wonderful and it will be sad and very emotional to be going home.

I was impressed with the facility from the outset. The receptionist was warm welcoming and knowledgeable. The accounts manager was helpful considerate and informative. However, the nurse who assessed my mother during a home visit was the individual who sealed the placement, she was intelligent caring,
engaging and able to answer all our questions re-assuring. On admission and throughout admission my mother spoke very highly of all the staff.

This is a fabulous home that I have no hesitation in recommending. The home goes beyond the excellent facilities without exception. Every member of staff from the care team to housekeeping are totally focused on making sure the residents are comfortable and well cared for. The family are also made to

I have been working as a home manager for over 20 years, I have worked in many different settings such as Mental Health, Rehabilitation, Elderly care as a Home Manager and also as an Area Director.


The sense of community a care home gives to residents and their families as well as to those that work in the home is what makes it for me. I feel privileged to be supporting the older generation as they have lived the life I am living. I love people's life stories; I love the spontaneity that comes with a variety of personalities.


I am a wife and mother to two children. I have two energetic dogs and in my spare time, I love to spend time travelling in my campervan seeing the beautiful sites and pubs around the UK. I have a passion for dance, art and music.
