**Over the coming months, the home is reducing its environmental impact by removing all gas from heating, catering & laundry services and replacing with electric to make Wykebeck Court Care home Bupa’s first Net Zero care home.**

Wykebeck Court is a beautiful purpose-built home, designed to provide the highest standards in nursing, residential and dementia care in attractive surroundings. Long and short-stay care is available.

The home tailors care to individual needs, helping residents to enjoy the best quality of life possible in a warm and welcoming environment.

The home boasts 84 en-suite bedrooms all fully furnished to a high standard, some with patio doors to the garden, modern dining rooms, spacious lounges and a beauty salon.

Wykebeck Court encourages everyone to get involved in day-to-day life, so there’s a real community spirit. Residents and relatives can choose to share ideas on everything from menus and activities to local trips and outings.

Food is a very important part of life. The chef creates well-balanced meals from choice ingredients, for residents to enjoy in the sociable dining areas or in private in the resident's room. There are lots of favourites on the menu, but staff talk to each resident on arrival about likes and dislikes, and any special dietary needs.

My mother was a resident until her death on 15/01/23. Without exception, she was cared for and loved by all the carers.

My father was only at Wykebeck Court Care Home for seven weeks. He passed away on the 1st of June but the staff were amazing. They made sure he was comfortable and couldn't do enough for him and also for me and my family.

Having visited my brother recently, I have found the staff friendly and attentive. However, the reason I have valued care/support as satisfactory is purely because I feel that there are not enough staff to attend to residents' needs in a timely fashion. The care/support they give is excellent but it
seems residents are waiting maybe longer than necessary if more staff were available. Meals are often delayed as so many need help feeding. Maybe outside volunteers could assist. Lots of fun activities but not all able to participate. Lack of mobility means some are getting stiff. More exercises for some. Better communication with next of kin by email? Big thanks to staff working under difficult situations.

We appointed essential caregivers but now we can look at external volunteers. Activities do one-to-one but this sometimes is limited.

My father went to Wykebeck Court in November for a planned respite stay of 2 weeks. The rooms and the facilities are of a high standard and the carers and nurses, on the whole, were lovely.
Following an incident, my father was told to leave the care home in the evening and I arrived to find his clothes
and belongings in black bin liners. I had no alternative but to take him home in his pyjamas with no support in place.
The management showed no empathy and were very quick to relinquish all responsibility. Bupa have acknowledged that certain procedures were not adhered to in line with their own high standards and hopefully, my complaint will lead to improved care in the future.

Cannot fault the staff, especially as they are under so much pressure with Covid and staff absences. Rooms and facilities are all excellent, but food could be greatly improved and a great deal of wastage saved.

My mum came to Wykebeck in December 2021 after being in another home for a year and not settling in. Mum was in a pretty bad way. Depressed, not washing, looking very unkept, crying all the time. Hence the reason I felt I had to try elsewhere as I felt she wasn't getting the care she needed.
When
Mum first came to Wykebeck we did have a few concerns but these were soon sorted. The attention my mum gets at Wykebeck is remarkable, especially as it must be so difficult in these hard times. They have got a Doctor to look into her medication, which has helped tremendously. She is now happy to get into her own walk-in shower with the help of staff. She is going to the dining room to eat rather than in her room. She is joining in as much as she can in activities that are on very frequently. The best thing is she is now talking to me and I can have a lovely conversation with her on my visits. The staff here have helped Mum so much and I cannot thank them enough.

The home is excellent in many respects. Residents are very well cared for, and staff are always kind and helpful. Suitable daily exercise is the only weak area. After an 8-moth stay, my mother has lost much of her limited mobility. Exercise is vital for all, and especially for the very old and frail.
No suitable outdoor areas.

Wykebeck Court warmly received my mum from hospital and have done a wonderful job in looking after her. All the nurses and staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. My Dad was moved from the hospital to the Wykebeck but was very weak and I'm afraid, died after ten days. He could not have been in a better place and the staff especially looked after him so well. They were all really kind and considerate.

My wife was a resident from day one of opening and despite some teething problems, that one could expect, the love and care given was first class. I visited every day up until the lockdown, so my knowledge of care given and staff commitment was second to none. And this includes all sections of the staff.

The team at Wykebeck Court have been amazing at helping our family member settle in and caring for her during the pandemic. The staff have been very supportive and listened to us as a family in order to put a plan in place to help her - they really have had her best interests at heart. Whether it’s
preparing foods that she is more likely to eat or chatting with her at night when she can’t sleep, they have always been kind and compassionate towards her.


We were nervous about finding a nursing home for our family member, but it has been very reassuring to know that they are looking after her so well and in nice facilities that she can enjoy. We are grateful to all the staff- thank you.

Well, what can I say? During lockdown you guys have really been superheroes. We get regular updates and can just see that my Grandad is so happy. Even before lockdown staff made us feel welcome and had a joke with my grandad which he loves.

Mum has been in Wykbeck Court since just after it opened and has never looked back, it’s her home and she loves it. The staff have been remarkable and care for her like we would want her to be cared for. Covid has made it so hard for us all and not been able to hold her, hug her and even chat to other
residents has been so difficult for mum and staff alike, but they have shone through and made a terrible situation bearable.
The home itself is beautiful and always clean and tidy just as mum would have her home, there is always a warm welcome when you visit and a great coffee area.
Improvements are always been made, and we can give suggestions as needed. The new management team are well on board with everything and ensure the home is run safely and professionally.
The team of carers are amazing and love to care for mum and ensure she looks her best at all times.
All I can say is thank you for all the love and care you give to her and all the other residents.

Dad was admitted to Wykebeck Court in February 2020. We chose the home because of its location, facilities and the friendliness (but professionalism) we experienced during our initial visits. However, once Dad became a resident (full nursing care), it became evident that care is as much about the people
as it is about facilities - the whole team, both the carers and administration staff, were amazing. Their commitment and dedication was faultless.

Wykebeck Court is a superb care home in every respect. My mother was cared for there from 4th February to 29th April both on the residential and then later on the nursing floor. She could not have been better looked after and I have nothing but praise and thanks to all the staff who work so cheerfully
and tirelessly to give both professional and compassionate attention to all in their care. We chose Wykebeck because of its modern well-equipped facilities, elegant and spacious interior and welcoming helpfulness of staff. During my mother's stay, we were increasingly impressed with the smooth management and efficient running of the home. The whole staff work seamlessly together as a happy team creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere in a most comfortable place. Nothing was ever too much trouble for anybody and the management was at all times responsive and on the ball. I recommend Wykebeck Court Care Home unreservedly and once again extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all staff.

Very good home, well lead, staff well trained, friendly to our family. 2nd floor stay respite well recommended. Confident in relative staying at Wykebeck Court. Good communication from manager - lovely lady. Regular staff seemed all compliant with training and adapted very well to my relative's needs.
Activities - could be more adapted for everyone to join in. Capabilities of individuals vary. Activity staff all lovely. One nurse reluctant to give meds as could be refused. So maybe needs to be more confident and not rush the resident so as not cause confusion.

My mum has been a resident of Wykebeck Court since November 2018. It was a big, but necessary step to give up her own home and move into care. Mum has settled extremely well into Wykebeck Court and recently said that it was "like living in a palace". The care home is strongly managed, spotlessly clean,
with delicious meals and provides a range of fun activities throughout the day. All the staff are friendly and approachable. They care for Mum with respect, dignity and patience. Mum celebrated her 92nd birthday a couple of weeks ago - my wife and I were able to have a Sunday roast lunch with Mum. To celebrate, the kitchen staff made a lovely big birthday cake which was shared with the other residents. The care home allowed us to play the keyboard in the afternoon – both Mum and myself really enjoyed entertaining the residents. All the staff on duty made mum feel very special. It was a fabulous day and one that we will all remember.
