The Goldbridge is a purpose-built care home that occupies an idyllic position overlooking Beech Hurst Gardens.

The home provides tailored support for a range of care needs, including dementia care in safe and comfortable surroundings.

After visiting The Goldbridge Care Home, we felt it would be the ideal place for my Mum for a respite stay. Unfortunately, she was admitted to hospital before she could try it. She was discharged from hospital during the COVID Pandemic directly to The Goldbridge. They were excellent with the care and
consideration given to Mum during the difficult time for all care homes. She spent 2 weeks in their quarantine unit before she was admitted permanently to the care home. She now has a lovely room and is very well cared for by dedicated staff. We are kept up to date with the information available from the home and are very pleased we chose The Goldbridge.

The Goldbridge Care home is wonderfully friendly, kind and family-oriented. Nothing is too much to ask for. The staff know every resident by name and their personal likes/dislikes. The Manager and Deputy Manager are fully involved with all aspects of running the home which includes entertaining residents
and supporting their staff in their work. My Mum has been very happy since moving in and wouldn’t want to be cared for in any other home. Highly recommend. They are also responsive to any concerns, queries etc with prompt attention.

The care offered to my husband during his time at the Goldbridge was kind and compassionate. We were looked after as a family especially in the early days of him settling in. We would thoroughly recommend it as a happy and caring environment.

A very pleasant and well-appointed environment for residents and families alike. Everything looks fresh and the whole building has a welcoming feel. The staff appear happy and are always very accommodating and attentive to the residents.

My mum moved into The Goldbridge Care Home at the end of October 2019. She had previously lived in a care home in Eastbourne for approximately one year. Unfortunately, the care there fell far short of expectations. Mum, Dad and I were delighted that she moved to    
The Goldbridge where we could not
have wished for a higher quality of care. The staff consistently gave her personal and loving attention and were always responsive to mums various needs. They could not have been more supportive to our family.

I can describe The Goldbridge Care Home using three words 'Peace of Mind'. I have every confidence my mother is in the best place possible for her needs and I could not wish for a better place for my mother to be in the latter stages of her life.

Kindness and care were excellent.
Food boring and often large servings which looked daunting for many residents. Food could be warmer, some system to keep it warm as staff were serving to residents in bedrooms. Not enough staff in the dining room. I understand it appears to be common practice for
(nursing) staff everywhere to work 12-hour shifts, I believe this is too long and could lead to mistakes due to tiredness. Staff should be able to enjoy time off and not be too tired to only sleep.

I was worried about placing my husband in a nursing home. The Goldbridge put all my worries to rest. They care for him and treat him with dignity. The facilities are great and I can visit him anytime. The staff make you feel welcome and still part of his life.

The first impression was excellent. The facilities and rooms are modern, spacious and cannot be faulted. My father received adequate care here; however, I got the impression they were short-staffed, as I or my father could ring the buzzer to request help, and still be waiting 10 minutes later.
I
felt that the welcome could have been better. We were shown to the room and left to settle in, but didn’t get the warm welcome we had expected - it really felt more like a hotel where we were left to figure it out on our own.
Integration of residents was not good. Rarely saw other residents in the lounges, most just seemed to be in their rooms.
There were social activities planned each day, but these were up in the nursing area, with patients who had very high needs/dementia. My father shrunk from this “is this where I’m going to end up?”. I feel the two parts should have been kept more separate.
Food was ok, but very bland and unseasoned.

Having experienced other care homes in the area our impressions of The Goldbridge were of a much better quality care home when we moved our mum there.
Spotlessly clean, lovely staff and excellent communication. They kept a log/journal of our mother's daily care which was highly detailed and allowed
us to monitor mum's care and be confident that she was receiving the right treatment.
It is a beautiful home, modern with a flexible attitude, quiet and well managed. We would like to thank all the staff for their help and assistance and would highly recommend this establishment.

The level of care given to my father during his stay of approximately three months was of the highest standard. This extended to looking after my elderly mother during her visits. The fact that The Goldbridge offers residential and nursing care through to the end of life was very important in our choice
of home. As to the property itself, it is a purpose built new care home and the quality of fixtures and finishes would be commensurate with a good quality hotel.

I have found the home to have a professional management team who also have a hands-on approach to their involvement in day to day care. The nurses, carers, catering and activities staff are kind, caring and attentive.
My mother has changed to this home after a long period in another home. She is shortly
to be 100 years old and I feel very fortunate that she is now living in The Goldbridge Care Home.

My father was a resident at the Goldbridge since it opened in April. He sadly died in July but the staff made those 3 months very special for him and us. Of particular note was the incredibly humane and dignified care he was given as his health deteriorated. It was humbling for myself and my siblings
to see how much his well being meant to the staff there. A huge thank you to you all!

Received very good welcome and birthday greetings. Standard of food during first 2 days was very poor, improving somewhat later during stay but still needs more improvement. Porridge was not available on time on Sunday morning as I was advised the chef had arrived late.
Suggest that residents are
asked what they would like to see on the menu.
Carers had staff meetings and ate food in front of residents which did not look professional.
Suggest carers could take out some residents in wheelchairs e.g. visits to Beech Hurst Gardens.
No duty manager available on Sunday to 'check out'. Had to make subsequent visit to settle the account.
No management staff appeared to be available in the evenings.

The Goldbridge Care Home is a new and airy building with plenty of room. It has a number of lounges and a nice dining room. My mother's room is cosy and has a large wetroom. The staff go about their work with good humour and treat my mother with due dignity. Any problems have been dealt with and we
have been informed. My mother is content and well looked after and we are pleased with the service provided.

Jacqualine Fleming

Job Title: Home Manager

Hello, my name is Jacqualine and I am the home manager at The Goldbridge.


I qualified as a nurse in 1992 and have enjoyed a diverse career. Over the years I have specialised in accident and emergency care in some of London’s largest hospitals, worked in Harley Street as a cardiac matron and practice nurse, and spent six transformative years in post-war Kosovo, where I dedicated my efforts to establishing shelters for vulnerable children.


In 2018, I transitioned to focus on dementia care, first as a dementia care manager and then as a deputy manager at a newly constructed nursing home. It was there that I discovered my true calling in this field and was subsequently instrumental in turning around three nursing homes that previously required improvement, gaining invaluable insights and expertise throughout the process.


I joined The Goldbridge in 2024 and with the support of my wonderful team, I am committed to providing the very best care to all of our residents.

I have worked at The Goldbridge since it opened in 2018. I initially joined as a deputy chef and later became the chef manager. Prior to that, I had worked for The Disabilities Trust.


I love to see the residents and staff enjoying the food that we have cooked.


Outside of work, I live with my husband and two of my three grown-up children. I love to travel and Southeast Asia is top of my list. I’ve been to Thailand many times as well as Laos, Cambodia and Bali. I am looking forward to visiting India later this year.
