All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and the home features its very own hair and beauty salon, café, bar and cinema room, plus stunning landscaped gardens designed by landscape designer Annie Pollock.

I have been a resident here at Murrayside for two months now, and I am also very deaf. Can only say that all the carers and other staff are absolutely excellent. They are all so helpful and cheerful, especially in what I think sometimes must be very difficult circumstances. They are all so good at speaking
to me face-to-face and making sure I understand what is going on. I have difficulty eating, and both they and the chef have gone out of their way to find suitable food. My experience here has been excellent, and I am truly happy here.

After over a year of coping with my sister whilst she was in her own home on her own her health gradually deteriorated and she ended up in the hospital for seven weeks and also contracted Covid. I knew when she was taken into hospital that she would never go back to stay in her own home as she couldn't
cope. After looking at various homes I couldn't get over how bright, clean and airy Murrayside was and one could only compare it to a five-star hotel. My sister has been in the home now for just over three weeks and is fitting in well with other residents. All the staff are so kind and helpful and the range of activities are excellent. It has been a long time since I have seen my sister look so well. I now have peace of mind and hope she has many years to enjoy her time at Murrayside. I like that I am kept up to date with special events that are going on in the home.

After a long stay in hospital waiting for a home care package we decided to opt for residential care. The services in Murrayside are excellent and couldn't have been replicated at home. The rooms are lovely, the food is good, and there is always something going on for the residents to enjoy. It's like
a luxury hotel. The staff are wonderful, and my godmother seems to be fitting in well. I am very impressed at the amount and range of activities available for the residents at Murrayside.

After giving up my job when my mum was diagnosed with dementia 3 years plus of looking after her it was moving to the stage she was in need of 24-hour constant care. My brother and I when visited Murrayside were so impressed we knew this was the one. Since she has been in their care she’s been joining
in all the great activities making friends eating well and looks amazingly well. What makes this for us her family has got to be the staff my job before looking after my mum was as a carer, they cannot do enough for her and they welcome in all family friends even my dogs. The activities team are amazing as is the nursing and carers, lovely meals. I was so upset having to put my mum into a care home but now I love going to see her, the friendliest of staff has given me peace of mind and she is settled and enjoying life.

It is difficult to put into words the relief that my sister and I feel, now our mum has become a resident at Murrayside Care Home. Seeing her smile and experience joy as she participates in activities whilst staff encourage and interact with her as if they’ve been friends for years, is wonderful. Frontal
Temporal Dementia really is the long goodbye and we have not seen her smile like that in a long time. The intent was to keep Mum in her own home, but her symptoms worsened and supporting interventions did not meet her needs. A care home was the next step, yet we wrestled with feelings of failing her. We were reassured as the customer relations manager and team arranged admission at short notice, cleverly designed move-in day for an easy transition and day by day she is settling in. Mum has a beautiful bright room and is in receipt of tailored care of the highest standard which we receive regular updates on via emails and an App. Murrayside Care Home was the right decision, we wish we had moved Mum in sooner.

Our uncle moved in in November 2022. He has been very comfortable and so happy since then. The lovely staff have really engaged with him - he loves a good chat! He thoroughly enjoys all the activities offered to him - he had a very active life before moving in and really loves taking part. Thanks to

My husband moved to Murrayside Care Home four weeks ago, the staff have taken time to get to know him and adapt to his complex needs. He settled in almost immediately and is joining in activities. The staff will go to great lengths to involve the family about any care the resident requires. They put
on a couples afternoon tea for Valentine’s Day making it a special afternoon.

My aunt moved to Murrayside recently and we both appreciate the warm welcome and effort made by considerate, experienced staff to accommodate her needs and wishes and to help her integrate with the rhythm of daily life. She has enjoyed joining in with various activities and mealtimes in the dining room
and, following the restrictions of the Covid era, is appreciating the new opportunities open to her - such as a trip to the panto! Her room and the social areas are bright, clean and well-maintained. Moving from living independently to a care home inevitably has its challenges but I am very grateful to Murrayside for all they do to support my aunt as she settles into her new home.

My mum moved into Murrayside three weeks ago. The home is very comfortable and clean with spacious rooms and ensuite wet rooms. Mum was very apprehensive about moving from her own home. After one week she said that she couldn't imagine moving back to her flat and felt so settled that it was like she'd
been living there for a while. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and always available to answer any questions we may have. Mum has joined in the plentiful and varied entertainments and thoroughly enjoyed them. We are very happy that we chose Murrayside.

All the staff and setting at Murrayside Care Home made my father's transition from hospital to a new home as seamless as possible. My father has settled into Memory Lane very well and is brighter, healthier and more sociable than he has been for some months. I cannot thank the staff enough for making
him comfortable and happy again. They make him laugh.
He has a lovely room with a nice aspect from his window with some of his furniture and belongings from home.
Murrayside has given me peace of mind that he is safe and well looked after.

My mother has been at Murrayside for just over two months now and I am delighted she is settling in so well. I have found all the staff to be welcoming, friendly, caring and very professional. The whole care home is well designed and kept very clean, as well as having a very friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
It has great facilities, especially the cafe where Mum is a regular visitor. Mum has enjoyed many of the very varied activities offered and has been to quite a few concerts, singing along to songs, I never knew, she knew. Her health and outlook on life has certainly improved in the caring environment she is in. Long may it continue!

Everyone at Murrayside is so welcoming and friendly. There is always something for residents to do, the activities coordinators do a fantastic job at keeping everyone entertained. The cafe is a great place to catch up when visiting with an amazing view of the castle! Dad lived his best life at Murrayside.
I cannot recommend Murrayside highly enough, such a great care home.

My dad moved into the care home in August, settled in very quickly and seems to be known to many, if not all, of the staff. The staff seem very friendly and I am glad we chose Murrayside as it really is a lovely facility. He's not quite grasped the concept that he is not able to get on a bus to the
local supermarket and do his shopping, as he was a few months ago, but the staff are very patient with him and cajole him into staying in the care home unless he goes on an outing or we take him out. He has started getting more involved in the activities and thoroughly enjoyed the canal boat trip yesterday. Regarding the food, he enjoys most of the meals and when asked if he could have a banana at breakfast one day was delighted when a banana appeared on his plate! I am confident he will settle into a routine moving forward. Having him in a safe comfortable environment is a blessing.

My cousin and I were immediately taken with Murrayside, there is a lovely warmth and cosiness about the home. The residents rooms are attractively decorated and furnished with good ensuite facilities, residents can bring their own ornaments and pictures to make their room a little bit like home. The
staff have always been professional, friendly and reassuring to both mum and I, I am always made to feel welcome. It took mum a few weeks to settle but settle she has due to the sensitive and diligent care given by all the staff on mum's floor. I should also say that mum requires a wheat free diet which they have no issue providing, she often orders something not on the daily menu which is cooked fresh for her. It was a huge and emotional decision to move mum but I am so glad that we chose Murrayside as we can't fault it.

The home is well designed, particularly the residential ground floor, where most rooms offer individual patio door access to pleasantly laid out gardens and outside seating. The rooms themselves are tastefully decorated and furnished with a full sized, well equipped en-suite.

My mother was very
apprehensive about moving from her home of 47 years but thanks to the experienced and very caring staff she has slotted in exceptionally well and is now quite content, feeling safe, secure and even making a few friends. The staff are thoughtful and pragmatic too, allowing little personal touches like her customary finger of brandy every now and then.

At the 4 week review with social services, the team leader had all aspects of my mother’s day to day living at her fingertips, fully documented and to hand.
As a family we are more than pleased.

My sister and I have been thrilled at how quickly our mother has settled into Murrayside. The rooms are spacious, bright, airy, comfortable and very well appointed. The staff have proved to be professional, caring and totally focused on her well-being. In addition, they are always available to answer
any questions we may have. There always seems to be something going on; quizzes, games and all sorts of events to keep residents busy and engaged, and Mum is thriving on it all. Murrayside presents a safe, caring and vibrant environment for our mum, and we couldn't be happier with how she is doing!

Suzanne Welsh

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2021

I’m a qualified Registered General Nurse and I joined Care UK in 2015. I’d been working as an agency nurse prior to that but I felt it was time to find a permanent role and really settle into the adult care sector. I think as a home manager it’s important to know the residents and the colleagues in your team. They are central to delivering the best care, so ensuring they’re happy and content is all-important.


The best part of any day is the opportunity to chat with my team and our wonderful residents and their families. It’s important we feel like one big family at Murrayside, so spending time together is key to that. This is a fantastic care home and I’m exciting about leading the team to even greater things.


Away from my job I enjoy walking. I’m very into the Step Challenge and enjoy creating some healthy competition with colleagues, friends and family with that. I also enjoy socialising with friends and family whenever I can.

Job Title: Customer Relations Manager

I moved sector and city when I joined the Murrayside team in 2020, I used to be the Trainee Manager of a five-star hotel in Aberdeen. When the pandemic started, I decided it was time for a change, and here I am.


I’m so grateful that I made the move into care, and came back to Edinburgh. I started out at Murrayside as a Receptionist/Administrator and I’ve worked my way up the ladder. It was a huge career highlight for me to be promoted into my current role as Customer Relations Manager at Murrayside.


I feel huge pride in being part of the Murrayside family. I love showing people around our amazing home, introducing them to the team, and showing them everything we have to offer. When I can, I enjoy chatting to residents and even getting involved in activities. I love seeing the residents making the most of each day.
