Braeburn Lodge is a residential home located in Beenham, near Reading.

Opened in July 2018, Milkwood Care has totally transformed what used to be a public house, into a luxury 12 bedroom home for up to 14 residents which includes two double rooms. All rooms are tastefully decorated to the residents' colour wishes. You choose!

Each of the 12 en-suite bedrooms is individually designed and styled, each featuring a walk-in shower and private lounge area.

Residents and staff love this light and airy home that features generous living space and parking.

The home has retained many attractive, original character features of the old building.
Everyone at the home enjoys scenic views and access to beautifully landscaped gardens, featuring apple trees, fruit trees, a feature fish pond and the resident ducks!

The home offers around the clock 24/7 care as well as respite (pending room availability) for those who need a little respite, allowing their family member a well-earned break, holiday or special event (two week minimum respite care).

This home is the residents' home. The residents choose, they make their preferences known. The residents have choices on what they like, what they want and what makes them tick! The team listen and are privileged to work in the residents' home to support their every need.

Mum-in-law has been a resident at Braeburn Lodge Care Home for a number of years now and we are still delighted with the care that she receives there. The manager and staff are all wonderfully caring and do their utmost to ensure Mum’s happiness and healthcare are a priority. We are kept fully informed
as to how she is doing and are fully involved in any decision-making. The quality of food is excellent and the garden is an absolutely delightful asset - small things really but very important to Mum. We still have absolutely no regrets over our decision to choose Braeburn Lodge for her care and enjoy being involved with all of the social occasions too!

This care home is exactly that, a home that cares. My mother has been here since it opened nearly five years ago. The care and love shown by the staff is genuine as is the welcome members of the family are greeted with when arriving for a visit. The home is clean and fresh. Meals are cooked on site
and always smell delicious. I am always kept informed of anything going on with regards to my mother and I feel I can raise any problems I might have with the staff. There are a variety of activities laid on for those interested in joining in. Also if I arrive during these activities I am welcome to join them as well. The garden is colourful and the residents are encouraged to sit out on warm days and get involved with the summer planting. This care home in my opinion is second to none and I am delighted with the care my mother is given. I would wholeheartedly recommend going and having a look for yourselves.

We were struggling at home. Thank goodness we found Braeburn Lodge. My mother, now 92 years old, has settled really well into the warm, caring, homely environment, enjoying the activities and crafts. It's all down to the staff who show respect and fondness for the residents and cater for their individual
needs, which can be a challenge I'm sure. Led by their excellent manager and senior staff. Well done, keep going and thank you.

Extremely happy we found this home for my grandmother, through word-of-mouth recommendations. I and my family were anxious about putting my grandmother into care. After our first visit, I could see how amazing the staff were. I felt so welcomed and reassured. The staff go above and beyond and always
make sure we are comfortable when visiting. The food is fresh and looks delicious. my grandmother is so happy and enjoys all the activities. We enjoy seeing on the social media page, especially when we can't always visit it reassures us she is having a good time and kept busy! Previously working in an elderly care home myself I understand how important communication and quality of care are, I really cannot fault it and I wish all care homes were as good as this one. Thank you for looking after my grandmother Braeburn Lodge!

I am happy with my mother's care at Braeburn, although because of the pandemic, it is difficult to do a detailed review. The management are very helpful, especially the manager. They communicate well. The staff are friendly and caring. Most of all, my mum is settled and happy there.

My mother in law has been in Braeburn Lodge, for 7 weeks now. She is absolutely loving it. She has settled very well. All the staff are lovely and very dedicated to the residents. Care is very good and so are the meals. It certainly is home from home. Residents are being treated with lots of respect.
Would certainly recommend this care home.

My mum, who has Alzheimer's, has been living at Braeburn Lodge for over a year now and the care she receives there is wonderful. They always have so many different activities and outings for mum to get involved in. She has made some lovely new friends (both other residents and staff members) and is
enjoying day-to-day life. The staff keep myself and my sister updated and involved in mum's care. It was very difficult to come to the decision that we needed to find a care home for mum, but Braeburn Lodge made mum feel so welcome as soon as she arrived. She quickly settled there and now regularly tells us how much she enjoys being there. I feel so reassured that mum is happy, well cared for and safe.

During the last difficult months of Covid, the staff have managed all the ever-changing guidelines and kept the residents safe, whilst supporting families who were unable to visit. Now that visits have started again I am always greeted with a smile. They are all amazing.

Braeburn is a small care home which makes it feel just like an extended family home. Every resident is embraced into the ‘Braeburn Family" - there is the family dog ‘Romeo’ who loves cuddles, a pet rabbit and a family of ducks in the garden. It's a happy place to be. My mother suffers with dementia
and has been at Braeburn for just over a year. During this time she has sadly deteriorated which has required a high level of support. I cannot praise the carers enough, for their patience, kindness and genuine affection which has continued despite the issues arising from the Covid pandemic. Nothing is too much trouble. Over the past year, relatives have been kept updated on the actions taken and the procedures put in place. Through incredible vigilance and hard work - the staff have kept everyone safe and well. They have made a difficult year bearable - to see my mum so happy and looked after, has been a huge comfort to the family.
We feel so lucky that Mum lives at Braeburn Lodge.

Mum is happily settled at Braeburn Lodge. She loves the food, staff, the ducks in the garden and her comfortable room. The Braeburn staff have been very caring to mum and the wider family. Braeburn Lodge feels more like an upmarket guesthouse than a care home. So clean and fresh, the staff always helpful.
It is very reassuring for us to know mum is so well looked after.

Braeburn Lodge is a wonderful care home that feels like a family home. The kind and caring staff couldn't do enough for my Mum, who due to her dementia, could be difficult at times. The home was always spotlessly clean and there was always some sort of entertainment going on when I went to visit.

Braeburn Lodge could not have looked after my father better. He had severe dementia and he was extremely happy to be at Braeburn. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for the way they cared for him, from the day he arrived until his passing, which they dealt with in a professional and sensitive manner.
The staff are excellent, caring and compassionate. They go above and beyond to make sure that everyone in the Braeburn family is happy from the residents to their families. Even though this is a small care home plenty of entertainment and activities are provided to engage the residents. They have done a marvelous job during the most testing time that we have all had to endure under the COVID-19 restrictions. They took early action to ensure their residents stayed safe.

I don’t get to visit often, but have been made welcome on every occasion and found Grandma in a well-cared-for state every time. The accommodation always appears clean and looked after. The management and staff have taken Covid restrictions seriously and to their credit kept the virus out for many months.
They were also very responsive when there was a positive test amongst staff and prevented it from spreading. I could never afford to be cared for here.

Braeburn Lodge is small and intimate with excellent staff that are always friendly, very approachable, extremely kind and attentive to all the residents and family members. It is perfect for my mum, especially with all the visiting and resident animals. The food always looks and smells absolutely fabulous.
Nothing is to much trouble for anybody involved with the running/caring at Braeburn Lodge.

I cannot find enough superlatives to describe or recommend Braeburn - they are truly wonderful. So pleased to be lucky enough to find our Mum, who has dementia, a home here - and a home is what it is, in every sense of the word. Knowing that she was being cared for by her Braeburn family in lockdown,
has been a massive comfort. She always looks so happy. I love the things they do from the extra steps they take to celebrate special occasions, down to day to day hands-on everyday things such as helping fold the washing - normal things. My only wish is that my Dad could have seen how happy and settled she is, despite his fears, while he was alive about how she’d cope without him. He’d have been so relieved.

My grandmother moved here in 2019 after a fall at home. She loved it from the moment she walked in. The home is lovely and welcoming and the staff really are fantastic - catering for her every need. The personal service is second to none and since she has been there, she has thrived. Highly recommended.

My father in law has recently moved to Braeburn Lodge. He is severely affected by dementia. We have only praise for the staff at Braeburn. They have been patient, kind, caring and understanding of all dad's needs during this early settling in period. Our daily enquiries have been met with honesty and
kindness. They have treated all his needs professionally and with respect.
We are still very new to the care system, Braeburn Lodge exceeds our expectations and we would recommend it without reservation.

My mother is now a resident here and suffers from dementia. The staff have been marvellous at settling her in and making her feel welcome. There are only 12 rooms so it has the feel of a guesthouse rather than a care home. It's very light, airy and modern with a large communal kitchen, living room
and conservatory, as well as a lovely garden.
I'd always promised my mother I'd never put her in a home; however, it had reached the point where it was no longer safe for her to stay in her own home. I'm so relieved to know she is somewhere where she is well looked after, has lots of activities, social stimulation and lots of trips out too.
She's settled in really well and I would definitely recommend Braeburn Lodge.
