Lighthouse Lodge has a range of facilities including comfortable lounges, a health & beauty salon, beautiful gardens and even a roof-top terrace with views over the Mersey. Friends and family are welcome at any time and there is a kitchenette available for all residents and visitors to make teas and coffees!

Lighthouse Lodge understands the importance of a well-balanced and nutritious diet and therefore, a carefully selected team produces home-cooked meals onsite daily. Crafted with care and attention, the menu incorporates resident’s preferences and cultural or dietary requirements.

Friends & family can join residents' for meals if there have been prior arrangements.

Their very own in-house lifestyle and wellbeing team organise daily schedules filled with activities and outings. There is never a dull moment and the team are dedicated to making their residents’ home a happy, vibrant and fun place to live! There is always something fun going on around every corner.

Visit my auntie every Wednesday in this nursing home. Every time I visit, I am greeted by a member of reception with a smile and a friendly conversation. Always clean, with good decor. All staff I have come across are friendly and caring. Would have no problem recommending this lovely nursing home to
anyone who would need one.

My mum has thrived in here, health-wise. She is not social so all the wonderful activities we have trouble encouraging her to do but what you put on is amazing. The only downside is food, she is constantly dissatisfied but will not speak up (cold, hard veg, just not enjoyable) and the menu was one of
the things we were impressed with at first as Mum wasn't eating. For the price we pay, food is a disappointment. Staff are fabulous!

You never get a second chance of a first impression. As soon as I walked into Lighthouse Lodge the reception was warm and welcoming. I booked my husband in for respite having spent many weeks in hospital. The whole team do an excellent job. All carers, kitchen staff, laundry, housekeeping, managers,
entertainment is 10/10.
Would certainly recommend this care home.

I used Lighthouse Lodge for respite care for my 89-year-old mother in September 2023. The stay was booked very quickly as due to unforeseen circumstances I had to arrange full-time care for her for 2 weeks. The Lodge was clean, bright and airy. The staff were very helpful and each time I rang to check
Mum's progress they were knowledgeable about her care. Mum returned home in a much better state of health. I would definitely recommend Lighthouse Lodge to friends and family. Well done everyone!

My mum, 93 years of age, has been in Lighthouse Lodge for nearly five months and I am extremely happy with the care you have given her over this time. Since she arrived from a long stay in the hospital, after numerous falls, her health has improved and has even gained a bit of weight. When I visit,
she always looks clean and tidy. All the staff on Vale ward are excellent in caring for my mum. I cannot praise them enough, I must also mention all the entertainment girls who do a great job and not forgetting the reception staff who are so welcoming on my visits. I just would like to thank you all.

Really wished I had listened to the rumours surrounding Lighthouse Lodge regarding their staffing problems! Instead, I chose to ignore them and go see for myself. Every question I had was answered so I felt reassured. Sadly my mum has been dreadfully let down and her end-of-life care is now up in the
air. The home claimed on the show around that if a resident declines in the care side they are guaranteed a bed in the Marine View Lodge - and if the Marine View Lodge had no beds the Lighthouse Lodge would still accommodate until a bed becomes available. Sadly this has not been the case so they terminated my mum's contract whilst in the hospital and left her homeless to find palliative care. The staff on the floors - what they had of them were excellent there, just wasn’t enough with some of my visits having no staff present on the floor at all! Really be sure before moving a loved one in. I wish I listened.

Regrettably, given the shortage of care staff available for full-time employment, that sometimes means we need to use agency staff. But there is always the required number of staff. Lighthouse Lodge provides and is only registered to provide residential care. Our sister home, Marine View Lodge, provides and is registered to provide, nursing care. We are sure that you will have been told that if your mother, as a resident of Lighthouse Lodge, were to decline to such an extent that nursing care was required, she could move to Marine View if a bed was available. We cannot ever guarantee that a bed will be available and we are sorry that you misunderstood that we could. We are sorry that you feel let down, but we cannot breach Lighthouse Lodge’s registration by re-admitting from hospital when your mum requires nursing care

Our wonderful Dad sadly passed away this year, 2023. The love, care and support that not only Dad but also the family were given by the Vale team, at such an emotional time was second to none.
Throughout Dad's 2yr stay at Lighthouse Lodge he was treated with dignity, spent lots of time having fun
and laughter with the staff (our adopted extended family) and could not have been happier. We as a family have nothing but praise for the amazing group of people who enriched Dad's life and gave us peace of mind that he was being well looked after.

My mother sadly passed away after fourteen months of outstanding care from a highly professional and compassionate team who treated my mother as an individual and with dignity. They enriched her quality of life in the time she was with them. This unit is streets ahead of its competitors, and as a retired
registered nurse I was impressed from day one by their high standards. I would like to thank all the staff for caring for my feisty independent-minded mother who was happy to be a resident in Lighthouse Lodge.

My uncle came to Lighthouse Lodge Care Home for four weeks respite care. During his short stay here he was treated with dignity, care and was able to interact and join in all the activities that are provided.
The staff are so kind and caring and my uncle came out with a knowledge of reassurance to

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The home is extremely clean and modern, almost like a hotel. The facilities are good. Could do with more activities and a better choice of food.

Thank you for your review. Our housekeeping team have very high standards of cleanliness and always keep the Lodge looking lovely, thank you for your kind comments. We have a full and varied activities program each week with different activities every day (in the morning and in the afternoon). The weekly schedule is on display in our reception for families to view and is also posted on our Facebook page. This week there are chair exercises, a choir afternoon, the NHS 74th Birthday celebration, a quiz, a pamper morning, bingo, world chocolate tasting for World Chocolate Day, a visit to the Light Cinema, 1-2-1's, a reminisce morning, a gardening afternoon, Songs of Praise and arts & crafts; the schedule changes weekly. We also have singers and entertainers visit the Lodge. Our daily menu is also displayed on reception and is very varied; residents are always given choice of meals rather than one option. When we first visited Lighthouse Lodge my mother-in-law was going through a very worrying time, her home was closing down. We did not know what to do. We went to several local care homes but nothing quite suited. On our first visit to Lighthouse Lodge, we met with the Lodge Service Advisor. We were

After a lot of heartache and research, we as a family decided it would be better and safer for our dad to go into Lighthouse Lodge as he needed 24-hour care and we couldn't look after him 24-7. We decided on Lighthouse Lodge as it was new, clean, and has plenty going on for the residents. After being
in there for 27-months we now know we made the right decision for him, from reception to management, cleaners to entertainment staff, nothing is too much trouble. Everyone there is on hand to help. Dad is always clean and tidy when we visit and we can pop in at any time, Covid-19 allowing. The staff treat him like family and look after him as good as we would do if he was at home, his room is spotlessly clean and tidy, the food and treats are great and most weeks there's a party going, no excuse needed. If we can't visit with Covid-19 restrictions, we know we can phone up at any time to ask how he is and know that if he's not ok a doctor would be called out to check him over.

I consider this to be a very good care home. I am comfortable here and my room is well furnished. I have a good bathroom and everywhere is kept very clean. The staff are excellent but sometimes are very rushed if illness creates shortages. I have struggled with some of the food but I think it has improved
recently.

My mum was a resident for sixteen months until she passed away. I chose Lighthouse Lodge without being able to visit due to covid. I formed my decision by reviewing and speaking to relatives of residents who all could not praise the care enough.
I was kept updated on all aspects of mum's care by the
Unit Leads, they have direct access to the Doctors surgery, all medical issues were dealt with promptly.
I visited regularly without notice and she was always immaculate with her hair and makeup done. I enjoyed having lunch with her and the food was exceptional.
The facilities are kept spotlessly clean. Clothes are laundered and returned daily. Activities staff are amazing fun and bring so much joy with inventive engaging activities.
I stayed with mum as she entered the end of life, I saw the level of care she received which was professional, dignified, caring and loving. I believe Lighthouse to be the best care facility on the Wirral and I cannot thank the Manager and her team enough.

My auntie has been living here for eighteen months. Every time I visit she always comments on how nice and kind the staff are. Sadly she doesn't participate in any of the activities despite the staff encouragement, but she is well cared for and safe.

Job Title: Registered Lodge Manager

As Home Manager, I am proud and privileged to work at Lighthouse Lodge and to have been given the opportunity to work in a career that I love. Having worked in care for 20 years, I have progressed within my role as a Home Manager by gaining qualifications to achieve The Registered Managers Award and Level 4 in Adult Social Care.


As well as gaining experience working with the elderly, including those living with Dementia, I have discovered a great passion for helping provide an excellent standard of care in all aspects of the care sector.


At Lighthouse Lodge, we offer a welcoming home with a range of high-quality amenities and activities. We like to make sure our residents’ opinions are voiced and heard, encouraging all staff and residents to bring new ideas for us to include in our programme of care to improve well-being and help build friendships to ensure you continue to live your life to the full.

I am the Lodge Service Adviser for Athena Healthcare Group at Marine View Lodge and Lighthouse Lodge, Wirral. I provide families with information required when considering a care home for their relative. The first point of contact and advise enquirers about the different types of care we provide, our Lodge features and the process involved for a relative moving into our Care Homes.


Enjoy showing families around the Lodges and answering any questions they may have, I assist them right up to admission of their relative and am always on hand thereafter. I love meeting families, prospective residents and helping to make the move into our Care Homes the best experience it can be.


My role also involves building relationships in the community working with organisations, businesses, charities etc and providing information in relation to the care provided at Athena Healthcare.


I enjoy spending time with my family, and I love dogs. I enjoy walking my dog, Buddy.
