Lighthouse Lodge understands the importance of a well-balanced and nutritious diet and therefore, a carefully selected team produces home-cooked meals onsite daily. Crafted with care and attention, the menu incorporates resident’s preferences and cultural or dietary requirements.

Friends & family can join residents' for meals if there have been prior arrangements.

Their very own in-house lifestyle and wellbeing team organise daily schedules filled with activities and outings. There is never a dull moment and the team are dedicated to making their residents’ home a happy, vibrant and fun place to live! There is always something fun going on around every corner.

My mother has advanced Alzheimer's Disease and has been at Lighthouse Lodge since November, 2020. I live in the United States, so I have never visited the facility. As a result of an emergency, I was able to place my mother, with help from close family, from the other side of the world because the staff
were wonderful and receptive to the circumstances. The care she receives is outstanding. Everyone is friendly and loving and I always get the sense of genuine caring for the residents. Although I'm so far away, there is a system where I can have a video call with my mother every week. She is unable to use a phone, but she can see me on her television in her room. It works really well! Photos of fun activities are displayed on Facebook. The facility is beautiful and the food looks delicious. The most important thing is that my mother is happy there and I have the peace of mind knowing that she is so well cared for. I highly recommend Lighthouse Lodge!

Making the decision to put my husband into full-time care was a very difficult one. The management was fantastic. She was empathic, supportive and very informative. I could not have asked for more. My aunt has been living at Lighthouse Lodge for just over two years now, the care she has received during this period has been wonderful. All staff have been so kind and caring. When we were able, I used to love to visit, not only my aunt, but also enjoy the other residents and staff also. Let's hope
we can get back to normal again soon. During this lockdown period the staff have kept me informed regarding my aunt's welfare! I can't thank them enough!

This is a quality home in terms of care and support for residents and their families. I have remained a weekly visitor since my aunt was admitted. The only alterations to that schedule were during the time of lockdown restrictions. I have maximised the visit arrangements made during that time. Screen
visits are highly organised. Booking by telephone is easy. I have been able to build up a rapport with the house and front-of-house staff. My single concern is to ensure that as a blood relative of my aunt, my name is firmly secure as a contactable relative if needed. This was a firm request. This had not been attended to in the early stages. I am not an LPA because that position has been allocated to a non-family member, related only to the pre-deceased husband of my aunt. I am hoping that the request has been rectified. It is always a joy to visit Lighthouse Lodge.

My sister has dementia but, at 61, is really young. When it became impossible for her to continue to live alone the family searched for somewhere that would not only cater for her individual needs but also keep her stimulated. Even although covid restrictions have prevented us from normal relaxed visits
we can see from past social media posts that families are usually welcomed and encouraged to integrate with the Lighthouse family and attend the many fun days they have. My sister is thriving at Lighthouse, the staff are wonderful and professional and the brilliant program of activities keeps residents stimulated. It’s lovely to see daily posts and photos on FaceBook.

My father in law has been a resident at Lighthouse Lodge for about 18 months now. He is 99 years old and from day one, I was impressed with the all round professionalism of the staff and management, especially the registered manager. The care staff show such respect for the residents and families keeping
the resident's dignity intact with a heartfelt empathy for them. Nothing is too much trouble and their one to one skills are superb! They keep residents spirits up at all times, which for everyone this year must not have been easy with very little contact with the family. I would thoroughly recommend Lighthouse Lodge to anyone considering finding somewhere for their loved ones in their autumn years.

Lighthouse Lodge is a very well presented purpose-built facility. Mum has been in both nursing and residential care. On-site facilities and activities are regular and varied. The one failing, in my opinion, is the standard of some of the staff. Some are excellent, especially the activity workers but
unfortunately, some of the care staff are well below what is expected. Maybe with a recent change of manager, this will change.

My Mum has been at Lighthouse Lodge for a year now and we are all delighted with the care she has received. The facility is beautiful and the staff are so caring. Mum struggled for two years with in-home care due to dementia and other mental health issues and in the end, there was no alternative but
to move her to full-time care. I certainly wish we had been able to take Mum to Lighthouse Lodge earlier, her mental health has stabilised, she is so much healthier and happier now. As my brother and I live overseas it is difficult to stay in touch but staff regularly post pictures and video updates of all the activities they have every day - looks like everyone is having fun and is happy. The staff also initiate face time calls with Mum and I, which is really lovely.
Thanks so much to all of the Team for taking care of Mum, we know it can’t be easy especially in these challenging times.

My mum went into Lighthouse Lodge in early June as she was struggling at home. She settled in very quickly. The staff were brilliant with her and looked after her very well. There were various activities available each day that she joined in with and it was very helpful to my Dad to be able to talk
to her regularly on FaceTime and to see the pictures of her on Facebook.
I would not hesitate to recommend Lighthouse Lodge to any family considering care for their loved ones.

My mum became a permanent resident of Lighthouse Lodge last October. From the very first day the staff were kind and caring and all of them made every effort to help her settle in quickly.
On June 7th Mum reached 100 years of age and despite the constraints of the Covid-19 lockdown the staff made
the day a very memorable one: A ‘royal’ procession’ down her corridor, with fellow residents forming a guard of honour, to the brightly decorated lounge full of balloons and banners. Lovely food including an amazing birthday cake plus a spot of alcohol! The staff spent time making sure she could Facetime her grand and great grand children and patiently read out her birthday cards to her. They also made us comfortable outside the window of the Foyer so that we could spend a couple of hours celebrating the memorable day with her. We believe the day ended with Karaoke in the Lounge! What outstanding carers Lighthouse lodge have. You could do no better!

We are so lucky to have fantastic technology within the home, and able to keep in touch with families. We are celebrating Wear a Hat with Flowers day today, with canapes, cakes and prosecco galore. Watch out for the pictures of that!

My dad suffered a second stroke on 28th February 2020 and on 27 March 2020 he was moved to Lighthouse Lodge from the Acute Stroke Unit at hospital at quite short notice (less than 24 hours). Because of the lockdown, neither I nor my sister was able to visit beforehand. We did have the opportunity of
reading the very good reviews and, because there was no alternative, had to keep our fingers firmly crossed.
As it has turned out Dad`s move to Lighthouse Lodge (the day before my birthday) has been the best "birthday present" that I have ever enjoyed. The staff have looked after him brilliantly and he is clearly enjoying every day with them. In a conversation with him earlier this week he described one of his carers as "a lovely young lady" and that is clearly what she is. I am looking forward to a visit, once permitted, but for the moment have to give the Lodge ten out of ten for their efforts and their kindness to Dad to date.

Dad moved from another care home to Lighthouse Lodge in February 2020. We are so glad that we made this choice of care home. The love, care, respect and dignity that the staff show to the residents is second to none. Dad has a new spring in his step, is more alert and is so much happier as everyone
at Lighthouse Lodge take time out to stop and have a chat and brighten up his day.
Activities geared to individual interests, regular entertainment (before lockdown), dancing, singing, WhatsApp video calls to family plus so much more keeps the residents spirits up, especially at this difficult time.
Families are kept up to date, and there is always someone available to answer any queries.
Our family cannot thank this amazing team enough for keeping our dad and the other residents safe and well whilst we have been unable to visit.

Job Title: Registered Lodge Manager

As Home Manager, I am proud and privileged to work at Lighthouse Lodge and to have been given the opportunity to work in a career that I love. Having worked in care for 20 years, I have progressed within my role as a Home Manager by gaining qualifications to achieve The Registered Managers Award and Level 4 in Adult Social Care.


As well as gaining experience working with the elderly, including those living with Dementia, I have discovered a great passion for helping provide an excellent standard of care in all aspects of the care sector.


At Lighthouse Lodge, we offer a welcoming home with a range of high-quality amenities and activities. We like to make sure our residents’ opinions are voiced and heard, encouraging all staff and residents to bring new ideas for us to include in our programme of care to improve well-being and help build friendships to ensure you continue to live your life to the full.

I am the Lodge Service Adviser for Athena Healthcare Group at Marine View Lodge and Lighthouse Lodge, Wirral. I provide families with information required when considering a care home for their relative. The first point of contact and advise enquirers about the different types of care we provide, our Lodge features and the process involved for a relative moving into our Care Homes.


Enjoy showing families around the Lodges and answering any questions they may have, I assist them right up to admission of their relative and am always on hand thereafter. I love meeting families, prospective residents and helping to make the move into our Care Homes the best experience it can be.


My role also involves building relationships in the community working with organisations, businesses, charities etc and providing information in relation to the care provided at Athena Healthcare.


I enjoy spending time with my family, and I love dogs. I enjoy walking my dog, Buddy.
