Cramond Residence is located in the tranquil village of Cramond.

Opened in 2018, this established care home can accommodate up to 74 older people in luxurious and comfortable surroundings.

It offers the finest standards of care for older people including nursing, respite, dementia care and post operative rehabilitation. Health professionals work with residents, families and carers to thoroughly assess individual needs and prepare a bespoke care plan to promote physical and mental wellbeing and independence.

This may include physiotherapy, specialist dementia care, wound management, activities or a nutritional and balanced eating plan.

The home is comprised of nine separate houses each of which with eight or nine en-suite bedrooms, shared lounges, dining rooms and activity rooms. The home also has a fine dining room where families can hold celebrations such as an anniversary, birthday or simply just a family get together.

The houses are designed and themed after well-known areas in Edinburgh.

There is also a hair and beauty salon, cinema, library, physiotherapy area and a delightful reception area with coffee and snacks available.

The home has a wide range of activities on offer to support people to have the happiest, active and fulfilling lives. High quality, seasonal food is freshly prepared by two chefs to be nutritionally balanced and to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements.

My daughter organised my stay at the Cramond Residence in July this year. For me, my stay turned out to be the most enjoyable experience. My room in Bonaly was a good size for an en suite which was well maintained throughout my stay thanks to an efficient cleaning staff. As soon as I arrived at reception
I was made most welcome, which put me at my ease. The nursing staff were very caring and most pleasant throughout my stay. They coped well with my immobility. I found the food to be a good standard and I enjoyed a lager with my lunch and wine at dinner. The activities were quite varied. I was not able to take advantage of some of the facilities provided. Doing exercises to a video was beyond me! The grounds were well-planned and immaculately maintained giving the residence an excellent appearance. It gave me the opportunity to sit outside in the sun.

We placed our grandmother into Crammond Residence for what was supposed to be a short period of time. She, unfortunately, had a fall and went downhill. The staff at this care home are amazing, every one of them treated my grandmother with the utmost respect and dignity right up until the end. The standards
of cleanliness, security and facilities are second to none. It isn't by any means the cheapest care home but they definitely do provide! You can't put a price on family members and this home was outstanding. If looking for somewhere in Edinburgh with that extra flare and have the means then look no further!

This was the second time my elderly aunt spent some time at the Cramond Residence. Just as was the case the first time, our contact and conversations during urgent arrangements for the recuperation (after hip fracture) stay were flawless and exemplary. The client liaison manager is exceptionally helpful
and ensured that everything and everyone was ready for my aunt on her arrival.
The place is beautiful, clean, cheerful and feels rather more like a hotel than a care home.
The carers, nurses, receptionists, cleaners, physios, cooks, as well as visiting doctors and others (hairdressers etc.) could not have been nicer, more professional or more competent.
We were delighted with every aspect of my aunt's care and she returned home after about eight weeks far stronger and more mobile. We have no hesitation in her returning for respite in the future. We just have to hope that there will be space. It is a superb place!

My mum was unable to receive the palliative care she needed at home after unsuccessful cancer treatment in the autumn of last year. She moved into Cramond Residence in February and received excellent care during her final four months.
Her room was a good size, well decorated and made to feel her own.
The care provided was excellent and the team kept me in touch with developments during those periods when I was not able to visit.
The nights were particularly difficult for Mum as she tended to doze during the day. She was particularly grateful for the conversations which took place with the care staff during those times.
Food and drink were always a good standard with the staff keen to meet requests for particular items.
My mother-in-law is still a resident at Cramond and everything that applies to my mum's stay is true for her.
I have recommended Cramond to friends seeking care for elderly relatives given the excellent experience we have had.

Great place for my husband to stay when I'm on a respite break. Wonderful staff and lots of individual attention are given to the residents. Meals are top-notch and plentiful too. The facilities are second to none, and the home is set in a wonderful location too.

I was in desperate need of a break from caring for my elderly mum, and Cramond Residence answered my prayers. My mum had a 16-night respite break with them in May this year, and it all went very well. I could not fault the care and attention given to every detail - from the home visit to asses Mum's
needs prior to her stay to the welcome on arrival and assistance with cases. The whole process was made as easy and pleasant as possible for us. I had a really enjoyable holiday and much-needed rest, knowing Mum was in good hands. Everything about the way Cramond Residence is run is very professionally organised and focuses on delivering excellent service across the board. Mum was very happy when I met her to bring her home and was quite moved saying goodbye to a number of the staff. I also found that she was mobilising more confidently at home following her stay at Cramond Residence. I would certainly recommend this beautiful care home and use it again should the need arise.

My husband and I spent two weeks in Cramond Residence for respite. My husband needs a lot of attention and I needed a rest.
Our time there was perfect. It covered everything we both needed. For us, the most important thing was the attention given to both of us by the staff. Everyone we came in contact
with was amazing in every way - attentive, friendly, respectful and a bit of fun.
The residence is beautiful, the food is great and the activities are there if you want them. We like that there were three different “houses” which meant that nowhere seemed very busy and you had your own team of carers for your area. It felt very personal. There was still interaction between the three areas.
This is the third time we have used Cramond. We had a friend who moved in permanently, having already been there for respite, my husband was there for three weeks after a hospital stay and then our most recent one together.
We would, if the occasion arose, be more than happy to return.

My father has stayed here for respite care. The rooms are lovely as are the gardens. The staff are very friendly and caring.
There are some lovely events also such as the recent Jubilee celebration as well as trips out.

On the evening before the day that my mum was staying with you for a two-week respite, the family received a phone call that there was an outbreak of Covid so obviously the activities and things that were offered were minimum. The chef and staff sang and made a lovely cake for her, only four of the
allowed family on her birthday were allowed to visit. Most of the time a visitor came to visit, my mum was alone in the tv/bedroom asleep. Unfortunately with the Covid outbreak there we don’t think my mum got the full treatment we expected and paid for, not the staff's fault just the timing of her stay.

We were going on holiday and placed our father in Cramond Residence for respite care as being in his 90s we were concerned about leaving him in his home on his own. Our father had no experience of care homes and we all were slightly concerned about how he would settle. Our concerns were not justified
as he thoroughly enjoyed his stay. He was taken on outings, the staff were approachable and friendly and there was a good choice of homemade food. His stay was so successful, he now returns to visit friends he made in the home and to enjoy coffee and cake.

My mother entered this home in February 2022. They went to great lengths to accommodate my mother at short notice and thereafter to manage her moves through to her eventual permanent room. They were extremely efficient in the management of this and did everything to make this massive step for my mother
as easy as possible. Managing the Covid regime has been a challenge for everyone but I think that they have handled this well with good communication when issues arose. The staff are all pleasant and welcoming and seem to get on well with my mother. With all businesses right now I do think they are having challenges with recruitment and retention. Hopefully a settled and fully staffed team can be sorted in the near future. This I think from time to time has perhaps not made things quite as slick as the management might have wanted. Overall I would consider the service, facility and staff to be five-star and they have all pulled out the stops to make my mother feel comfortable and happy.

Having visited a number of local care homes, my wife and I decided Cramond Residence was by far the best place to support all of her needs associated with her dementia and MS. The custom-built facilities are excellent and the staff are attentive, caring and always available. There is a happy, relaxed
atmosphere and nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff to ensure the comfort of residents and visitors.

I was deliberating on a possible care home for myself (92 and in a sheltered self-owned block of flats for the elderly) or trying to stay in my flat with more support. The whole atmosphere at Cramond was refreshing and welcoming. The rooms were large well-lit, with a separate shower room. Plenty of
lounges and dining arrangements. I was told they could take my wife (87 short-term memory loss and in another care home since 2016). Cramond Residence opened in 2017 and is unique in Scotland in that it is a private company. Very thoughtfully designed with the needs of the residents the prime concern.

I stayed at the Cramond Residence following major surgery. I was very happy with my stay, every member of staff was kind, caring and attentive. This is without a doubt the best care home that I have ever been to. My mum came in for eleven weeks for respite when my father was in hospital. Everything about her respite was first-class.

My mother has been a resident since June 2021. My mother had been living independently, but Dementia and Alzheimer's had made that impossible. It was a difficult decision for all of us. Cramond staff, however, made the transition as easy as it could be. Staff in all functions supported my mother and
the family. My mother’s level of functioning has declined further, as would be expected, and staff have provided all the support and care that my mother needs and I could have wished for. So many of your staff show mum immense kindness and tolerance. She feels at home there now, though it took time. She treats staff there as if they were family, which is a testament to them and how comfortable she feels. Moving my mother into residential care was a difficult decision, particularly at a time of Covid. However, it was undoubtedly the best decision for her.

My mother stayed at the Cramond Residence Care Home for 2 weeks' respite care in November. It was the first time she had stayed in a care home and her experience was remarkably positive. She was well-received on her arrival. Her room was very comfortable and the whole experience was more like being
in a quality hotel. The meals were very good and offered a lot of variety. There were plenty of carers on hand, always ready to respond to any particular request she had. Overall, while she prefers to stay in her own home, when she does require to stay in a home again this is the one she will choose.

My wife has visited Cramond Residence Care Home twice for respite and has enjoyed her breaks from home life.
The accommodation is excellent and the staff are considerate and helpful. She found the food was very good and occasionally she joined others at meals. As she has Parkinson's her bed was fitted
with help rails and overnight arrangements were all met for her.
It has been a great help for me as her carer at home to recharge my batteries and hope to have respite in the future.
