Cramond Residence is located in the tranquil village of Cramond.

Opened in 2018, this established care home can accommodate up to 74 older people in luxurious and comfortable surroundings.

It offers the finest standards of care for older people including nursing, respite, dementia care and post operative rehabilitation. Health professionals work with residents, families and carers to thoroughly assess individual needs and prepare a bespoke care plan to promote physical and mental wellbeing and independence.

This may include physiotherapy, specialist dementia care, wound management, activities or a nutritional and balanced eating plan.

The home is comprised of nine separate houses each of which with eight or nine en-suite bedrooms, shared lounges, dining rooms and activity rooms. The home also has a fine dining room where families can hold celebrations such as an anniversary, birthday or simply just a family get together.

The houses are designed and themed after well-known areas in Edinburgh.

There is also a hair and beauty salon, cinema, library, physiotherapy area and a delightful reception area with coffee and snacks available.

The home has a wide range of activities on offer to support people to have the happiest, active and fulfilling lives. High quality, seasonal food is freshly prepared by two chefs to be nutritionally balanced and to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements.

Mum has stayed in the Cramond Residence twice now in the past twelve months for respite or recuperation from falls at home and both times the standard of care has been outstanding. Being modern and fairly new it's extremely well designed and feels more like a five-star hotel than a care home with beautiful
rooms and excellent facilities. The staff were all very caring and friendly and always took time to have a good chat with mum no matter how busy they were at the time. I really can't praise them enough. Her appetite and weight were not good at all before she visited -especially after a hospital stay - but the food at Cramond was absolutely excellent and she thoroughly enjoyed it including all the home baking. All the meals were very well nutritionally balanced which greatly helped her recovery too and she gained weight both times. Mum also had physiotherapy twice a week while she was in which also substantially helped her recovery and walking. I would highly recommend it.

My father has been a resident at Cramond for over a year and has flourished in a welcoming and friendly environment there. The level of medical and general care and the one-to-one support has been excellent, with plenty of time for regular interaction with staff members. His room is comfortable and
bright with good bathroom facilities. Equally important are the many comfortable communal spaces where he can interact with other residents and meet friends and family (albeit not in the COVID-19 crisis).


The food at the care home is excellent with a good choice of tasty and nutritious meals. The ability to book the dining experience and share special occasions with family and friends has proved very successful and has been greatly enjoyed by my father.


I would particularly emphasise the flexibility of the staff, ensuring that his individual needs are met. He has been supported to pursue his academic interests in the home which is very important for his wellbeing.

I spent a week at Cramond for planned respite care. My room was immaculate, bright and very comfortable. The staff were very good, kind and helpful. My sister has been in Cramond Residence now for six months and we as a family are very happy with everything about this Home. All staff from managers, carers and all other staff have been wonderful.
We have never had any complaints about anything or anyone. I really cannot praise the staff enough.
It’s such a relief to see your relative so well looked after.
From the time you enter the building, you are made very welcome. Reception staff are all so friendly and helpful. The cafe area is a great idea and very welcoming for visitors and residents alike and the Fine Dining is superb. We have been lucky enough to book it for my sister’s birthday. The catering staff here were so attentive and helped to make our day so special.

Cramond Residence, in my opinion, provides the highest possible professional care for its residents: nursing; welfare; recreational; wellbeing; out-sourced clinical.


Cramond Residence presents itself as a select boutique hotel and lacks any hint of institutional touches associated with standard care

facilities. The level of decor, furnishings, en-suite rooms, public/socialising areas is second to none.


Outside of the Covid-19 lock-down, the daily programme of activities and visits was varied and regular.


Cleanliness and hygiene are key.


Catering is of a high standard and for those residents who enjoy a pre-dinner drink, and wine with their meal in restaurant-style surroundings, all is provided at Cramond Residence.


The staff, at every level, appears to be committed to providing the best possible support and care for residents. Interaction with and communication by staff with family members are regular and informative, as well as having dynamic access to all information on the app.

We spent a long time selecting a suitable nursing home for our Father. We looked at six and there was only one other that came close to Cramond. The reasons for choosing Cramond were the following:
1. It is extremely new and the standard of rooms is extremely high in terms of space and quality of fittings.
All rooms are en-suite with bathroom facilities spacious.
2. It does not feel like a nursing home, more like an upmarket hotel.
3. Corridors are very wide.
4. Dining room is lovely and rooms for sitting with our Father are very comfortable.
5. Very impressed by our initial meetings with all staff.
Our Father has been at Cramond since Dec. 19 and our initial impressions and feelings have proved to be accurate. There is plenty of staff to care for the residents and they treat the residents extremely well and with dignity. There are plenty of organised activities for the residents to join in with. It is expensive but then it is probably the best in Edinburgh.

My mother is currently staying at Cramond Residence and is having respite care. This is her second visit in the last 12 months, having loved her first visit. Being able to have her spend a few weeks at a time in Cramond has been a great support for her and also a massive relief for our family. She is
extremely well looked after, the staff are fantastic and the food and facilities are excellent. It's a real break for her and an opportunity for us all to recharge the batteries, knowing she is in great hands. Her second visit was arranged very last minute when we felt she needed extra support. The Charge Nurse responsible for client liaison was absolutely fantastic and was able to arrange a place for my mother in less than 24 hours. We were able to go through all of her medical history over the phone and the Charge Nurse quickly assessed the level of support and care she needed to have in place for her stay. Many thanks to the whole team!

Cramond Residence provides a very high standard of care to residents, in luxurious and attractive surroundings. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, for residents and visitors alike, and my father and stepmother are enjoying their new home since moving in a year ago. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed,
the meals first-class, and there are a variety of stimulating and fun activities available.
The staff is excellent - everyone so attentive and caring, and cheerful. They go out of their way to please and to make life as easy and comfortable as possible for my father and stepmother - no request is too much trouble.
For family members living thousands of miles away, it is very helpful and reassuring to be able to follow daily care reports using the app.
We are so thankful that our parents are in such good hands.

My husband and I were in separate rooms opposite, roughly in a passage. He has Alzheimer's. I have mobility problems. We had had a similar week in early July. I was exhausted. I needed nursing attention for a leg injury (8 weeks ago, currently having a district nurse). He needed tablets plus an Alzheimer's
patch. I found all the staff very kind and understanding, particularly considering the psychological problems I am having in view of my situation. I was extremely low and their attention helped me to cope with my difficulties. I do not prefer to "recommend" care as it depends so much on the ability to pay for that care.

My father moved into Cramond Residence 6 months ago with dementia. This was a difficult transition for the family as he had always stated he would never leave his home.
He settled in quickly and this was down to the magnificent staff who are very caring and trustworthy. Dad is extremely fond of all
the staff and he has been referring to Cramond as his home.
The rooms are perfect and he thoroughly enjoys his meals.

When our parents could no longer stay at home on their own (even with support services) it was vitally important that we find somewhere we knew would be a 'home from home' with the care and infrastructure that they would be comfortable with. We were lucky enough to find the Cramond Residence while it
was still under development but the aspirations of the Residence gave us confidence and our parents moved there in October 2018. This move has been made as easy as possible and our parents have their personal effects to create a homely feel. The care and attention of the staff is paramount and without exception, everyone is caring, attentive and has a genuine interest in maintaining the highest of standards for our parents and for us. We are able to check on their progress remotely and are always contacted if there is a change. This gives us peace of mind knowing our parents are happy, have social stimulation with staff and other residents and means a great deal. A visit is strongly recommended.

This was the second time my husband spent a week's respite in Cramond Residence. As on the previous visit he was very well looked after and enjoyed the experience.
It helped that on both occasions he was given the same room. The care staff were all most helpful and the room he had was so well appointed
with every mod con.
There had been a query about medication but that was resolved by phoning our own doctor. The visitors were treated to the same level of courtesy as residents.

Cramond Residence oozes luxury and attention to detail and the staff are simply out of this world and are bright and courteous. From the moment you walk through the door, the atmosphere is relaxed, warm and friendly and my siblings and I are extremely grateful for the wonderful attention our parents
receive. Nothing is too much trouble. Meals are carefully prepared and presented (with wine if desired), and home baking is hard to resist! Meals can be taken in one of two dining rooms, or in their rooms if required. Our parents have their own landline so we don't have to go through the switchboard to talk to them. We are able to access their care files online and can see what they've eaten, what sort of night they've had and what activities they've been up to; an invaluable facility for relatives abroad. The activities are varied and interesting and they've been to Cramond Kirk on two occasions. The garden, once it has had time to mature, will be a wonderful place to relax in the sunshine.
