The service Speedwell Court provides is quite marvellous I have absolutely no complaints at all. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and caring. I am delighted with every aspect of the care my husband gets.

Having had experience dealing with several care homes over the years, Speedwell Court is outstanding in all aspects and by far the best home I have dealt with. I can't fault the level of care my father received during his stay. The staff are excellent, take a personal interest in the welfare of the
residents and kept me notified straight away of any issues that occurred.
Although his stay was only short-term, I would have no concerns if he had to return full-time.

On May 24th my cousin, who suffers from extreme anxiety received a hip replacement.
Speedwell Court provided the respite which was booked for two weeks initially.
My cousin is very difficult and the carers dealt with her extremely professionally even though she attacked two of them when they tried
to get her into the shower.
As my cousin failed to recover from her operation within two weeks, we needed to extend her stay at Speedwell for a further two weeks. This was done instantly and efficiently without any problem at all.
Everyone at Speedwell was very cheerful and friendly. The care home is beautifully furnished and clean and reminded me very much of a fine hotel.
I would highly recommend Speedwell Court to anyone looking for a top of the range care home with first class care.

The Speedwell Court facilitiy is superb. The premises are more like a comfortable hotel than a residential home. My sister is the happiest we have seen her for some time. The carers are clearly happy and are gentle and considerate. It is a relief that my sister is safe, appropriately and professionally
cared for. I cannot praise Speedwell Court enough. I would recommend Speedwell Court for anyone with dementia needs.

All management and staff are always attentive to residents and family members, making everyone feel at home. The home provides a lot of entertainment and events for residents and families to attend, and a lot of effort is put into arranging events. The home is always very clean and cleaners obviously
do an excellent continuing service. Care staff deal with any problems if they occur i.e locating lost items of clothing, reassuring anxious residents, also providing some reassurance to families. Respect, care and privacy is given to everyone. Excellent home and care, everything you want for your loved one. Would be better if they had a larger facility/room area for social events as can be very tight on space.

Having a look around the care home, it looks very good. If it comes to it, we would very likely consider using it. At the moment we go for dementia meetings and lunch once a month, which are very good and and helpful for meeting people and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

This home is efficiently run with pleasant and approachable staff who are very helpful. It is well-kept and extremely clean. It has a viable kitchen garden with rare breed chickens for interest within a large and relaxing garden. I have been given a conducted tour of the home which is very well facilitated.
Community lunches have been sponsored which along with community singing for residents and visiting dementia people is of great support. It allows the exchange of views and experiences. This is associated with a certain organisation. All of this gives huge relief to carers and relatives suffering alike.

I recently attended a Valentine's lunch with my father. A huge amount of effort and care had been expended to provide a delicious lunch in attractive surroundings. I would be hesitant to take my father out from Speedwell Court, as he is very confused these days, so it was lovely to be able to go and
share a special meal with him.
The staff are always ready to go the extra mile to make their resident's lives as pleasant as possible.

Finding a suitable care home for someone you love can be a very difficult experience as it’s a hugely important decision to make. Having visited very many, I knew immediately that Speedwell Court was the one. Warm, cosy, bright and cheerful and most importantly, clean, I knew my Mum would approve. The
staff were sympathetic and helpful and in general, very nice individuals. On arrival in the foyer I was often met with the sound of happy residents singing along to some old favourite tunes and the activity coordinators were dedicated to providing a happy day for all. The large garden area was easily accessible and nicely maintained with chickens roaming the grounds which gave it a homely touch. The pretty cafe beside the garden area offered tea and coffee for all.
The sensitivity and care shown by staff at the end of my Mum’s life was exemplary. They treated Mum and my family with the greatest of respect and allowed us the privacy we needed at such a sad time for which I am truly grateful.

Mum moved into Speedwell Court in April, after being given a terminal diagnosis. She was a little reticent at first and wanted to go home but the staff at Speedwell persevered with her and she came round in the end. Her illness has progressed very fast but all the staff have been brilliant. They keep
me up to date with how things are going with her and how her medication changes to deal with her pain. They treat my mum with such dignity and make her so comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble. Her room is lovely, very light, modern and airy. The facilities are very good, everywhere is kept clean and you don’t get the feeling that you are in a care home at all, more like a hotel. I would not hesitate in recommending Speedwell Court.

My husband has been a resident at Abbeyfield Speedwell for the past eight months and during this time his care has been excellent. The day staff are exemplary and treat my husband with care, respect and always with kindness and patience.
I could ask no more from them they make what is a very sad time

Overall Mum had a good experience. She took part in the activities including art, exercise, and board games. She enjoyed walking around the garden. She walked to the dining room every day for meals. She had regular baths during the week. Mum had company as well from other residents and family visitors.
However,
she would have liked the toilet in her room to have been mended sooner as it was not working properly for her entire stay.

My experience has been very enjoyable. The staff are extremely helpful and the home very clean and tidy. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is perfect. My grandchildren loved seeing the chickens in the garden. Newspapers most appreciated. My friends came a week too soon and thought they'd come to the
wrong home, having then visited the other local nursing homes, they were both relaxed and delighted that I'm at Speedwell as so much better than the other homes they previously visited.

We have researched/visited many care homes over the years looking for somewhere for respite for my mother after various operations. The Customer Relations Manager at Speedwell Court/Abbeyfield was so helpful and professional that this time we chose Speedwell and I have not been disappointed. All of
the staff are excellent and are both professional and friendly and make both my mother's stay and my visits a pleasure. A special thanks to the Deputy Care Manager and another member of staff in particular who have helped with some special requests and a big thank you to the whole team. If Abbeyfield and the Speedwell team were in charge of adult care in the UK our adult care services would be transformed. Thank you!

After major surgery and spending almost a month in hospital in 2018, I saw first-hand the impact that care and food has on individuals. I realised food is a big part of peoples day when living within a residential setting and decided that I wanted to help make a difference to people during this time. That was when I made the change from commercial catering to care and I haven’t looked back since. I like caring for people and strive to provide food that residents look forward to and also enjoy getting to know them and interacting with them on a daily basis.


I relocated from Berkshire to Hampshire last year and was excited to be offered the role at Speedwell Court and join the amazing #AbbeyfieldSociety family.


My hobbies outside of work are fitness, enjoying all aspects of the outdoors and have a passion for photography which I share via my Instagram page.

My role at Speedwell Court is to make sure the building is all up together, properly maintained to a high standard and looking its best. I enjoy my role as I get to interact with the residents and keep their homes looking great. I like to stay active and healthy, this role definitely allows me to get my steps in!
