My mum just stayed for three weeks following a stroke and has now returned home (with carers). You have an incredibly kind, lovely, caring team. From the management team, carers and the team that keep the home cleaned and maintained. My mum was fairly independent but observing the staff they were so
kind to all the residents. The only thing my mum was not so keen on was the food and I understand there was a new food manager starting just before she left. Your team work very hard and are really lovely. Thank you.

We felt very welcome as a family and for Mum as a resident, when shown around and since she moved in. The place is immaculate, lovely activities are put on. Best of all the staff are so friendly and helpful. They always go above and beyond! We couldn't be happier that Mum lives at Handley House!

Every time I come into this home to visit, the staff are so friendly and the place is immaculate. I always say if I go into a home this is the one I would like to go into!

Dad has been at Handley House for 6 months now and we cannot praise the staff enough. He has settled in so well and is cared for to a standard that we could not provide ourselves. The pressure and stress that has been taken off myself and other family members means that now we can spend quality time
with dad, and no longer have to worry about his well being.
Although his dementia has advanced and he can no longer express himself as he once could, we can tell that he is happy in his surroundings. Visiting is a pleasure and we are always made to feel welcome. There is always a lovely family atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. Dad clearly loves his carers and this gives myself and family great peace of mind knowing that he is in lovely caring surroundings with people who care. Thank you to all the staff.

The manager, deputy manager and front of house person are wonderful caring people. They are efficient, friendly and open for questions any time.
My mother spent several weeks there on respite care. We were all devastated when we have to move her to a cheaper care home.

My stepmother spent three months at Handley House while waiting for a space at another Home within the group closer to her home. I couldn't fault the staff for the care and attention given to her during the time spent at Handley and would endorse all the positive reviews received, they are definitely
deserved. By the end of her stay my stepmother would only move on knowing she would be able to return, very high praise indeed!

My mum went to Handley House for respite care when I went on holiday as my dad was already a resident there. I have reviewed the actual home and facilities in my other review for my dad but wanted to say how lovely everyone was to my mum even though she was only there for a short period. All the staff,
carers, management really make your relative feel relaxed, welcome, and part of the home right from walking through the door. They go above and beyond to help them settle in and feel comfortable. You can take anything in to make them feel more at home. I went on holiday knowing that she was being well looked after and confident that all her medication and care needs would be seen to. I would have no hesitation to return to Handley House.

Staff are amazing and all absolutely lovely. Treat all the residents with such respect and care. The activities and trips they organise are through the roof. The rooms are facilities are outstanding. Honestly the nicest care home I've ever seen. It's more like a five star hotel.

Wonderful care. My mum is so much better for being at Handley House. the staff are wonderful, residents' are super well cared for, all our relatives. I highly recommend. Couldn't be happier with how my mum is cared for. This place is the epitome of a caring culture.

It is a real relief to have moved my mum to Handley House. I know that she is safe and cared for. She is making friends and enjoying the food (and wine!). I’m not one to write reviews, but I feel Handley House needs this shout out. From the reception to the cares, the manager to the chefs and cleaners to the entertainment team in my opinion all go above and beyond.
I was having real trouble finding a care home for father until I called Handley House,
and they made the process easy, which was so kind as I live in Southampton.
My father went to stay at Handley House for respite and was followed shortly after by my mother as they both have Alzheimer’s and then went on to be permanent residents. I have never heard them say a bad word about the care, food or establishment. Which was a welcome relief.
Unfortunately, my father now needs nursing care and Handley House have helped and advised with this process as well and the move was today for both of them.
I can’t thank them enough for the compassion and care they have given them and wish they could have stayed longer.
Still I know there will be two lucky people out there who will be able to take their rooms.

My mum was welcomed into Handley House at a most difficult time at the height of the pandemic and spent the last few months of her life there. Their staff were always attentive, respectful and most helpful. I am most grateful for the time they gave to make my mum's last few weeks as comfortable as possible.

We were here for the Queen's Jubilee Celebration, so well organised. Everyone involved did an excellent job and all those who attended seemed to really enjoy themselves. The organisation was superb, plus everything was cleared away and kept clean and tidy.

I have been impressed with the Team. Very approachable and caring. I have felt welcomed as a visitor. The activities are very good which my mother enjoys along with companionship. The meals are good and the tables set out very nicely so much care and thought given to make it an enjoyable experience.
Handley House is spacious and clean with choices of rooms to sit from the lounge to garden room, cinema, outdoor seating and garden. The staff are courteous and friendly respecting everyone as an individual. The recent Jubilee celebrations were outstanding and appreciated.

My mum initially came to Handley House for respite care which has now been extended whilst we wait for arrangements to be made for full-time residential care. I would really like her to stay here as she has settled very well. The home is very clean and always smells fresh. The staff have spoken to me
most days on the phone and are very kind, helpful and informative. The meals are varied and very good. The only reason I rated good for activities was because I haven't seen mum doing any activities yet.

As a wheelchair user, I am in Handley House whilst my husband is in hospital. Unfortunately, I have had Covid and have been confined to my room for 10-days, so haven't; had any activities. The staff and management are excellent, very kind and helpful. I have had problems contacting my husband's hospital,
and they have gone above and beyond kindness in getting me a phone on speaker. I find having my laptop in my room most useful. I miss having grab-handles, particularly in the bathroom, and find washing difficult.

I stayed at Handley House for two weeks after a hip replacement operation for respite care. All the staff were very caring, helpful and friendly. However, after my second day, Covid invaded the home, and all the various activities planned had to be cancelled. My room with ensuite was spacious, and I
was able to walk around the terraced paths in the garden with two sticks. I would recommend Handley House. Some of my scores would have been higher without Covid.

This care home has gone above and beyond to accommodate my father-in-law.
When my mother-in-law took a turn for the worse they helped with care and flexibility to ease our situation.
Where there were problems they offered solutions and we could not have been happier knowing our loved ones was getting
the best care he could.

Lisa joined Ideal Carehomes as Regional Director in 2018. She has worked in the care sector for 23 years, starting as a personal carer and working her way up to senior management. Lisa has worked at regional level for the past five years, supporting homes across Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and the Midlands, and before this she has a wealth of experience in managing residential and dementia care homes.


Lisa is passionate about care and enjoys supporting our Home Managers and staff teams to provide the very best care possible.
