Avon Valley opened in May 2019 and a warm welcome awaits for residents from across Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas. The home is situated in Kingswood, just off the A420 and close to the A4174 roundabout. Avon Valley offers a high standard of residential, dementia and respite care.

The home happily accommodates couples and companions who wish to remain together as they continue their care journey and make new memories side by side.

This care home gives my mum and our family everything we need and more. Mum is happy, content and alive, and we have a life back. It's expensive when self-funding, but worth every penny. The staff are unbelievable and are now part of our "extended" family. Care homes should use Avon Valley as a role
model and mentor. Everything is done with a smile and empathy. Truly very professional and friendly. Thank you 100%.

The home is very nice and appears to be spotless. All the staff I have had dealings with are polite and very caring, making you feel welcome, and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them.

The staff are very friendly and efficient, always easy to talk to; nothing is too much trouble. A wide variety of activities and facilities in a relaxed atmosphere, with lovely surroundings. My mother was very happy at this care home. The staff looked after her well, she always said, they were "second to none" The staff were very friendly, but at the same time professional and caring. Mum wanted for nothing whilst she was there.

Over the last six months and previously, I have found every aspect of Avon Valley's care and service to be excellent. From caring for my friends every need to the standard of the food, everything is of the highest standard. The facilities are exceptional and the behaviour of every member of staff (we
know) is above and beyond our expectations. All the staff are really helpful, polite and happy, and throughout the Covid-19 emergency, the information I received was timely and comprehensive. The additional activities they arranged during this period and the way they cared for my friend during the lockdown helped to maintain her morale and ensured she was always occupied and happy. The fact that Avon Valley remained free of the virus says everything about the quality of management, their organisation and staff training.

Avon Valley Care Home seems to have taken Covid 19 in its stride. All the staff have been excellent, very caring toward my mother-in-law and she is clearly happy and feels safe and cared for, which is so important as she has dementia. When we visit (which I was able to do this week) we can see the relationship
of trust and affection that has been built between her and individual staff members. I have particularly valued being able to see pictures via social media and it’s clear that the staff have been really proactive with regards to creating suitable activities.

Having not seen my mum for nearly 16 weeks it has been very difficult for all of our family to cope with the current Covid-19 situation.
Therefore I would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at Avon Valley who have provided the facility to Skype, take phones to residents and provide a delivery
service for us when dropping off clothes, food, etc.
Due to the marvellous work by the activity co-ordinators, care staff, cleaners, kitchen staff and keeping everybody entertained we are so glad to see on facebook the wonderful times they have had including VE Day, Flower day, sing a long and the odd party or two especially celebrating your 1st wonderful year, proving what a quality service you provide.
Your Team, the manager, is a credit to the Care Service and both you and your staff should be very proud of all your achievements not just over the last couple of months but also the last year.
Thank you for looking after our precious mum, you give us peace of mind every day.

Since dad went into Avon Valley I had complete confidence in him being happy and contented. Not only is the home itself of the highest quality but the staff are amazing and go far beyond what is expected of them to care for the residents and provide a happy environment. I cannot speak highly enough
of them. This has shown even more with their dedication during corona lockdown. They kept the resident's spirits up with constant activities. They all deserve medals and are all amazing.

My Father has only recently moved into the Care Home but we have found that all the staff have shown a great deal of commitment to ensuring that Dad settles in well.
The Home is very clean, beautifully presented with great attention to detail.
All the administration and support for families is excellent
and well structured.
It is great to see the commitment to the mental well being of the residents - as well as the physical health.
All in all, we cannot speak too highly of the Home - it has been a great weight off my Mother's mind to know Dad is happy and well cared for.

The staff at Avon Valley Care Home have been wonderful during this pandemic. I first visited the home in December and immediately felt that this was somewhere my relative would be well cared for. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the care my Mum has received has been outstanding in every
way. I particularly like the fact that there is a wide range of activities for the residents to take part in if they wish, so many wonderful ideas and it does really feel as though this is a proper home, not just a facility for old people. The food is delicious with a wide variety, and families are welcome to eat with their relative if they wish. The bedrooms are modern and beautifully furnished and everywhere is so clean – I enjoyed being able to sit in the reception area and have a cup of tea with my Mum. I have been very impressed with Avon Valley Care Home, they have provided wonderful care for my Mum as she becomes more frail and I would be very happy to recommend it to anyone.

Mum has now been resident for 6 months. The general running day to day is excellent. The staff are very professional and empathetic to mum's needs. Dad went into Avon Valley on the first of October, originally for respite so he, my brother and myself could see how he got on because of his struggles after Mum passed away in 2017 but has lived there ever since. Dad is 97 and the care he receives is second to none. All the staff and carers are always
there to look after him and everyone is so friendly and helpful and keep us informed of everything. He is not the best mixer but is now mixing with people more. The staff are always there to give him a consoling cuddle when he needs one and can't do enough for him. You always get a friendly welcome when you get there to sign in. There is a lovely piano lounge where you can go for a coffee plus other rooms and also a nice garden which as yet Dad has not been out to because of the time of year. There are also activities going on morning and afternoon plus trips out. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of looking for expert care for a relative to have a look at Avon Valley. Thank you to all at Avon Valley.

I was very apprehensive about my first experience of residential care. I need not have worried about it, what a friendly place. I was introduced to others, so I would not feel alone. The staff sat with me, and I was able to make friends quickly. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. No one said
"no". Good care, nice food, lovely surroundings and I didn't want to leave. My stay gave me the boost to get over hospital care and return to my home. Thank you to everyone.

My mother-in-law was only a resident at Avon Valley for 4 months before she sadly passed away from a stroke. She was the happiest she had been in years and loved being looked after by the fantastic people at Avon Valley.

My mother in law has been very happy here since the day she arrived. The staff, all of the staff, have made her feel very comfortable and really brought her out of herself, encouraging her to mix with other residents and join in activities, no mean feat! She is full of praise for Avon Valley and this

My Mum has been a resident at Avon Valley now for 3 months and from the outset, she has been extremely happy. All the staff are amazing, friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble.

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2019

Hello, my name is Alyson, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Avon Valley.


Joining and commissioning Avon Valley Care Home in 2019 was a dream come true. I have successful developed my staff into good ways of practice and built a team that are proud and respectful of what they do. My passion for this home comes not only from my 40 years’ experience within the healthcare sector but also from my own personal life. I’ve had a very personal experience of a loved one needing dementia care, and I understand the emotional turmoil and difficulty in letting go or trusting someone else to care for that person.


Prior to becoming a Home Manager, my previous roles within the sector have been Residential Service Officer, Care Assistant, Nurse Auxiliary and Deputy Manager. I have also developed my skills by achieving qualifications such as NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4, and also ILM.


Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. Seeing my residents smile each day brings the motivation to perform my role at the highest level.


I would best describe myself as someone who is friendly and approachable. If you would ever need assistance with anything, I will always be on hand to help. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, gardening and I can’t wait to be able to travel once restrictions are eased.
