Avon Valley opened in May 2019 and a warm welcome awaits for residents from across Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas. The home is situated in Kingswood, just off the A420 and close to the A4174 roundabout. Avon Valley offers a high standard of residential, dementia and respite care.

The home happily accommodates couples and companions who wish to remain together as they continue their care journey and make new memories side by side.

With high-quality en-suite accommodation, beautiful lounge, dining rooms, and communal areas, there is plenty of room to enjoy leisure activities delivered through the home's social calendar.

My mum has Alzheimers and has been here 2 months. This is a beautiful home with caring, attentive staff, from management to housekeeping, we have had a warm welcome. The food is fresh and beautifully presented. The wellbeing staff are encouraging and all the residents join in with a variety of daily
activities. While visiting, which is encouraged and can be any time, we are offered refreshments and can enjoy these with my mum in a variety of sitting areas both inside and out as the balconies have lovely views and the garden is lovely. The staff and residents have welcomed my mum into what is her new extended family, the time was right and everyone deserves a home like this.

We struggled for a long time to find a suitable care home that could take both Mum (dementia) and Dad (Parkinson's). Avon Valley opened in May 19 and we enquired about places, initially for Dad and eventually for Mum, that they might be together and cared for. The home is new, hence all the excellent
gradings, built and run to a very high standard. The setup from environment, to staff, to food, facilities and activities, all looks to be excellent.

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2019

Hello, my name is Alyson, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Avon Valley.


Joining and commissioning Avon Valley Care Home in 2019 was a dream come true. I have successful developed my staff into good ways of practice and built a team that are proud and respectful of what they do. My passion for this home comes not only from my 40 years’ experience within the healthcare sector but also from my own personal life. I’ve had a very personal experience of a loved one needing dementia care, and I understand the emotional turmoil and difficulty in letting go or trusting someone else to care for that person.


Prior to becoming a Home Manager, my previous roles within the sector have been Residential Service Officer, Care Assistant, Nurse Auxiliary and Deputy Manager. I have also developed my skills by achieving qualifications such as NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4, and also ILM.


Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. Seeing my residents smile each day brings the motivation to perform my role at the highest level.


I would best describe myself as someone who is friendly and approachable. If you would ever need assistance with anything, I will always be on hand to help. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, gardening and I can’t wait to be able to travel once restrictions are eased.
