My name is Tendai Matore-Konzvo and I am the General Manager at Fernleigh Court. Previously, I was the Clinical Deputy Manager and prior, worked as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse and Registered General Nurse for a combined 16 years.
Fernleigh Court is a warm and friendly home where everyone is made to feel loved, safe and comfortable which we extended to resident’s friends and families. All staff give care that is bespoke to each resident. Activities of daily living, likes and preferences are tailored around individual needs.
As General Manager of our home, I strive to do the best for residents, their families/friends and my dedicated colleagues. I aim to make Fernleigh Court a home from home, so our residents are stimulated, and all their healthcare needs are met by giving a high standard of care whilst staying with us.

I am a passionate and positive chef who beams pride and professionalism in all I do.
I have been a Head Chef for 25 years and am lucky enough to have worked in kitchens across the world including Sydney, Australia and Phuket, Thailand. I have cooked for several high-profile celebrities including Sir Elton John and Princess Diana.
My versatility has been an asset throughout my career and I have adapted to different environments having worked in hotels, gastropubs, high-end restaurants and now Fernleigh Court. I even spent 6 months cooking at Yarlswood Detention Centre!
I have mentored students from various local colleges and won a national purple umbrella award with my last apprentice. I also earned and retained a rosette for 3 years whilst working at a busy local hotel where I trained ‘Masterchef - The Professionals’ finalist, Louisa Ellis straight from catering college.
These rewards are nothing in comparison to the feeling I get from delivering high-quality, delicious dishes to the residents of Fernleigh Court, Kempston and seeing their smiling faces when they enjoyed my food!
Above all, I am fanatical about cooking and want everyone to enjoy whatever dishes my team and I create!

My name is Michelle and I have been a receptionist here at Fernleigh Court since we opened in November 2019.
Before coming here, I used to volunteer at Bedford Central Club doing Bingo and organising weekly bands to come sing I’m a people person so I love it when my Bistro area is full of residents enjoying themselves with the various activities we have going on whilst enjoying our delicious cakes. I also enjoy puzzles and crosswords so you will often find me helping residents with their jigsaws.
My hobbies include reading (thank you Kindle Unlimited), eating Yorkshire pudding, walking my husky and going away in my caravan and I’m lucky enough to have visited some amazing places which have been recommended by some of our residents who love telling me of their adventures. I love star gazing with my Astrophotography mad son and I am often found at 3 am outside in the garden with a blanket!
I absolutely love my job here at Fernleigh Court and I am lucky enough to work with such amazing & caring people and consider myself very lucky to be working here.
