Welcome to Figbury Lodge. At Figbury Lodge the team aim to run a service that delivers the type of care that they would want for their own loved ones.

The service manager, team leaders, administrators, support workers, domestics, cooks, activities champions and maintenance operatives ensure that they have considered all angles of making Figbury Lodge as much of a home as possible.

Figbury Lodge, in Canford Heath, will provide 50 care and 10 nursing beds, alongside 20 intermediate beds – a bridge between hospital and home – 10 of which will also be nursing.

Four accommodation wings incorporating various communal areas.

- 80 beds with private bathroom facilities.
- A multi-purpose room for activities and events.
- Separate dining rooms, lounges and quiet spaces.
- Large fully landscaped courtyard garden with outdoor seating and a seaside themed garden area
- Pitch and putt, a hobby shed and raised planting beds.
- a community hub and facilities which will be accessible to members of the wider community.
- A hairdressing salon and shop.
- A giant chessboard.

The home will offer enhanced support and facilities to Poole residents, including rehabilitation with clients accepted on a referral basis by the NHS and the Council.

My mum transferred to Figbury Lodge from another care home in June 2022. On her arrival, the staff were very helpful, kind and considerate to her. Since then they have looked after her very well. It took my mum a very long time to get used to the different staff, but now she seems settled. All staff
on her unit work extremely hard and seem to work well as a team.

My mother is 91, has severe Alzheimer’s and from many years of anorexic behaviour and is a frail, old lady. Her condition had deteriorated to such an extent that my wife and I could no longer safely care for her. Nobody ever wants to have a parent moved into care, so it was with a heavy heart when she
moved into Figbury Lodge.


We should not have worried. In fact, we should have been delighted, as my mother now has constant care and companionship. Despite not eating for us, for her nurse, or for the dietitians in Poole Hospital, thanks to the wonderful Carers in Figbury Lodge she has gained weight. It would be nice to refer to the staff as being like family, but by their constant care of my mother, they are indeed better than family. We could not have done for my mother what the wonderful staff have done. My wife and I visit frequently, and all the staff are so friendly. My mother is not just a number. She is known by name. They take the time to update us.

My mother has been living at Figbury Lodge for two months. Due to Covid, cannot be moved and awaiting a vacancy in a home nearer to the family. Mum is happy at Figbury. The staff are caring, lovely and have a sense of humour like my mum. Very clean, however very black (no pictures or shelves in the
rooms. No complaints. The staff are friendly and helpful when I ring in. Working with masks all day, so difficult, they are so kind.

As I was in Figbury Lodge during the lockdown, there weren't any activities. I did not pay for my stay so cannot comment on value for money. I was well looked after and am very grateful. The Occupational Therapists were excellent.

On behalf of my Mother who resided at Figbury Lodge she and I had no complaints about the excellent care she received. I was able to telephone regularly and unless at a time care was being given, I could always have a chat with mum on the phone. Very friendly and helpful staff who made you feel at home
when I visited. I am extremely grateful to the care Figbury Lodge staff gave to mum, thank you all.

My mother moved into the care home last year due to a deterioration meaning she needed more round the clock care.
Ever since she has moved in the staff of Figbury Lodge have bent over backwards to provide support for her. She is cared for with a lovely personal touch that I see each time we have a
video call with her.
Figbury Lodge have been great at helping us to connect in a meaningful way with my mum during the pandemic offering us video calls each week. As there are four daughters it means we can all talk to her and see her on the call which we appreciate so very much.
The distance and lack of in person contact has been hard but Figbury Lodge and their staff's caring attention has made this period a little easier! I look forward to being able to thank all the staff in person one day!

My father was admitted following a fall at home. He appreciated the support in regarding his independence and valued how the staff treated him (with respect). For my part, I was in regular contact with the home, and they made every effort to keep me informed, despite the huge pressure the Covid-19 crisis
placed on them. The level of care and compassion given was excellent.

A really lovely home. Mum settled in well and we're delighted that she is so well cared for. Without exception, all the staff we've encountered have been professional, welcoming, cheerful, polite and caring to Mum but also to Dad and us (daughters), and the grandchildren too. Facilities are great, lovely
ensuite rooms, everywhere is really fresh and clean. Food is excellent, with individuals' likes/dislikes and changing dietary needs accommodated. Afternoon tea and cake is a big hit. Lovely range of activities available which are interesting and stimulating. Nice community links too (pre-Covid of course). Current Covid restrictions have been a massive challenge but one the home has handled so well. Most importantly, they've kept everyone safe. Lack of visitors has put a huge strain on the staff and they have done everything practically feasible to facilitate contact between residents and their loved ones. Thank you, well done to you all, you're doing a great job in difficult times.

While the staff seem efficient and the building is very pleasant unfortunately the upper management is not emphatic at all. During covid, no window or car park visits allowed. Appeals to the area manager resulted in very rude responses to family members.
In a caring profession, its outrageous loved
ones are denied contact in a safe environment when other care homes are going out of their way to help residents.
Would not send anyone to live in this establishment.
They failed in recent official care homes checks as not meeting standards. A disgrace.

My dad has been with you since October 2019, and he has settled in very well. He always seems very happy when I visit, and the staff are very friendly, kind and willing to help when there is a problem. The home is very tidy and clean. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. My dad loves the activities
they do and been out in the garden when the weather is nice as they have a big outdoor area.

Our experience is very good, home is clean, the staff are all lovely and very friendly and will help with anything we ask for. Food is nice, plenty of tea, coffee, fruit juice for visitors and residents all times of the day.

My husband seemed to settle very quickly. Staff are always busy. Bedroom and wet floor bathroom like being in a hotel! As in past experience elsewhere, the laundry system could be improved. My husbands always seem to lose clothes.
