Northcare Suites Care Home is a purpose-built luxury 76-bed care home in Edinburgh. The skilled and experienced team provide 24 hour nursing care which is tailored to each individual's unique support needs and wishes.

Each of the 76 generously appointed bedroom suites comes with hospitality and turn down services, an optional newspaper and passive alarm sensors. They are finished to the highest standards and include large en-suites, a small double bed, telephone facility, call bell, high speed wireless internet connectivity and Sky TV connection points.

The interiors exude elegance- they are fresh, spacious and bathed in natural light. Communal areas include lounge and dining rooms, a Castle View Brasserie with access to the rooftop balcony, a Private Dining Room, a Residents-only hair and beauty salon and a fully equipped cinema theatre.
Externally, Northcare Suites offers residents beautiful outdoor space to enjoy; from relaxing on the outdoor terrace, to using the walking circuit and putting green, to pottering around in the greenhouse.

There is a busy programme of activities and entertainment to choose from including flower arranging, yoga and language classes. Guests are welcomed and can enjoy a complementary refreshments including fresh home baking or meal for special events with their loved one.

I find the nursing staff and carers very helpful and attentive, cleaning staff do a great job as her room and hallways are always clean.
The reception staff is also cheerful and care home manager friendly and always makes time to let on and inform me of any developments that are taking place.
There
is a fabulous cafe with spectacular views you can enjoy and the staff are always very friendly and helpful.

We were welcomed very warmly indeed and my mother-in-law received excellent care during her fortnight of respite. It was also a very pleasant environment for visiting family members, who enjoyed sharing coffees and teas with her in the gorgeous bistro with its spectacular city views. Our overall experience
was stress-free, all the staff were very friendly and everything was made as easy and accommodating as possible for us all.

Very happy to give a positive review of Northcare. All staff are caring, friendly and helpful. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the rooms are modern and fresh. There is plenty of choice at mealtimes and different activities throughout the day. The brasserie on the top floor serving tea and coffee
to visitors is a lovely touch, it makes me feel very welcome. Northcare is really lovely, and my dad is happy here. I'm so glad we found it.

Can't say enough good things about this care home. Staff all brilliant and friendly. Mum (Alzheimer's) has been in nearly 3 months now and she is happy and contented. Well looked after. Family are all very happy with the way things are going.

I am delighted with the care Mum is receiving at Northcare Suites. The staff are friendly and engage well with her and treat her with the dignity and respect she deserves, as well as having a laugh with her at times, which she enjoys.
All of her personal care/medical needs are attended to very well.
She has a daily assisted shower and the nursing team keep me updated on any issues as they arise, or changes in her medication.
There is a programme of daily activities and lunch/dinner in the dining room which allows residents to socialise and mix with one another which suits mum as she gets anxious when she is on her own. Mum particularly enjoys the musical entertainment which is provided as she loves a sing along.
Mum has a big family and lots of friends who come to visit her regularly and are also made to feel welcome.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Northcare Suites to others looking for a care facility for their loved ones.

Northcare Suites, Edinburgh is simply wonderful. The ambience is lovely from the minute you walk through the door. Staff are knowledgeable, respectful and so kind. My mother's room has amazing views over the city and is kept clean and tidy. I'm kept updated about her health and have regular six monthly
reviews. Catering is fabulous and they really look after their visitors too with the Brasserie on the top floor being a favourite place to visit with Mum. There are plenty of activities should clients wish to participate and so in short, I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

This is a 5-star care home. Management continuity has been good, staff continuity is good although at times they appear to be short-staffed. Quality of care is good and facilities are excellent. Individual rooms are spacious, light and comfortable. There is a full programme of activities and an excellent
onsite cafe for visitors to take residents to.

The care given to my stepmother is first class and I am always told when there has been a deterioration in her health. The staff and management act quickly when they think external medical advice is required.

My father was placed in Northcare as he was bedblocking in ERI. Due to his needs it was very evident that Social Care was unable to meet them. After long discussions he made the decision to see if he could remain in Northcare, which he did. The care and attention he received and myself until his death
last year was exceptional, could not have asked for any more. As I was so impressed I moved my mother from her care home to currently is. The attention to detail is throughout the staff. This is starting with the Manager. The training given and recieved is exceptional. The choice, respect and dignity shown and given is perfect. The GPs, nurses call and give updates if there has been any or no change and are very receptive to suggestions in how to treat a longstanding condition. I am looking forward to my old age as I will be putting my name down on the waiting list along with my cousins.

Only been in since January to date so early but it's good. Low turnover of staff is also good, facilities are great. Cafe is an excellent idea, service and offering and open pretty much all the time which is great. Good it offers facilities such as cinema, nails, hair etc.

Northcare Suites is more like a hotel than a nursing home, with lovely, homely furniture. The staff are extremely caring, kind and accommodating and will go out of their way to help. Lots of smiles too. They know the residents well and treat them with dignity. It is a joy to see my mother looking happy.
It is reassuring for my sister and me to know that she is safe and is checked regularly through the night. The nurses are very good at communicating if there are any issues and will arrange doctor and physiotherapy appointments, as needed. The visitors are also very well looked after and are provided with tea and cakes. I am really delighted that my mother is receiving tender loving care in such a luxurious place. Added bonuses are the cinema, brasserie and cocktail bar, which the relatives can use too. There is an on-site hairdresser and garden to walk around at the back. We had a delicious meal in the private dining room just before Christmas.

Fantastic care home. All staff are excellent, caring and very professional. I could not hope for better care than my mother receives from everyone. My mother is at Northcare Suites and has been since October 2023. We are so happy with the home. The staff are incredible and I cannot fault them. They look after my mother so well and are always helpful and knowledgeable about what is going on with my mother. There are plenty of activities.
My mother
enjoys the food and when we visit we are also looked after very well with coffee and cakes. The facilities are lovely. My mother's room is always clean and has a hairdresser, cinema, and lovely meeting rooms.
I would recommend Northcare Suites to anyone looking for a luxurious care home.

Northcare Suites on Telford Road; what an absolutely amazing care home. From the minute I arrive at reception, I am greeted with warmth and respect. Care staff are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. They show care, kindness and extensive knowledge about my aunt and her needs. My aunt is extremely
well cared for, any health issues she has are treated timely and with dignity. I am always kept updated about her needs and how they are being met. I have experienced first-hand the care and support experienced by my aunt, she had an infection and was being closely monitored by nursing staff. My aunt and I felt completely reassured and supported. My aunt consistently praises the care she receives and is the happiest and healthiest I have seen her for years. Cleanliness is outstanding throughout the whole of the care home. The catering is fabulous and my aunt enjoys all her meals. The whole team from reception to kitchen, cleaning, care and nursing staff are exceptional. Thank you.

Debbie Crawford

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2019

Debbie has over 20 years of experience in the care sector, beginning her journey as a home care assistant. Her deep passion for elderly care inspired her to pursue further education, leading to the completion of her Nursing degree in 2015.


Since qualifying, Debbie has dedicated her career to working in care homes, driven by a commitment to ensuring that residents are supported in living well and enjoying a high quality of life.


In 2019, Debbie joined Northcare Suites as a Clinical Lead Nurse. She was drawn to Northcare’s ethos of nurturing both mind and body through engaging activities, along with its strong focus on prioritising the well-being of its clients. In 2020, Debbie progressed to the role of Deputy Manager and was later promoted to Manager of Northcare Suites.

Since qualifying, driven by a passion for caring for the elderly, particularly those living with dementia, Kevin has dedicated his career to working in care homes, leveraging his knowledge and experience to hold various roles, including Charge Nurse and Deputy Manager.


In January 2018, Kevin joined the Northcare team as a Clinical Lead and transitioned to the role of Deputy Manager at Northcare Suites in April 2023. This position has provided Kevin with opportunities to continue learning and developing new skills while focusing on supporting the team to deliver exceptional person-centred care.

Karen leads a dedicated team of three staff in creating nutritionally balanced meals for 76 clients. She ensures that individual dietary needs are met, maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality, personalised nutrition.


Karen’s role extends beyond daily meal preparation to organising special events for clients and their families. These include private dining experiences, summer barbecues, and chef-led initiatives such as ‘Making with Chef’, themed evenings showcasing global cuisines, and monthly cheese and wine afternoons. Karen also actively engages clients through focus groups to shape future menu offerings.


Before joining Northcare, Karen served as Head Chef at Edinburgh's independent Mary Erskine Girls School for three years, during which she earned the prestigious title of ‘School Chef of the Year’ for Scotland.
For fifteen years prior, she held the role of Head Chef at John Lewis Edinburgh, managing a brigade of 26 chefs.


With 40 years of culinary experience, Karen is a highly skilled and passionate chef dedicated to excellence in every aspect of her craft.

With over 25 years of experience in hairdressing and a passion for working with senior clients, Amanda brings exceptional skills and a compassionate touch to every appointment.


At just 16, Amanda began her career with Kenneth Kim in the Edinburgh Salon, where she completed her junior training and earned her SVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing. She then joined the prestigious global hairdressing brand, Regis, steadily advancing from Stylist to Salon Area Manager.


Throughout her career, Amanda has undertaken some of the industry's most esteemed educational programmes, including the highly regarded Wella Professionals Master Colour Expert Programme, one of the top accolades in the field of hair colour.
