We appreciate your feedback. Please be reassured that Herne Place is always fully staffed with auxiliary members of the team helping to create a homely atmosphere for each and every resident. The quality of these jobs is audited by our Senior Management, Operational Trainers and Quality Assurance Managers, who visit monthly, as well as unannounced for an unbiased review of what we provide in the home. This is on top of Home Management's daily, weekly and monthly audits. I would like to discuss this further so we can address any specific issues you may have seen during one of your visits. I joined Barchester HealthCare, as I was looking to use my life skills to enhance both the lives of residents and team members, I liked the values and description of Sutton Valance and Barchester as a care provider.
I really enjoy the daily challenges, team recruitment and always pushing and exceeding performance where I can. I also enjoy adding value, enhancing care and giving elders life purpose to enable them to engage in a fulfilled life.
I am passionate about delivering the levels and standards of care that I would expect for my own parents who are sadly no longer with us. If I had known about Barchester when my own parents required care, my family would have not experienced such pain and anxiety, this is why I chose Barchester to ensure that other families do not, where possible, have to endure what I had experienced in the past.
I have over 20 years of experience in the NHS, Private and Public businesses and have worked in the care sector with children, young adults, adults with acquired brain injury and the last 10 years in elderly care.
I have recently studied open university courses to ensure decisions made at home reflected best practices providing a safe community.
Making a difference in people's lives throughout my career has been my biggest achievement. I strive to continually develop to ensure that the individuals I care for, experience the very best care and life enrichment in later life.

My role is to support and work with the General Manager. I have been employed by Barchester for 9 years and recently moved from another Barchester Home to become the Deputy Manager at Herne Place. I have worked in the care sector for many years working my way through various roles and gaining a wide range of knowledge. I genuinely care about the residents in the home. My aim is to ensure expected outcomes are met in the most positive ways, I have built good relationships with Residents, families, staff and other healthcare professionals ensuring our residents receive a high standard of care.

Hi My name is Kelly Aves
I am South London born and moved to Herne Bay in 2009 to be closer to my parents.
I joined Herne Place Care Home as the Home Administrator in May 2023 after working within the NHS for 16 + years, as a Practice manager/Finance Manager for Saddleton Road & Seasalter Surgery, then as the Estates Manager for Whitstable Medical Practice when the two practices merged in 2018.
I have done mixed martial arts since I was 3, studying Karate, Kick Boxing & Muay Thai. I enjoy a variety of different activities such as dance, cooking and arts & crafts with my children.
My role within Herne Place is a varied one as I deal with all home administration, payroll and a wide range of other duties, I support all teams within the home and not one day is the same. My role brings me close to my community and I love my day-to-day interaction with every single resident within the home.

Job Title: Bank Administrative Assistant

I joined Barchester in September 2023 after 30 years working in London, 27 of which were for an International Bank.
My role as a Receptionist/Administration Assistant at Herne Place brings something new every single day and I thoroughly enjoy the variety. From greeting our visitors, to getting acquainted with our lovely residents and their families, to helping out with any number of enquiries; an excellent standard of customer service, plus a combination of professional and sincerely dedicated care are essential skills.
I am responsible for a broad range of admin tasks but it is most definitely the people I have the pleasure to engage with that are first and foremost the most important and rewarding aspect of what I do. There is a genuinely homely feeling here which I am delighted to be a part of.

Hi, I'm Howard, I am the head of maintenance here at Herne Place.
I have previously worked as an engineer installing and repairing fire and security alarms, CCTV and nurse call systems.
I also have 15 years of experience in the adult social care industry, where I have a level 5 in leadership and management in health and social care.
My experience and knowledge have led me to work at Barchester Healthcare where I enjoy getting to know the residents while ensuring they live in a happy and safe home.

I have worked in care for five years and I find it very rewarding. I have worked my way up from Healthcare Assistant to Community Lead at Herne Place.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching a good film, or box set or reading.
As a Community Lead, I have a wide range of tasks throughout the day from supporting and overseeing the carers; as well as ensuring residents’ dignity and independence are maintained at all times. This also includes clinical responsibilities such as managing medications and speaking to healthcare professionals.
I am very passionate about my job, maintaining our residents’ well-being. The role requires me to be a hands-on professional and make certain that person-centred care is delivered.

I was born and raised in Canterbury. I started my career in Care with Age UK in Faversham.
I then moved to Herne Bay in 2018 and started my career with Barchester Herne Place in July 2021 as a Healthcare Assistant. I chose Barchester Healthcare as a reputable employer that provided training and opportunities that would develop and increase my skills and ability to provide the best care possible to our residents.

Before moving to Kent from London I worked in Billingsgate fish market as office manager. In 1998 I moved to Kent and cared for my father-in-law who was living with vascular dementia. After he passed i realised that I wanted to continue in care first as a community healthcare assistant then in residential homes where i achieved NVQ's levels 2, 3 and lastly level 5 leadership for health and social care I joined Barchester Healthcare in 2022 as a senior carer then progressed to community lead . No two days are the same and I love the work I do which is caring and giving my best for those in our care. When I'm not in the home I enjoy staying in my caravan and having my family around me.
