My mother and father had respite care in St Lauras Care Home. The care and attention they received was very good. I expected very good care. What impressed me about St Lauras was the staff's attitude. They were happy while working, not rushed, helping their clients as much time as it took. The staff
were confident in their roles, not looking over their shoulders for the boss. They did not pretend to be busy, when not busy they would chat and laugh with the clients. As a visitor, I was very welcomed and staff made time to talk to me as well. Thank you.

I'm extremely pleased with the service provided by St Laura's Care Home.


We moved our mother to St Laura's as we didn't feel she was being cared for adequately in the previous care home.


What a contrast, St Laura's is a lovely building in a beautiful location, the staff are all professional and

polite.


My mother is being looked after with kindness and care so as a family we are no longer worrying about her welfare.

I approached Mum going into a care home with trepidation as I had promised her that I would always look after her and that she would never go into a home. Slowly, realising over several years that I could no longer give Mum the 100% care that she needed as someone suffering from Dementia, I approached
St Lauras, which from the reviews seemed to be a really good care home, and was not disappointed as all the staff are really professional, warm and approachable. Mum is really settled and happy now, showing me a lovely smile every time I visit her and her lovely colourful nails that get varnished often. Mum has made a small group of friends that she spends time with for breakfast, afternoon tea and doing activities together, such as sherry club and seated exercise classes. The best decision I ever made, all be that it was a reluctant one, Mum looks so healthy, happy and has plenty of activities around her to occupy her mind. Well done to you all at St Lauras; you really are the best.

We thought long and hard about putting Mum into care and tried respite care initially. After just two weeks, we saw such a change in Mum that we were happy for her to become a full-time resident. All the staff we have dealt with have been kind, helpful and caring.

I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the manager and her team at St Laura's for all their help and support at what has been an extremely difficult and stressful time for us all. We viewed many care homes once it was agreed that Mum could no longer manage to live safely at home due
to her progressing Dementia, and St Laura's and the manager stood out well above any others due to not only the beautiful setting and facilities but because of the care, compassion, support and effort that everyone gave us. Knowing Mum can now live out her remaining years in such an excellent environment lifted a massive weight from our shoulders, and all we now have to think about is looking forward to life returning to some normality and being able to spend as much time as we can visiting Mum and enjoying life with her whilst we can. So, thank you, to all at St Laura's you are all living angels who deserve medals and recognition for the amazing work you do caring for the elderly and vulnerable.

My Mother has been a resident at St Lauras Care Home since the beginning of the first lockdown last March and whilst I have never been inside, I have been able to visit her all Covid compliant.
She is so happy and not distressed at all. She has dementia and I thought she may struggle to leave her own
house and stay there, but the staff have made her feel so comfortable and loving and they are always giving me feedback. They send me photos of her and I am able to video call her.
All the staff are outstanding, caring, kind and professional and have dealt with this horrible virus and pandemic with total dedication and I thank you all.
I have recommended two other residents who are now at St Lauras and cannot speak more highly of this care home. My Mother is in a very happy place. Thank you all.

Dad was one of the first residents to move into St Lauras. We chose Hertfordshire because the choice is so much better here, and we struck gold with St Lauras. Everything was brand new, having just opened, and it had the atmosphere of a friendly hotel - with light spacious communal areas and corridors,
tasteful décor, cinema room, gym, and a separate room for family meals. Dad is very pleased with his own room.


The staff have been excellent and worked tirelessly throughout the challenges Coronavirus brought 3 months after opening. Visits were stopped or adapted to keep everyone safe, and this is a top priory from the dedicated team there.


Dad was quite frail when he entered St Lauras, but with care and attention, he has regained weight and lost energy and is content and settled there now. It's often a difficult choice to make to go into a care home, but this has clearly been the best thing for my dad at a time when he was struggling to look after himself properly. Thank you, St Lauras.

My mum has been a resident at St Lauras for two months now. From day one, the staff have been truly wonderful! The carers are lovely, kind, caring and empathetic. The staff appear to love their work and this shows in everything they do. The manager is so caring, approachable and understanding. She always
makes time to speak and listen to any concerns. I must include the lovely administrator in my review, because she is also wonderful. My mum particularly loves the creative activities, so a special thank you to the staff who run those. It is so reassuring to know that my mum is in such safe and caring hands, and you can't put a price on that.

My uncle has been with St Lauras for a little over a year. As NOK and POA, I am very satisfied with the care he has received. During the year, he has progressed to the Rose level, where dementia patient is cared for, and he has been very happy. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, St Lauras has been
fastidious with its management and infection control. I have been able to see and speak to my uncle pretty much throughout, albeit not always face-to-face. I am very happy and relieved that I found St Lauras and, even in hindsight, would choose it again. Top marks to both the management and care teams.

My mum and dad went to St Lauras for Christmas the first year it was open. They enjoyed their ‘holiday’. We felt reassured that we’d chosen the right place for them when the time came - near me, lovely environment and good food. 8-months later, my dad reached the ‘tipping point’, and he came quite happily
looking forward to a life with more help and a few things going on to make life more interesting. My mum wasn’t quite so keen and certainly challenged staff in her time there before Covid took her from us.
Life for residents and their families has been quite different from the usual care home life. Very limited visits. You are not able to see their rooms or sit with them in their lounges. So it would be good to have a bit more information or photos of activities going on.
The care at St Lauras has been good even when things got really tough in January. The staff know my dad well now, are sensitive to his needs and take good care of him in what is a very difficult time for him.

I’m guessing that finding a care home for a loved one isn’t easy at the best of times, and it certainly came with plenty of challenges during a global pandemic. At every step, my contact with St Lauras has been impeccable, and they have helped to make us, as a family, feel supported during this really
difficult time. Given that visits have been limited (and sometimes impossible) over the past months, St Lauras has been great at keeping me updated on care plans, general activities, and next steps. I really cannot speak highly enough of the staff and management team. They have made a very difficult time bearable. My ratings here are based on my opinions based on virtual visits (lockdown means I haven’t actually been able to visit more than at a very basic level) and feedback from my relative. It’s difficult for me to have a personal opinion on some of them, such as the food and drink, as I have no direct insight, but I am confident that the feedback I have had is accurate.

The hardest thing I’ve ever done was making the decision for my dad to move into a residential home during the middle of a pandemic. It’s been so hard letting go and handing over all trust to a group of strangers. There have been emotional ups and downs, and St Lauras have been amazing. Giving my dad
all the care he deserves and being so kind. They have always been so patient with all my phone calls and been so caring to my dad. I can’t wait for things to open up so I can spend more quality time with him and show my real appreciation to the staff. There are some outstanding carers St Lauras and management are always on have for advice and support.

Very happy with the staff and facilities at St Lauras. My Mum took a while to settle, but with patience and understanding from all the staff, she now seems much happier. Whenever I visit St Lauras, I leave happy in the knowledge that Mum is being properly cared for. The Covid testing system on arrival
is very organised, everyone knows their role, and this gives me confidence that the care home is managed very well. I would definitely recommend St Lauras.

The hardest thing in my life was sharing my mum with a care home, and then we visited St Lauras. I can’t put into words how loving and genuine the staff are, how beautiful the home and grounds are and how at home my family feel when we visit. I visited at least 12 care homes in and around the area,

My family and I are so fortunate and thankful to have found St Lauras Care Home for my grandmother.
The whole team at St Lauras continue to deliver a wonderful level of care and support; doing so with great attention to detail, thought, patience, compassion and kindness. Everyone has been so helpful
and friendly from the start, continuing to do so in the more challenging world that we are living in at the moment. A lovely and professional team who always have a smile on their faces. Communication is proactive and regular; which is much appreciated to maintain confidence that all is ok; whilst there is a good variety of activities too.


Meanwhile, the facilities are modern, kept very clean and spacious including various communal spaces. The food is also of a very good standard with variety and through the day drinks/tea are regularly offered proactively.


Can only once again thank everyone at St Lauras for the amazing care and kindness provided to my precious grandmother whose health and happiness has increased significantly since moving in, thank you all so much.

I spent a very pleasant couple of weeks in St Lauras after a hip replacement. One of my friends has been resident since the beginning of January, and they have coped magnificently with her needs - she was very stressed when she went there and has recently had shingles around her face and eye, spreading
into her hair. The girls are so kind and look after her so sensitively. They are normally very welcoming to visitors too (not at the moment!). I can't sing their praises enough and my friend's circumstances are very difficult for them to cope with - who can and cannot contact her - and they deal with it very efficiently. St Lauras has only been open for a few months, and I cannot think of any improvement which could be made to the appointment of the place - I think they have thought of everything! I can't rate any of the options anything but excellent from my own experience and my friend's.

Eme Cameron

Job Title: Home Manager

Eme started her career in the care sector at the age of 19. She has undertaken almost every role within a home - from Domestic, Kitchen, and Care Assistant, to Senior Care Assistant and Engagement Lead. Doing so has cultivated her incredible success, as well as her most recent appointment as Home Manager at St Laura's.


From this, and as she tells all of her staff, there are no limits to progression: from responsibility and personal development to training and further education - she empowers the people around her to be the very best that they can be, regardless of their age, health or confidence. And by doing so, they in turn deliver the exceptional care that the home continues to pride itself on.
