For me, the whole process dealing with care UK and in particular the entire team at Oakfield Croft was nothing short of fantastic! From our first tour to the onboarding of my father with our very tight timeline to ensure my father wasn't left alone and vulnerable made me realise that Oakfield Croft
was the right choice. They really do make you feel at home, not just the residents but the family who come to visit. Their communication was swift and the customer relationship manager was extremely helpful throughout the process. My father who has been through so much in a short period of time is quite enjoying the company the other residents and staff offer. He sings the chef's praises I haven't had a bad meal! Those were his exact words. He's making great use of the cinema suite being a film buff. His health happiness and well-being are my utmost priority and Oakfield Croft is delivering in spades. The place is fabulous if you are considering it for your loved ones check it out, smiles on all the resident's staff and visitors' faces.

My parents needed respite care while I was on holiday, and following an extensive search for a home that could accommodate a married couple, I contacted Oakfield Croft. We attended an open day together, and the following week we were lucky enough to be able to book them in. My parents settled in really
easily, as before they went in, they were introduced to all the staff and shown around the home properly. The respite stay was so successful that they are now residents, and they embrace all that Oakfield Croft has to offer. Nothing is too much trouble, and they are always treated with dignity and respect. There are lots of activities on offer, and my mum particularly likes having her hair done. The food is of extremely high quality, and the dining room set-up always looks like a proper restaurant. The daily menus are shown on a notice board, and there is always a good choice of food. Oakfield Croft is a bright and airy home with lovely rooms and lovely staff. A real home-from-home.

My eldest sister was diagnosed with early-onset dementia at the beginning of 2022 and was no longer able to care for herself at home despite full social service input. After a brief hospital stint due to a fall, she was admitted to a care home for assessment before finally arriving at Oakfield.
As
a family, we feel the choice of Oakfield has been a blessing and a great relief from the stress and worry about her future, knowing from the start she was going to be well cared for.
Despite the pandemic, the arrangements for her move with the management team was made as stress free as possible. All the staff are friendly, respectful and on hand for any help and advice and flexible to any visits/interaction with family. The cafe is a fantastic space and the gardens a lovely escape on a nice day.
As a GP I have visited many facilities and feel Oakfield is an example other homes should aspire to.
To know your loved one is in a safe and supportive environment is beyond measure.

My sister has been at Oakfield Croft for a month and a half now and has settled in so well. The staff have gone over and above to make her welcome and are always friendly and helpful. She was welcomed to the care home with a special meal of her choice and her favourite music was played. She is very
happy there and the facilities and surroundings are ideal. The staff have also made us feel welcome when we visit and have made time to get to know her well and her likes and dislikes. She has a beautiful room, surrounded by her own familiar belongings. It’s such a lovely care home we felt so relieved to get her in somewhere so well run where we know she’s safe and very happy.

The decision to have to trust others to care for your mum is one of the most difficult ones I have ever had to make. After viewing lots of homes, this one was by a hundred percent the best and the only one I felt would give Mum the opportunity to be part of a family environment and feel loved by both
staff and other residents. The huge bond Mum has with the staff is amazing, she is even letting them help her with personal care. This did not happen at the home she was in assessment for or in hospital. Her beautiful room is very similar to her own home. I want to say a huge thank you to the lovely staff who have been so kind. You are all like family now and the home is a huge credit to you all.


Also the housekeeping, laundry and activities Co ordinaters are wonderful too,a special thank you to the chef ,the food is excellent and the cakes in the coffee shop.

My mum moved into Oakfield Croft a couple of months ago having had a fall at home and also being diagnosed with dementia. Making the decision to move a parent into a residential home is probably one of the most heart-wrenching decisions you can make. Having looked at many private and local authority
facilities, as soon as I walked into Oakfield Croft I knew it was the perfect place for mum. She absolutely loves it and the care and attention she has received from day one is second to none. Every single member of staff at Oakfield Croft has made our family welcome and we have 100% confidence in their ability to provide mum with the best care available. Thank you to the manager and his team, it really is the staff that makes the difference between a residential home and a home from home!

My sister was not coping well at home and so was booked in for two weeks of respite care in Oakfield Croft. I hoped that she would like it enough to want to remain there as a resident. I need not have worried as she settled in very quickly. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the facilities
are excellent. My sister enjoys visits to the cinema, and the cafe and is eating so much better due to the tasty meals. Her mental health seems to have improved since she has been in Oakfield Croft and she is no longer anxious about anything. I am sure this is why she has not expressed any wish to return to her home although she always said that she never wanted to leave it. It is a great relief to know that she is being well cared for and is happy.

After looking after Mum at home for 4 years (with Alzheimer's), we made the very difficult decision to book her in for some respite care. We looked at a lot of homes in the area, but in the end settled on Oakfield Croft. The home itself is beautiful - however with Mum's condition being quite advanced
now - I think it was every bit as important that we knew she was going to get the degree of care she needed. Oakfield Croft had a great CQC rating and we were immediately impressed with the amazing team running the establishment. Right from our very first visit when Mum moved in - they were there to greet us and make sure the transition went as smoothly as possible. We decided to extend Mum's respite - and then make the residency permanent - and feel very lucky to have found Mum a new home here. Outstanding food, a fantastic activities co-ordinator, a brilliant managerial team and front-desk support, and of course a solid team of carers and nurses; all in all a great place to live!

My parents moved into Oakfield Croft in January this year and from day one they have been welcomed and made to feel at home. The staff are always friendly, respectful, and professional, nothing is too much trouble for them and they go out of their way to deliver individually tailored care for each of
my parents. Both are looking so much better than they did this time last year and we have peace of mind knowing they are so well cared for and happy. The food is absolutely fantastic, the choices and presentation are such high quality and the chef provides birthday cakes for residents as well as themed celebration dishes for events such as Bonfire night, Chinese New Year, summer barbecues in the lovely gardens, etc. My mum has said that they should have made the move years ago, and, coming from someone who has resisted help for so long, means a lot. All care homes should be like Oakfield Croft, I cannot recommend this facility and its staff highly enough.

I was impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff when I went to visit Oakfield for the first time. I was looking for a home for my mother - a very independent-minded 94-year-old, who has resisted adequate care for several years. Mum fell, was hospitalised and was finally unable
to return home to live alone as previously.
The transition from hospital to Oakfield was managed impeccably, with clear communication at every stage (very important for me as I live abroad and was unable to be present on the day Mum was eventually welcomed to Oakfield Croft).
Mum is very happy with her new home and has already made new friends. She loves her room and has positively commented on the food, which is high praise indeed!
It's very soon after Mum's move into Oakfield Croft - so far, it could hardly have gone better. Many thanks to all involved at Oakfield for their care and support of my mum.

I needed to move my parents into a care home when my 96-year-old father had a fall and he and my mother (same age) decided they could no longer live independently.
After a bit of research in their local area, we settled on Oakfield Croft.
The staff there have been very good in helping set up my
parents move (I live in Ireland and have been travelling back and forth) and have had to do a lot of the contact by phone or email.
My parents have only been at Oakfield Croft a short time and are having to adjust to having everything done for them rather than living independently.
I think the staff at Oakfield Croft are also having to make adjustments as most of their other residents need more care than my parents.
My parents have two lovely rooms on the ground level, which each have patio doors and a patio with table and chairs and overlook the garden area.
All the staff I met were very kind, helpful and caring.
In time, I'm sure my parents will adjust to their new lifestyle.

My mum moved into Oakfield Croft in Dec 2020. It was an extremely difficult and emotional decision for us to make as a family and the staff at Oakfield Croft were understanding and patient with our constant queries. Mum settled well. Her care has been tailored to suit her needs and where difficulties
have been encountered, the staff have included us in the discussions to find appropriate solutions. It isn't easy adapting to the current visiting guidelines but I feel Oakfield Croft emphasise this and go the extra mile to make sure families are kept 'in touch' during these exceptional circumstances. The residents are well cared for and the activities are thoughtfully arranged with their individual interests in mind. I am extremely grateful that my very fit Mum is able to keep moving all day and the staff keep her busy. They do go the extra mile - both figuratively and literally where my Mum is concerned! Thank you, Oakfield Croft.

My father took the brave decision to move into permanent care in March 2021. This was after years of independence and health challenges. It was a huge step; he felt this to be an admission of some loss of independence or even failure, perhaps defeat at the hands of his health challenges. It was nothing
short of brave in my mind, but making that decision was a complex one for my father. Having made that choice, I was delighted to hear my father say "I wish I'd done this years ago!". The venue, care team, standard of service and dignity are incredible. My father loves the food, the garden and the community he has become part of so quickly.

We have two elderly parents who had resisted any move from their own home for too long. Mother arrived at Oakfield Croft alone on the fourth March and in rather stressful circumstances. She has struggled to settle in alone but all the staff made a big effort to comfort and reassure her. On the twenty
ninth of March our father was released from hospital and has joined her at Oakfield Croft, thankfully. As a family, we are confident they are both getting the best care and attention in the area.

In March, my mother was taken straight from the hospital to Oakfield Croft and put into end of life care. This was all organised by the home. Three weeks later, my mother is out of end of life care and slowly recovering. In that time, all the staff have been outstanding in the care of my mother. I would

Mum has been resident at Oakfield Croft since September 2020. The difference in her well-being since moving in has been wonderful. Mum has a very stubborn nature, but she loves her room and the staff, everything she needs is catered for.
The staff (all of them) are very caring, professional and friendly.
I would recommend the home to anyone looking for a safe haven for a loved one.

Job Title: Customer Relations Manager

I used to work in the leisure industry as a Club Manager, overseeing the day-to-day running of the club, membership and the team. When I was looking for a role that offered more job satisfactory, this role seemed to tick all the boxes.


Moving to a new sector was a challenge at first, but has been exactly what I needed: I’m now helping older people and their families at a time when they really need help and support.


I’ve been very impressed by Care UK. There’s an amazing support structure and the organisation cares a lot about colleagues. There’s also a very clear vision for what the care we provide should look like. It’s all about supporting residents to continue living life to the full.


After a busy and productive day at Oakfield Croft I like to take my dog, Poppy, for a long walk and spend some time with my family. I also enjoy horse riding and going to the gym.

My background is in hotel housekeeping, but when I saw this role, I thought I’d like to use my skills and experience to help older people.

I’m passionate about great food, and about helping to change the way care home catering is viewed. Care UK is a great place to work for its forward-thinking approach to food and dining for older people.


Standards are the key to success, so, coming in to the home from the start, my priorities have been to set up the kitchen properly: setting robust standards and recruiting and training a team who can meet and maintain those standards.


Quality and attention to detail are vital, and I love getting to know residents’ preferences and then creating dishes that they’ll enjoy. I’m always reading cookbooks and keeping up with the latest cooking trends, and I’m looking forward to enabling residents to enjoy their favourite meals and even try something new.

I have always been interested in the way businesses are run and, seeing how successful Care UK is, I decided to apply for the Receptionist/Administrator role when the home opened. After a year in that role, I moved into my current position as Business Administrator. When I was offered this role it showed me that a year of working hard and pushing myself to learn and develop had paid off.


My favourite part of my day is seeing the residents and making them smile. It’s very rewarding knowing that we are in this job for them. Seeing them happy makes everything worth it. Residents do become like family.


I think a good Business Administrator should be organised and empathetic, and good at multitasking. Focus, patience and a big smile help too! A lot of the role is task-oriented, but it’s also about building relationships with people. I enjoy getting to know new residents, relatives and colleagues, and I’m looking forward to helping to make Oakfield Croft as successful as it can be.

I’ve worked in the care sector all my career, beginning at the tender age of 15 when I did work experience in a residential home. I then became a care assistant and worked my way up. The rest is history!
