The emphasis at Oakfield Croft is on enabling residents to continue to enjoy a wonderful lifestyle. The home has its own cinema room, hair and beauty salon, plus an inviting café where residents and visitors will be free to help themselves to a freshly brewed coffee or tea, as well as a slice of homemade cake.

Each bedroom is individually styled and furnished, with an en-suite wet room, and residents are welcome to personalise their space.

My Mum is very well looked after, looks wonderful. The staff are so good with her in this most difficult year, they have been very accommodating of our need to Mum which has been very well received. It has not been easy for them but they always have a smile on their faces and cannot do enough for us,
family and their residents.

Our mother some weeks ago came to live at Oakfield Croft Nursing Home. As her caregivers, it was a very difficult decision for us to make, especially in such trying times. The staff at Oakfield Croft have supported us greatly, ensuring us of their specialist care and attention to detail. Which is at
all times paramount to us regarding our mother's general happiness, health and well-being, while on her journey living with dementia. The staff update us regularly and demonstrate a very good standard of knowledge and experience of caring for the elderly, especially for those who are most vulnerable, and in need of intense supervision. We are impressed with the professional care given to our mum and for providing her with comfort and security in a homelike environment.

The professionalism and care that my friend receives from everybody is second to none. During these difficult times (pandemic) not being able to visit, the staff go above and beyond to keep us in touch. It’s difficult that we cannot visit but it’s the only way they can ensure she stays in good health,
which would have been impossible if she continued to live alone.

Our initial thoughts are extremely positive. It was, of course, difficult to choose a setting during this pandemic, and with our mum having just been assessed as in need of 24-hour care. Staff were very friendly and asked about our mother's history and character. We were shown around the outside of
the home and were able to look through a window asking as many "silly" questions as we wanted.
Mum was received in a warm and compassionate way. We feel that our mum is being treated with great respect and that all aspects of her care needs are being considered.

This is a lovely, brand new care home. It's in a very good location, easily accessible and walking distance to shops, cafes, a canal. Dad has been there a couple of weeks now. The admission process was very well supported. We were given clear communications around when he could move, how to take his
belongings in, and the special arrangements for COVID-19. The home has video chat set up so that we are able to talk to Dad as well as have short visits in the garden. We are looking forward to meeting more of the staff and getting to know the home better, but first impressions have been very good.

Our mum’s capacity was deteriorating, and her welfare was a concern to us. We had discussed the need for full-time residential care as a family and had an appointment with Oakfield Croft to view the premises with Mum, which we did. Then the dreaded COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were put in place.
The team at Oakfield were incredibly understanding and did everything possible to ensure that Mum was in a safe environment within days. It was incredibly hard for us as a family as we couldn’t take Mum and settle her in due to the restrictions, however, this did not phase the Oakfield Croft team. Mum arrived to a welcoming committee who took her to her room and made it feel like home. Mum has her hair and nails done every week, watches films, listens to music, plays games and, having never used technology in her life, FaceTimes us each week with the help of the team. It’s an amazing place with a professional, compassionate and understanding team (to us as a family, not just Mum).

The staff have been extremely helpful in helping get my mother into the home at very short notice. I can't, unfortunately, give a first-hand report on the home as unable to visit due to the control measures for Coronavirus. However, from what I've seen on the website and facetime sessions, it looks
fantastic, and can't wait to visit once restrictions are lifted. My mum seems to be settling well. Thank you all.

During dealing with the staff at the care home, I found them to be: friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. What struck me was the understanding and importantly for me the transparency of what would have been a difficult process. The home, though it was in the final stages of completion, had excellent
facilities and would be clearly a comfortable place for my uncle to stay.

Job Title: Customer Relations Manager

I used to work in the leisure industry as a Club Manager, overseeing the day-to-day running of the club, membership and the team. When I was looking for a role that offered more job satisfactory, this role seemed to tick all the boxes.


Moving to a new sector was a challenge at first, but has been exactly what I needed: I’m now helping older people and their families at a time when they really need help and support.


I’ve been very impressed by Care UK. There’s an amazing support structure and the organisation cares a lot about colleagues. There’s also a very clear vision for what the care we provide should look like. It’s all about supporting residents to continue living life to the full.


After a busy and productive day at Oakfield Croft I like to take my dog, Poppy, for a long walk and spend some time with my family. I also enjoy horse riding and going to the gym.

My background is in hotel housekeeping, but when I saw this role, I thought I’d like to use my skills and experience to help older people.


In my role, organisation is key to success. For that reason the morning is my favourite time of the day as it’s my opportunity to help my team to get organised and know what they need to achieve that day.


I love going the extra mile to ensure residents are comfortable and happy. Job Title: Head Chef

I’m passionate about great food, and about helping to change the way care home catering is viewed. Care UK is a great place to work for its forward-thinking approach to food and dining for older people.


Standards are the key to success, so, coming in to the home from the start, my priorities have been to set up the kitchen properly: setting robust standards and recruiting and training a team who can meet and maintain those standards.


Quality and attention to detail are vital, and I love getting to know residents’ preferences and then creating dishes that they’ll enjoy. I’m always reading cookbooks and keeping up with the latest cooking trends, and I’m looking forward to enabling residents to enjoy their favourite meals and even try something new.

Job Title: Business Administrator

I have always been interested in the way businesses are run and, seeing how successful Care UK is, I decided to apply for the Receptionist/Administrator role when the home opened. After a year in that role, I moved into my current position as Business Administrator. When I was offered this role it showed me that a year of working hard and pushing myself to learn and develop had paid off.


My favourite part of my day is seeing the residents and making them smile. It’s very rewarding knowing that we are in this job for them. Seeing them happy makes everything worth it. Residents do become like family.


I think a good Business Administrator should be organised and empathetic, and good at multitasking. Focus, patience and a big smile help too! A lot of the role is task-oriented, but it’s also about building relationships with people. I enjoy getting to know new residents, relatives and colleagues, and I’m looking forward to helping to make Oakfield Croft as successful as it can be.

I’ve worked in the care sector all my career, beginning at the tender age of 15 when I did work experience in a residential home. I then became a care assistant and worked my way up. The rest is history!


Commissioning a brand new care home is a dream for most Home Managers. You have the chance to shape everything from the team to the home’s values and standards of care. But no Home Manager can do it all by themselves. Success is all about teamwork. If colleagues are happy, then residents will be happy, so I’m looking forward to making Oakfield Croft a home where the team is positive, motivated and everyone loves what they do.
