Portway House Specialist Care Centre is centrally located in Oldbury and specialises in palliative care and care for people with disabilities. The care provided to residents focuses on the holistic needs and preferences of each individual, who are highly involved in their care packages to ensure they receive the care and support they need.

The purpose-built facility has 48 luxury en-suite rooms spread across three floors. The environment promotes privacy and choice with the aim of ensuring each resident has an engaging and relaxing experience.

The home has three suites catering for separate needs and age groups, all offering a high standard of care and support.

The home has its own activities organiser and residents are encouraged to take part in the many activities and events with one to one activities available.

I am very happy with Portway House. The staff are caring and helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and tidy.
I would like ore activities/entertainment for residents and easier access at weekends, as there is no reception staff or management and it often takes a long time to attract staff to open
the door.

Mom has been a resident at Portway House for approximately 17 months.
Sadly, Mom is bedridden and living with dementia, but the staff and carers have treated her with dignity and compassion.
It has been an emotional time for the family, but they have always been extremely pleasant and helpful.
From
the cleaners/laundry, carers, nurses, entertainment and staff. They work as a team.

My father went into care about eight years ago, he has been happy there and finds everyone very helpful. The home itself is very clean and well looked after. All staff are very helpful and let me know if anything is wrong.

I feel so lucky to have found Mom's forever home at Portway House. They have so much love and care for the residents. My mom is so settled and happy here. I have so much peace of mind knowing she is being so well cared for.

My mother has settled well thanks to the wonderful staff. Their efforts to stimulate her have been much appreciated it is almost as if she is a family member rather than a client. Portway House has taken a lot of stress and worry from me for that I am always going to be grateful.

My brother is looked after very well at the nursing home. The staff are friendly and caring, the room that he is in is very clean and well looked after. The management is also very friendly and keeps me informed if there is any change in my brother's condition.

My mom settled very quickly onto Portway House. The room is very comfortable and she enjoys watching the TV supplied. If she requires company she has a lovely lounge to visit. She enjoys all her meals and is looked after by all the staff excellently. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff if anytime
I have questions that need answering. Would definitely recommend Portway to anyone. It is a very clean and modern care home. Gives me peace of mind my mom is being cared for brilliantly.

In the time my husband has been in Portway House, I have found all staff and nurses very polite, caring and helpful. Even the building and all the surroundings are really comfortable. I have been into my husband's room and it has everything he needs and is what every person would expect in a very fine
hotel. And my thanks go to everyone who works there. Regards to them all.

This home is excellent. My mother couldn't have had made a better choice to stay at Portway House Specialist Care Centre. The staff were warm, friendly and made my mom's stay very comfortable so a big thank you to all the staff who looked after my mom. Hopefully, she won't be back, but if she ever did,

My mom was transferred to Portway House after being in the hospital for 4 weeks. Whilst in hospital she was diagnosed with COVID-19 which made my sister and I very anxious. Mom has Parkinson's dementia so this was also a concern as she wouldn't understand what was going on and we couldn't be there to
reassure her. From the first telephone call with the nurse, I knew she would be fine. She went 'out of her way' to make sure that my anxieties were alleviated. Every time we rang to speak to a member of staff they were kind and supportive and couldn't do enough for us. They arranged for my sister to wave to mom through the window as she hadn't seen her for 5 weeks. We also had a video call set up but unfortunately, mom was admitted into hospital the day before. The care and support to mom was excellent and the support to my sister and I was amazing. I have no issue in recommending this placement to anyone. Many thanks to everyone, carry on the good work.

When my mom went to Portway she was a very poorly lady with no interest in living, she had given up on life. Within a week my mom had her spark back, she was laughing and joking, full of praise for the staff - she really was a different lady. Portway gave us our mom back. Mom was very happy and content
at Portway, and they will never know what that means to me, I am so grateful to them.

I can't praise Portway enough for the care given to my mother. She was so happy there. All staff are amazing. They couldn't do enough for her. They also were very good to us when we were allowed to visit (before lockdown!) I'm sure there must have been times they were very busy but they always had time
for us. We must have been a bit of a nuisance with endless phone calls! Thank you, Portway for the wonderful care given to my mother. I know she loved her time with you. She loved you all! Portway is a beautiful, clean and welcoming home.

My name is Jackie I started employment in July 2020 with Portway House, before I was a singer entertainer working at pubs and clubs. Occasionally doing care homes. When covid hit and it was apparent singing in pubs and clubs was no longer, I decided to think about a career change and decided that I would look into being a Activity Co-Ordinator in a care home as this would utilize a lot of my skills.


When I was introduced to the team at Portway House, I knew it was the place for me. I am really pleased when I was offered the position. The staff and the residents quickly become very important to me. I love working at Portway House, its giving me the opportunity to grow and learn every day and gain knowledge I wouldn't have just singing in pubs and clubs.


It can be very lonely and isolating being on the road as a singer. I have got to really know people and built real friendships and I am really grateful to be given this opportunity. . I want to build on this and grow with a great team of people at Portway.
