We were quite worried initially about the prospect of leaving mum in respite care for 2 weeks whilst taking a family holiday. However on arrival at Castlehill, all our concerns disappeared as Mum was made to feel very welcome, and within half an hour had settled in drinking tea and chatting with other
residents! Staff were fantastic, obviously compassionate and caring professionals and giving us the confidence to relax, safe in the knowledge she'd be well looked after. Mum would love to come again later in the year. Thanks again!

I can’t thank the manager and her amazing staff enough for the loving care and attention given to my mum in her short stay with them. Mum was due to go in for one week's respite, but unfortunately deteriorated quickly and never really had time to enjoy this wonderful place. The last week of Mum's life
was made so much easier for myself and my family as we knew she was in excellent hands. Nothing was a bother to any of them. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for care for a relative. It’s more like a five-star hotel.

I was needing a break and had a holiday booked. My huge concern was care for my dad (89) very unwell. Castlehill was recommended for respite. I was nervous about leaving dad as I have been his carer and he never wants to go in a home. Having dropped him off, I came away feeling happy. I collected him
over 2 weeks later and he was actually crying when he said goodbye to the staff. He has happily settled at home again.

The care that our mother received whilst staying at Castlehill was exceptional. The manager and her staff are extremely kind, helpful and well organised. They are so friendly and cannot do enough to help. We can't thank them enough for how they cared for our Mum. Castlehill is a real gem of a care home.

For the two weeks I stayed here, the staff were very good, friendly and helpful. There were times when I needed help and the staff was there straight away when I called, and was so gentle in helping me. All in all very good service.

The care my aunt got in Castlehill was exceptional. We could not have picked a better place for her to spend her last days. The staff were so kind and caring to her and the way they spoke to her in her last hours was wonderful. We would recommend to anyone looking to put a loved one in a care home,

My aunt was 100 years old when she left her own home to live at Castlehill. I had concerns as she had always lived independently but I need not have worried. To say the staff were excellent is an understatement. My aunt settled well and was treated with love, kindness, respect and dignity. She had her
101st birthday at Castlehill and although we were unable to be with her she had a wonderful day. It was so good to meet the wonderful staff when we were allowed to visit and we appreciated being able to spend time with her during her final days. During that time the team comforted her, reassured her and made it so much easier for the family. Thank you so much to you all, you are just the best.

Dad was looked after in Castlehill for the final 14 weeks of his long life. We had managed him at home for as long as Mum and I could but as his health failed and his dementia increased we were glad to be offered a place in Castlehill. The care provided was outstanding and person-centred. The carers
are very well trained to manage the challenges presented by service users like my dear Dad. I learned so much from them that I have now taken into my own clinical practice. They kept me informed of any changes, consulted me on what they thought would work, and cared for him as if he was their own. As the end of his life became apparent they had me into the home for the last 2 weeks which was a challenge in itself due to the pandemic. I really did witness exceptionally good care. They looked after me too and supported me through the simultaneous sudden loss of my mum. I have recommended this home to a number of my parents' friends. Keep up the excellent work.

From the minute we set foot in Castlehill foyer to drop Dad off we were so impressed with the attentiveness and kindness shown towards Dad. Subsequently since we have spoken on the phone he has settled in very well, thoroughly enjoying the excellent food and home baking and speaks very kindly of the
care he is receiving from the team. It's so reassuring and heartwarming for the family to know he is being well cared for.

My dear mother-in-law passed away last week in the wonderful care of Castlehill nursing staff. Granny needed 24-hour care due to Alzheimer's, following the sudden death of Granda. She was admitted to Castlehill 8 weeks ago, the home manager and nursing staff were so caring, we cannot thank them enough.
The environment is beautifully furnished and immaculately clean, nursing staff are wonderful, especially in these difficult times.

My dad moved to Castlehill Care Home in November as he wasn't happy in a previous Home. We couldn't get over the difference between the two. Not only the building but also the staff. They were so kind and caring to Dad in the short time he was a resident. The manager was always approachable and the
staff professional and sympathetic. I'm sure my Dad would have flourished in this Home if he had resided there from the start.

My mother became one of the first residents at Castlehill (Cradlehall) during February 2020, pre-COVID. Throughout this difficult year, she has thrived in this wonderful, safe, caring environment created by all the staff at the home. Although we cannot visit Mum we have been able to monitor her wellbeing
and the activities that she has been doing in the home through the Care Control App which is a perfect tool for using remotely and allows us to feel involved in Mum's life at the home. The staff have been first class at keeping us informed of any medical issues and have been able to set-up Zoom calls with Mum. We cannot recommend this care home highly enough.

My Aunt needed emergency respite care but we were not happy with the home she went to - thankfully Castlehill opened when it did! We were so impressed, peaceful and clean, no sirens blaring or residents aimlessly wandering. Castlehill is a haven of peace and friendliness. We were welcome day or night
and kept up to date regarding my Aunt’s needs and care plan which is available online. The accommodation is as like home from home as is possible in a care facility but what makes it special is the staff and the care they provide.
When you visit at any time, staff will actually be sitting with the residents socialising with them, encouraging them to socialise with other residents or taking part in activities. My Aunt could not communicate verbally but they still managed to strike up a beautiful rapport with her which was obvious to see. My Aunt died in April and I can hand on heart say if my Aunt could not pass away in her own home then I am grateful she was in Castlehill’s excellent care.

Mum came to the home in September. We had been very lucky to have visited the home before Covid, so we had seen how lovely an environment it would be for our mum and indeed our dad who sadly passed before he could move in.
We really had hoped that our wee mum could stay in her home of over 50 years
but this became impossible for her safety. Mum is as happy in this lovely home with her lovely girls (as she calls the staff) as she would be at home her only complaint is that we, her children, aren't living with her!
Just today l saw her walking again which after a stay in hospital had almost stopped and she always looks wonderful; nails painted, hair in different styles and dressed beautifully. Even with the Covid restrictions, l feel that we are all building a lovely relationship as one big new family for our wonderful perfect wee mum. I am so happy for Mum and for us to know she is safe and cared for perfectly.

My name is Nicola Donald and I am the Manager at Castlehill, our care home situated at Cradlehall, Inverness. I have ten years’ experience with a proven track record in working in care homes for the elderly.


I am passionate about delivering exceptional standards of individualised, enabling care and support to residents who choose to reside with us at Castlehill. Participation and inclusion of residents, relevant others and staff in the planning process ensures that residents’ needs, wishes, and aspirations are central to the development of each care plan.


At Castlehill we encourage clear communication with residents and relevant others with secure access provided to the care plan and resident notes for relevant individuals, thereby developing a trusting and participatory approach to care.


Families are encouraged to maintain relationships with their loved ones and hobbies and interests are developed and supported, thereby enabling the resident to live a full and active life. Castlehill provides your loved one with a true home from home.
