Oxbow Manor care home provides person-centred care in luxurious surroundings, including permanent and short-term residential, nursing and specialist dementia care.

The home is divided into suites which offer residents separate dining and living spaces. The smaller communities encourage residents to get to know each other and really feel at home.

Oxbow Manor also has a café, cinema room and a hair and beauty salon, as well as extensive gardens and outdoor spaces.

The friendly team runs various group and personalised one-to-one activities. If your loved one wants to continue attending a local church or club, or perhaps they want to go out to enjoy a pub lunch or shopping trip, the team will support them to do so.

My friend came to live in Oxbow temporarily whilst his wife recovered from a broken foot. He settled quickly and happily into life at Oxbow. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful and made my friend a part of Oxbow and he joined in all activities enthusiastically. The design and decoration
of the building (being newly built) is very easy to move around and everywhere is spacious and pleasant. The outside space is safe, enticing and restful. 10/10 from me - a friend.

Excellent care provided for my mum. The rooms are lovely, and the staff are very attentive with hourly checks done, including helping with having a drink, repositioning in bed and sitting and talking with Mum.

From the manager to the staff, everyone has been helpful, and the care has been great for my brother. The best nursing home I found in Shrewsbury by a long way to look after my brother. I think the food could be a little better, but apart from that, it's 99% perfect at this point, and he is getting
better - he was not in the last nursing home.

Visited my friend who was on respite. The environment was outstanding, and the team were fabulous. Everyone is friendly and approachable. The facilities were excellent. I would highly recommend Oxbow Manor if you are looking for first-class care.

Regular checks were taken to make sure we were ok.
I would really recommend Oxbow Manor to anyone wanting respite.
À la carte food menus - all food using fresh products.
You could stay for a year!

My mother has dementia, and the staff are excellent with her. Nothing is too much trouble. Have a choice on the menu, also will make something else if they don't like. Communication is very good; you can talk to them, make you feel like it's all one happy family. Always drinks and cake are available,
which are excellent.

From day one, Mum was made very welcome, nothing has been too much trouble, and all staff are friendly, knowledgable, caring and approachable. I am reassured that Mum is in very competent hands and am so grateful that I can leave Mum without worrying about her care. We have flexibility when visiting
or taking Mum out. The facilities in the well-led and well-managed home are very good. Mum always talks about what lovely meals she has eaten, how helpful everyone is, and she feels like "royalty".

My sister is a resident of Oxbow Manor. She is disabled and also has dementia. She is totally dependent on the care staff. We are most impressed with the nursing care she is receiving. Everyone is caring, kind and professional. When she first arrived, she was quite withdrawn but is now more alert, responsive
and happy. This is due to the wonderful care she is receiving. Her room is light, bright and beautifully clean. The care staff make sure she eats, drinks and has everything she needs. Nothing is too much trouble. Every member of staff is friendly, approachable and professional.

Donna Howard

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked for Care UK for most of my adult life, starting out as a healthcare assistant and progressing to my current role as Home Manager. With encouragement from colleagues, I also completed my nursing degree as a mature student.


Being able to work my way up and gain my qualifications (which also include NVQs in health and social care and leadership and management) has been a huge achievement for me and a big career highlight.


In this role, you need to be able to communicate well and have strong leadership and planning skills. Working as a team also means you have to be good at motivating people. It is also important to have a good grasp of budgets, and it is essential to be clear about safeguarding policies and procedures.

The work we do really does make a difference and that fills me with immense pride. It feels great when we get positive feedback from relatives who can see their loved ones are receiving the quality care they need.


My favourite part of the day is the time I’m able to spend having a coffee, cake and a chat with residents. Seeing everyone get along well and share special moments really does brighten up each day.


Outside of work, I love to travel and spend time with my children and grandchildren.
