Welcome to Harbour House, a care home within the Morar Living group. Harbour House is a home that creates a place for residents to live and love their life.

Harbour House are committed and passionate about focussing on the ‘person’, supporting everyone as an individual and to encourage maximum independence.

Morar Living strives to create a homelike environment, the small-scale living areas mean they provide support in small, quiet and homely areas. The environment is conducive in allowing them to support residents to continue to live life their way, while feeling at home.

Facilities at Harbour House provide all residents with private bedrooms complete with ensuite wet rooms, while assisted bathrooms provide residents with the ability to enjoy a bath should they wish to do so.

Shared facilities within the home include a cinema room to enjoy resident choice movies, private dining area, a day diner, resident servery/kitchen areas, quiet lounges, and a hairdressing salon. There is also a cafe bar and a piano bar where residents can enjoy a refreshment, with friends, when they choose.

Enclosed and secure garden spaces are available to allow people the move freely around the exterior of their home.

Harbour House has their own air-conditioned Mercedes vehicle, with wheelchair facilities, which is for use to support people to continue to be involved within their community, whether this be a day trip, an appointment, going for a coffee or visiting friends.

The team feel strongly that staff are invited into the home of residents, opposed to residents living in the care home. Encouraging residents, from the beginning, to direct their own care allows them to maintain their identity, providing a content and meaningful life.

My wife, who has a rare form of dementia became one of Harbour House’s first residents three weeks ago. Adapting to new surroundings, new people/voices was difficult for her and for staff. All have risen to the challenge of meeting her complex needs, working sensitively and professionally to assist
her to adapt to her new surroundings and to make her feel safe and secure during the day and night.
They have been diligent in doing everything in their power to help her understand where she is and what is happening to her. I have been kept involved throughout and have been informed about all the steps they have taken to meet my wife’s needs.
Covid restrictions have inevitably limited family contact so I am very appreciative of the effort that has been made to ensure I can maintain contact with my wife safely.
Although not yet in full swing, the staff have created a very positive atmosphere despite the difficult circumstances faced. I have been reassured that she is in the right place.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.253) out of 10 for Harbour House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.523 for Harbour House is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (5 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.523

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.73 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Harbour House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.93

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
