Hello. My name is Gemma Chalkley and I am the General Manager here at Moors Manor. Welcome to our website.

I aim to ensure residents, staff, families and visitors all feel they are in a caring, welcoming environment and being supported by every member of our team.

I have worked in adult care for 16 years with broad experience in the care sector. I started as a carer in a residential setting, quickly progressing to Senior and eventually changed course to nursing, where I became a Care Practitioner and gained clinical skills and knowledge alongside nurses. 

Barchester has a high standard of care and a superior lifestyle delivered throughout the company, and I endeavour to deliver those same values in our home. I am passionate about elderly care and I love making people smile by doing all I can to brighten their day. I am always available for a chat about our home, staff, services and most importantly, our residents.

Out of work, I am a mum to a teenage boy and have 2 dogs, who are my babies! I enjoy reading, Marvel films, paddle boarding and family time.

Hi my name is Adele and I am the Deputy Manager here at Moors Manor. I have worked in the care industry for over 10 years, starting as a carer and progressing to a Senior and now to Deputy Manager. I am a very passionate person who loves to make a positive difference, I strive to ensure our residents have a great quality of life and feel at home here at Moors Manor.

There is nothing more I enjoy than hearing residents and staff laughing and enjoying themselves together. My passion is ensuring every resident is treated with dignity, and respect and receives excellent person-centred care. I am very proud to be part of the team here at Moors Manor.

Hello my name is Laura and I am a Registered General Nurse here at Moors Manor. I have been a registered general nurse for 15 years. When I first qualified after studying at Southampton University I worked in hospitals for many years to gain more experience. I then worked as a senior nurse in a complex care setting for seven years. After this I then became a district nurse where I gained extensive experience in care nursing.

What I love about my job is being able to deeply connect with residents and their families providing them with comfort, support and ensuring dignified care. I have gained a great passion for palliative care, being able to spend time with the resident and their family.

In my spare time I volunteer at my church to help the elderly people get to hospital appointments. I also love spending time with my family, cooking and hosting dinners for everyone to enjoy.

Hello my name is Gaby and I am a Registered General Nurse here at Moors Manor Care Home. I have been a nurse for a couple of years where I have worked in NHS and Private Hospitals. I love my job as I am able to enhance the wellbeing and enrich the lives of our residents to the best of my ability. Outside of work I enjoy kitesurfing, surfing, cycling, travelling and going to the beach.

Hello my name is Claudia and I am Registered General Nurse here at Moors Manor Care Home. I have been a nurse for 11 years and I have worked at Bournemouth Hospital and other Nursing homes in the area. I was always very passionate about becoming a nurse and I love to make a difference in our residents lives. In my spare time I like to travel to various countries, listen to music and enjoy getting stuck into a really good book. I also have a passion for cooking and eating delicious food as well.

Hello my name is Misgana and I am a Registered General Nurse here at Moors Manor Care Home. I have been a nurse for over 15 years and I have worked in care homes in the local area. I love being able to look after people and give them the best quality care I can. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and am I am learning to play the guitar and piano as well.

Hello my name is Jino and I am a Registered General Nurse here at Moors Manor Care Home. I have been a nurse for 11 years and have worked in nursing homes. I really like to be able to bring positive changes into people lives. In my spare time I enjoy playing badminton, chess and watching “How it’s made” videos on YouTube.

Hi my name is Claire and I am a Registered General Nurse here at Moors Manor Care Home. I have been a nurse for a year and half and have been working at Southampton Hospital on the Emergency Medicine ward.

In my spare time I like to travel and go on at least 4 or 5 holidays a year and love spending time with son as well.

Hi, my name is Jenny, and I am the Care Community Lead here at Moors Manor. I have worked in the care industry for over 10 years, specialising in dementia nursing and end-of-life care. I started as a carer at 17 years old, I progressed through roles in my career from senior, to care practitioner to now care community lead. I feel very passionately about my job and like to think I make a difference in people’s lives. My passion is person-centred care and ensuring residents have choice, dignity, privacy and someone they know they can rely on to support them. I am very proud to be part of the team here at Moors Manor.

Hi, my name is Katie I am the Community Care Lead here at Moors Manor. I started working as a carer and gradually moved my way up to be a senior, now a community care lead. I have worked in care for the past 5 years in nursing, dementia and residential homes, this has helped me gain clinical skills and knowledge that I find will help me in the future of potentially becoming a nurse. I am so passionate about my job and very hard working, I love to make the residents smile and make their day brighter in any way I can, I will always make sure the residents will receive the highest standards of care and that they feel supported and comfortable with me. When I’m at home I love to do puzzles, sing and dance.

My name is Laura and I am the Home Services Advisor here at Moors Manor. I am so excited to be here and to help families and residents who are looking for care. Being that first point of contact I am here to help and guide through the process. One of the things I love about my role is seeing a resident who may be a bit nervous about moving into a home and seeing them flourish after being here for a few weeks.

In my spare time, I run a local wind band which I also play the saxophone in so I look forward to my band coming in to entertain our wonderful residents.

The thing I love about my job is interacting with the residents especially when we have events in the home.

I am married and have two children who keep me on my toes and we enjoy going to theme parks together as a family in my spare time.

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new homes and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Hello my name is John and I am the Head Chef here at Moors Manor Care Home. I am a conscientious Hospitality and Catering professional with experience of over 30 years in the industry. A highly motivated and efficient individual, whose thorough and precise approach to projects has yielded excellent results in opening and managing multiple restaurants across London.

During my career I have gained experience in running and developing businesses, contract and finance management, training, and development for chefs. Career highlights include retaining a Michelin Star in Waldo's 28 seated private dining restaurant at Cliveden House, as well as receiving and retaining a Michelin Star, BIB Gourmand at the Rose Street Restaurant in Wokingham, Berkshire.

Driven by my passion I always think of Cooking as my hobby and enjoy passing on my experience to others. I look forward to creating wonderful dishes for our residents to enjoy.

Hi, my name is Scott and I am the Maintenance Manager here at Moors Manor.

I joined Barchester in November 2020 after years of looking after buildings and facilities in colleges, hospitals and emergency services. This is my first role in the care sector.

I like to make a difference and enjoy the challenges that come with maintenance and running a building. I look forward to keeping this home a happy and safe place for our residents.

Hi, my name is Dorota and I am the Head of Housekeeping here at Moors Manor.

I joined Barchester in January 2021 after 10 years of working in the hotel industry. I am responsible for maintaining Barchester’s high standards of cleanliness and tidiness. I keep a homely atmosphere at Moors Manor, for all the residents and their relatives.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, sports (both doing and watching!), reading books and watching films.

Hi my name is Ron and I am the Admin Assistant here at Moors Manor. I have several years of experience working in care homes around Dorset. I grew up in American Air Force family, born in Banbury, and spent 20 years in the Army travelling the world and seeing over 40 countries. I've been based in Bournemouth for the last 18 years and live with my 20 year old daughter.

Hi my name is Tanya and I am the Home Admin Assistant here at Moors Manor. I am new to the care sector, having previously gained many years’ worth of admin and HR experience within a variety of other sectors.

I am enjoying learning all about the workings of a care home and have chosen a great company to learn from in Barchester! I love the variety and the customer facing aspect of my role, getting to know residents and their families.

I enjoy taking care of our residents and seeing them smile it really does melt my heart. I have my level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. I love to work with all of our residents, especially those living with dementia.

Hi, my name is Rosie and I am a Senior Carer here at Moors Manor. I have been here just over 2 years now and I have been in care for 30 years where I started as an HCA at Royal Bournemouth Hospital then moved on to Dorset Healthcare which then enabled me to do my training in mental health nursing. I then did my diploma in mental health nursing and since then done loads more training including level 3 and 5 in healthcare. I feel very passionate about dignity and I’m very compassionate about respect and person-centred care. Making my lovely residents smile and laugh is the best feeling.

Away from work, I enjoy family time plus camping and getting away. We have a crazy home which we share with 5 cats 2 tortoises and rabbits.

I moved to St. Leonards a year ago with my husband and we enjoy walks in the forest close by. We have a son and daughter who work and live independently and are our pride and joy!

My family are very important to me and I have two wonderful children and one grandaughter who I love very much.

The reason I started to work in care is I used to look after my grandparents which brought me so much joy. and I wanted to be able to look after others which I am able to do here in the home.
