I have really excellent treatment in every possible way. Friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff I encounter. Food is provided with great care to suit all tastes.

First impressions were extremely good, but unfortunately, this didn't continue. It took 3-5 weeks for my mother's medication to be sorted out. Food was poor - welsh rarebit consisted of a slice of bread toasted on one side and a slice of processed cheese! My mother's constant request for fresh water
was ignored. Staff appeared to be unsupervised and lazy. My mother had to advocate for residents that were unable or unwilling to speak for themselves.

I couldn't recommend Moors Manor enough. All the staff have been wonderful, from the care team to the office manager. The rooms are lovely and always clean and tidy at whatever time of day you visit. Also, the food is great and always freshly made.

When I walk into the home, it has such a calming feeling, and all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
They always have delicious homemade fresh cakes available in the bistro area. The surrounding views are beautiful.

Beautiful home with a lovely garden and outlook over the forest. The staff made sure Nan was happy and well cared for. She loved the meals and activities, and her room was lovely. Staff always said hello and made us welcome when we visited.

My experience of Barchester care home at St Leonard’s is only positive. My dad moved into the care home last October after not coping at home. The care home have been very welcoming to him and included him in lots of activities. The food is excellent and they even cooked his favourite dinner and pudding
on his birthday. The staff are always happy and attentive to my dad's needs and I feel very satisfied and safe that he is in good caring hands. As I live many miles away, if I have any problems I just email or phone the home and everything is sorted out immediately.

The accommodation and facilities at Moors Manor are excellent, but what really makes this place exceptional are the team of friendly and caring people who have created an environment that feels warm and totally inclusive.
My Dad has been a resident for around 4-months, and it's so refreshing to say
that nothing ever seems to be too much trouble, there are always activities for him to enjoy participating in, and the highly professional staff have given me peace of mind that my Dad is receiving the very best support at all times along with fun and friendship.
Most importantly during this time, my Dad has always felt welcome, safe and part of the team which he really appreciates.

My husband has just completed his second 2-week respite care at Moors Manor. The home is very comfortable and all members of staff are extremely caring, efficient and friendly. The restaurant is lovely and the food served is excellent.

My father has been suffering from Alzheimer's for around 4 years. Following a recent 9 week stay in hospital, it became clear that Dad would not have the mobility and mental capacity needed in order to manage in his own home. We therefore sought a suitable care home for Dad, and were very fortunate
to find that Moors Manor were able to cater for his needs. From the outset, we were impressed with the staff and the facilities, and in the time Dad has been a resident, he has been treated as a valued member of the community at the home, and has been looked after with respect and dignity. Apart from the excellent catering, the home also offers a wide range of stimulating activities, and it is lovely to see Dad starting to engage with fellow residents. We are delighted to have found such a lovely new home for Dad!

I placed my husband here for respite care. He has Lewy Body Dementia. The staff and management have all been very kind and helpful regarding his care. The care home is immaculate. My husband seemed very content during his stay, and I hope to use Moors Manor again.

My wife came into respite as her condition has deteriorated and I needed time to sort out her future. She was very well treated as far as possible by the carers. I was her only contact during the covid period and she must have found it all strange and frightening. A very difficult situation which was
dealt with very well by the home.

Moors Manor has been looking after my husband for three weeks. I feel very happy that he has been well looked after. The accommodation and gardens are all very well looked after. Staff have all been so friendly and attentive. I will have no worries about him returning for a future stay, in order to

Hello. My name is Gemma Chalkley and I am the General Manager here at Moors Manor. Welcome to our website.


I aim to ensure residents, staff, families and visitors all feel they are in a caring, welcoming environment and being supported by every member of our team.


I have worked in adult care for 16 years with broad experience in the care sector. I started as a carer in a residential setting, quickly progressing to Senior and eventually changed course to nursing, where I became a Care Practitioner and gained clinical skills and knowledge alongside nurses. 


Barchester has a high standard of care and a superior lifestyle delivered throughout the company, and I endeavour to deliver those same values in our home. I am passionate about elderly care and I love making people smile by doing all I can to brighten their day. I am always available for a chat about our home, staff, services and most importantly, our residents.


Out of work, I am a mum to a teenage boy and have 2 dogs, who are my babies! I enjoy reading, Marvel films, paddle boarding and family time.

Hello my name is Laura and I am a Registered General Nurse here at Moors Manor. I have been a registered general nurse for 15 years. When I first qualified after studying at Southampton University I worked in hospitals for many years to gain more experience. I then worked as a senior nurse in a complex care setting for seven years. After this I then became a district nurse where I gained extensive experience in care nursing.


What I love about my job is being able to deeply connect with residents and their families providing them with comfort, support and ensuring dignified care. I have gained a great passion for palliative care, being able to spend time with the resident and their family.


In my spare time I volunteer at my church to help the elderly people get to hospital appointments. I also love spending time with my family, cooking and hosting dinners for everyone to enjoy.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.


When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.


I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new homes and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

A highly motivated and efficient individual, whose thorough and precise approach to projects has yielded excellent results in opening and managing multiple restaurants across London.


During my career I have gained experience in running and developing businesses, contract and finance management, training, and development for chefs. Career highlights include retaining a Michelin Star in Waldo's 28 seated private dining restaurant at Cliveden House, as well as receiving and retaining a Michelin Star, BIB Gourmand at the Rose Street Restaurant in Wokingham, Berkshire.


Driven by my passion I always think of Cooking as my hobby and enjoy passing on my experience to others. I look forward to creating wonderful dishes for our residents to enjoy.

I joined Barchester in November 2020 after years of looking after buildings and facilities in colleges, hospitals and emergency services. This is my first role in the care sector.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, sports (both doing and watching!), reading books and watching films.

I have been here just over 2 years now and I have been in care for 30 years where I started as an HCA at Royal Bournemouth Hospital then moved on to Dorset Healthcare which then enabled me to do my training in mental health nursing. I then did my diploma in mental health nursing and since then done loads more training including level 3 and 5 in healthcare. I feel very passionate about dignity and I’m very compassionate about respect and person-centred care. Making my lovely residents smile and laugh is the best feeling.


Away from work, I enjoy family time plus camping and getting away. We have a crazy home which we share with 5 cats 2 tortoises and rabbits.
