The policy clearly states smoking is not permitted, cigarette ends are plastered everywhere. Rudeness and no manners towards staff, ask to do activities and smoking comes as a priority. Cleaned them myself yet more appear scattered around. Feeling disrespected during my stay here as the smell of cigarettes
is disgusting, also harmful to habitat and wildlife, and could also cause a fire if not careful. Cigarette ends are being put out in the sink in the communal area. The policy clearly states cigarettes are banned in the United Kingdom since 2007 which means no smoking is permitted in public places. It needs to be reviewed thoroughly by Health and Safety Executive and also Environmental Health Officers/Fire and rescue. However, this is causing unwanted health issues that are not what's needed. Also clearly being done near the CCTV. This needs to be addressed by local authorities, most of the residents support Manchester United.

Reply from Kiri Abrams, Regional Manager at Eagle House Residential Care Home

Thank you for your review.
We take these concerns very seriously. Firstly, we have a strict smoking policy in place, which is clearly stated and communicated to all staff and residents. We regularly remind and educate everyone about the harmful effects of smoking and the importance of abiding by the policy.
To ensure compliance, we have designated smoking areas outside the premises where cigarette ends can be properly disposed of. We also regularly clean these areas to maintain cleanliness and prevent any accumulation of cigarette ends. Additionally, we provide wall-mounted ashtrays in these designated areas to encourage proper disposal.
Regarding rudeness and lack of manners towards staff, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards disrespectful behaviour. Our staff undergo training to handle such situations professionally and are encouraged to report any incidents to management. We take immediate action to address and resolve any issues, ensuring that all staff members are treated with respect and courtesy.
Furthermore, we acknowledge the potential fire hazards associated with improper cigarette disposal and the impact on the environment and wildlife. We work closely with relevant authorities, such as the Health and Safety Executive, Environmental Health Officers, and Fire and Rescue, to conduct regular inspections and implement necessary safety measures. This includes enforcing the ban on smoking in public places and ensuring proper disposal of cigarette ends.
Overall, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and smoke-free environment for all residents and staff. We appreciate the feedback and will continue to monitor these concerns in order to provide the best possible experience for everyone involved.
