Hello, my name is Beth and I am the General Manager here at Cumberland Grange.

I joined Cumberland Grange in the 2024 as the Deputy Manager and have since been promoted to General Manager.

I started my career in Care at the age of 17, which was just over 16 years ago now. My passion for Care started at a young age as my parents opened a Care Home when I was just 11 years old. Over the years I have worked in various different roles within the Care sector, gaining lots of valuable knowledge and experience along the way. With everything that I do, our residents always come first. Enriching the lives of those within my care is my priority, ensuring my residents are well cared for and happy and living a life which offers independence with support whenever needed.

My door is always open for my residents, their family members and my team. I am always happy to help with any questions that you may have and if you would like to come and take a look around our wonderful home, please get in touch.

I am incredibly passionate about my role in supporting all of our residents, ensuring they are all well cared for, happy, having fun and thriving. We have a fantastic team of carers and support staff and we are all here to make Cumberland Grange the best care home.

Hi, my name is Mica and I am the Home Services Advisor at Cumberland Grange. My role is to support clients and their loved ones who are looking to make the move into care. It can be a daunting process for many people, but I want to change that. I will do my absolute best to make the journey and process as stress-free and comfortable as possible.

I am incredibly passionate about enriching the lives of our residents and ensuring that they feel a part of our local community. So when I’m not in the home, I will be out and about in the community making some great connections with various charities and organisations.

Hello, my name is Gemma and I am the Home Administrator for Cumberland Grange.

I previously worked in another Barchester home for 3 years as an Admin Assistant, as well as previous experience of caring in the community. I really support and enforce everything that Barchester stands for, as I feel enrichment is so important in everyone’s lives.

Outside of Barchester, I have a love for baking and enjoy travelling to lots of different places.

I am excited to get to know everyone at Cumberland Grange and be a friendly face for residents and family members. Feel free to pop in and say hello, there will be cake and coffee too!

Hello, I’m Natalie and I one of the Admin Assistants/Receptionists here at Cumberland Grange.

I joined the team in June 2023 and I absolutely love working here. The favourite part of my job has to be chatting with the residents, they make me laugh and smile every day.

I am always happy to help and welcome you into our lovely home.

I am a very bubbly and friendly person who loves to help others. I have worked with animals, children, and the special needs sector.

Since 2019 I've worked in the care home sector and I am very happy to be the Receptionist here at Cumberland Grange.

Hi, I'm Carolyn the Community Lead for our Top Floor Community here at Cumberland Grange.

I joined the team in 2023 as a Care Assistant and since then I have been promoted to Senior Care Assistant and now Community Lead. I absolutely love my job and I aim to deliver the very best person-centred care to everyone living with us.

Being with our residents is such a joy and an honour, as I learn all about their lives and the stories they have to share with us all, which are incredible.

Hi, I'm Chris, Head Chef here at Cumberland Grange.

I have a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector, having previously worked in some of Devon's most established restaurants and gastro pubs. My passion is using locally sourced food, and creating daily menus that reflect the great variety of seasonal produce available. Overseeing the kitchen I ensure that every meal my team prepares is always freshly home-cooked, served and presented with care.

I enjoy getting to know all of our new residents, ensuring that I understand their likes, dislikes and preferences and aiming to incorporate all of these into our menu selections. Along with my kitchen team, we strive to create a menu that delivers the home-from-home dining experience that everyone living with us genuinely enjoys.

Outside of work, my passion for cooking continues and I enjoy experimenting with new flavours and recipes for my smoker and BBQ and absolutely love all things baking.

Hi, I'm Chris, Chef at Cumberland Grange.

I’ve over 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector and have worked in a variety of establishments - from boats to bistros.

Working at Cumberland Grange is a real change in direction for me and that’s what I really enjoy about being here, as there is a lot of daily interaction with our residents and they make us all feel so greatly appreciated. I enjoy getting to know all of our residents and their individual dietary needs so that I can produce a personalised dining experience for each of them.

I have a degree in Fine Art, something which I still enjoy practising and outside of work I have a vibrant mixed media art practice.

Hello, my name is Gosia and I am the Activities Co-Ordinator here at Cumberland Grange.

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied Life Enrichment Programme which is full of fun activities for our residents to take part in. We do lots of different activities here which change on a regular basis, including weekly trips out in our mini bus, flower arranging, live musical performances, arts and crafts, cheese and wine nights and so much more. We also have groups which happen every week, mostly lead by our residents, including Poetry Club, Gardening Club, Politics and Pastries, Cumberland Grange Choir and Knit and Natter.

We have monthly resident meetings where we discuss life at Cumberland Grange. We talk about the activities that we currently run, including activities that our residents would like us to incorporate into the planner.

Making wishes come true is also something that we love to do. So, if our resident has a wish, together we try our best to make that happen, because life at Cumberland is about having fun and making even more special memories.

Hello, my name is Bryony and I have recently joined the wonderful team at Cumberland Grange. As a creative individual with a degree in Graphic Communication and Illustration, I'm always looking for innovative ways to express myself. Passionate about food and travel, I love to cook international cuisines and have experience in a variety of hospitality roles. When I'm not cooking up a storm in the kitchen, you can find me playing guitar, or piano, or singing with a jazz band at weddings and gigs.

I'm excited to collaborate with Gosia to design and deliver fulfilling and creative activities that cater to the diverse interests of our residents.

Hi, my name is Matt and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Cumberland Grange. I come from an experienced background previously working as a Housekeeper in 5* Hotels. I love working with people and so making the move into the care sector with my experience is something that I am so pleased I did. Our residents are brilliant and make my job fun.

I have been working for Barchester for nearly 4 years in the maintenance department. I have worked in maintenance on and off for around 15 years and have a background in carpentry and sound engineering.

I also assist in taking our residents out in the minibus for trips out, which I really enjoy.

Hi there, my name is Josh and I am the Maintenance Assistant here at Cumberland Grange. I recently joined the team at the end of summer this year and have really been enjoying getting stuck in and supporting the home with all things Maintenance. I am always on hand to help our residents and families should ever they need me. From putting up our residents’ special pictures on the walls in their rooms to keeping our home looking well maintained inside and out, my role encompasses a lot of different tasks which I thoroughly enjoy.

Hello, I'm Lorna and I've been working in the care sector since 2009 and this is quite simply the best job I've ever had! My career began in the community care sector, supporting people living in their own homes across the mid and east Devon area, first as a carer and then progressing to the role of Care Manager, focusing on producing person-centred care plans for new service users.

My great passion however is to meet and support people and I just love the close personal connections that my role allows me to build with all of our residents. For me, everyone here is just like family and I really value these special relationships that I continue to build with everyone living here on a daily basis.

Hello, my name is Katherine. I work part-time here at Cumberland Grange, as a care assistant.

I started my career in care back in 2015 when I was a nursing auxiliary at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

It was a very rewarding experience and I enjoyed it a lot.

I enjoyed it so much, I decided to start university to become a registered nurse. I joined Barchester in June 2023 during a break of my nursing studies. I really enjoy it here at Cumberland Grange. I often go out on the minibus with the activity ladies and go shopping with the residents to get their favourite snacks or go out to a community coffee morning.

I am still on that nursing degree journey. I shall be returning back in September 2024 to finally qualify which I'm proud of myself. I'll be on a bank contract so you may see me about when I'm on shift.

I really enjoy care work, and I really enjoy bringing a smile to residents faces. See you around.

I'm here to assist Head Chef, Chris and his team in ensuring that our residents have a fantastic dining experience filled with great seasonal variety and choice. Part of my daily role is to bake homemade cakes and treats for our residents which is my real passion and I really put all of my creativity, heart and soul into this - when you love doing something it's such a pleasure!

I have a hospitality background having worked in a number of other well-known establishments, but working here and getting to spend my days with our residents is the most rewarding job that I have had. I am here to make their experience a better one by making sure they have everything they need, whether that’s a luxury hot chocolate, a slice of cake or a good chat. When I’m not with our residents, I am busy keeping our bistro areas and kitchenettes well-stocked and tidy, as well as supporting our chefs throughout the day.
