My dad has been a resident now for quite a few months and I can honestly say the staff have been amazing. Dementia is a horrible disease but all the staff treat my father with the utmost care and respect that we as a family find so heartwarming. Keep up the fantastic work you do. from all our family
a massive thank you.

The manager was absolutely amazing. She supported my family through a really difficult time as my mum died due to dementia. The staff were so caring and I can’t thank them enough. She has turned the place around.

All staff - nursing, housekeeping, maintenance and admin - are always welcoming to me, my family and my dog. They treat us with the same love, care and respect as they give to our relative. Although our relative is unable to express his views verbally regarding his surroundings and care, we feel that
he knows and appreciates the love, care and respect given to him by all levels of staff. Regular staff on the unit who know and understand his day-to-day and hour-to-hour needs are a credit to them. They show empathy, love and care at all times. Numerous staff changes have caused added stress to these valued carers.

I called to see my partner for the first time on Saturday 2nd July 2022 since her move from another home. The home is a lovely newly built home, very spacious inside the rooms, corridor and sitting room. The first thing that hit me was how wonderful all the staff were to me, but also to my partner.
I could tell straight away how happy she was, not like the last home she was in. So I am really pleased that my partner is at Wykewood and would like to say thank you to the staff on my first visit. Thanks.

My brother was in a care home for four years prior to him being transferred to Wykewood. This previous home was not very good for him at all. My family and I were a bit unsure about him being placed miles away but now he's settled in we as a family and also my brother are really pleased he moved here.
The staff are brilliant. I can't thank them enough.

It's a relief to know my brother is being looked after properly. The last place was horrible and we didn't like leaving him. The staff are lovely and always welcoming and they look after my brother well. I don't drive and struggle sometimes to get here but I know that I can phone and check how he is.
I know he can be hard work but at the end of the day, he is still my brother. The staff are ace.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.333)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.333) out of 10 for Wykewood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.958 for Wykewood is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.958

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wykewood is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.25

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
