Blossomfield Rose care home is excellent we have not had the experience of a care home before, but I am really impressed with the home, staff and care received so far. I have been a resident for three months and have greatly improved since being here. This is how a care home should be. 10 out of 10.

We have arranged three weeks of respite care for my mother-in-law. We have been happy so far with the experience. The home is friendly and attentive. There is always someone to chat to regarding likes and wishes of the resident. Nothing is too much trouble.

Mom has been very well looked after here. The staff genuinely care and listen. They put the needs of the residents first and respond to make sure they have what they need. We needed to move my parents into a care home and had previously used another home for respite but weren't happy with the respite care there. Blossomfield Rose was quite new when they moved in. It has wonderful facilities and the people who work there seem caring and genuine. They are proactive in dealing
with issues. It's a difficult time but the home has been a big improvement on having them at home with two carers. We feel they are well cared for. We have been happy with the level and standard of care.

Overall, the staff made my stay very pleasant.
The food was very disappointing for such high-class care home and that is important to you when that is all you have to look forward to when unwell. Also, at times, the food was cold. The selection of the menu was not good.

We are working very hard alongside our residents, to deliver a menu that meets everyone's likes and dislikes and expanding the alternative menu we offer. We have revised the equipment currently used and have upgraded this to remove any issues with the food temperature. On arrival (and for the rest of the week), I was not met or medically assessed by management or senior staff. I spent a lot of my time walking the corridors looking for staff to take my blood pressure and to change my surgical stockings. I ended up making my bed and washing the stockings - when they
could be found! The food was poor and not nutritious - mainly leftover soup and sandwiches. The staff I met were very nice and helpful, but busy. Suggest less money spent on show home image and more on staff training and nutritious food.

Prior to a stay, the team carry out a pre-assessment to establish our residents' needs. This ensures that we can meet our residents' needs and the team are fully aware as to what support is required. There is a welcome pack within each room which provides information as to what to expect during your stay and the manager of the home personally visits all residents and I believe you met the manager throughout your stay. All food is cooked on-site freshly each day and our menus are revised frequently with resident input. It is too early to make meaningful comments, so these are based on a number of visits and with the home only recently opened. There are few residents so there is no real pressure on staff at the moment.

The facilities and environment are first class. The resident's rooms are large and spacious, with furniture that is top quality. The nurses and carers are helpful, pleasant and really try to give individualised care. Everyone working there is focused on giving residents a good experience. We were particularly
pleased with the effort made by all staff to celebrate my aunt's birthday, it was a really lovely afternoon. It is reassuring to be able to speak to the registered nurse on duty on the telephone about any concerns about my aunt when it is not possible to visit the home in person.

My father stayed at Blossomfield Rose for two weeks respite care whilst recovering from an operation. It was a great choice as the staff were lovely, the whole place was spotless, super spacious and brand new. I would highly recommend this to anybody.

My mother spent a week with the Blossomfield Rose team.
She has Alzheimer’s. My heart was warmed by the photo of my mum out in the snow playing snowball throwing with the staff and other residents.
As Mum cannot tell me how her time here was but I could see the difference in her straight away, her
mobility was better and she seemed very relaxed.
The staff were so sweet when she was leaving, giving her lots of hugs. Very refreshing compared to other facilities she has spent time in.

Very pleasant stay of two weeks. Personnel all friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was large and welcoming, but there were faults. No mirror in the bathroom and staff had difficulty returning laundry to owners after washing. The top half of a pair of pyjamas disappeared. I feel some other items may
have gone missing also. Food good, but not inspiring, but chef willing to make special dishes if one did not like what was on the menu.

Very good home. Certainly up with the best in Solihull and the surrounding areas. The strongest points are independence for the residents, which does better than other homes at promoting this. Great grounds for residents to use and flexibility around meals (the chef does whatever he can to accommodate).

Pamela Casey

Job Title: Home Manager

My name is Pam Casey, I am 47 years old, happily married with two adorable teenage kids. My journey in the care industry began at the age of 17 with a one-week work experience, which sparked a passion for care that has defined my career.


I started working as a care assistant after leaving college, quickly progressing to a senior care assistant role, specialising in residential and dementia care.


In my twenties, my husband and I successfully ran a family business for 10 years and after becoming a new mum, I decided to the care sector and try to fulfil a lifelong dream of becoming a mental health nurse.


I gained experience working in hospitals, community support and specialised settings but soon identified that my ultimate passion was in elderly care. ?Subsequent roles as a unit manager in a 106 bedded home and commissioning a 70 bedded care home during the Covid pandemic significantly shaped my approach in how best to implement growth and development within a care setting.


In March 2024, I joined MACC Care and Blossomfield Rose, drawn by its rich history, beautiful location and luxurious amenities. As Home Manager, I am committed to driving Blossomfield Rose from strength to strength and believe that my deep understanding of the care industry, team leadership and ‘people’ skills will underpin the highest quality of service and support to those in need of compassionate care.


Though the lifelong dream of becoming a mental health nurse never happened, the dream in making a difference to people’s lives remains stronger than ever!


Paulo

Paulo Crespo

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2022

Paulo is our Head Chef at Blossomfield Rose.


Paulo joins MACC with a wealth of expertise, starting out his career at Frankie and Benny’s where he was Sous Chef. From there he was Sous Chef at Bills Restaurant before promotion to Head Chef.


He has also enjoyed the time as Breakfast Chef at Hogarths and Chef at The Boat in Catherine-de -Barnes where he managed the kitchens.


We are extremely lucky to have Paulo at Blossomfield Rose, as not only is he a fantastic chef, he is a pleasure to be around with his happy and smiley demeanour.


Nothing is too much trouble and our residents are in for a real treat with his fabulous food and carefully considered menus, catering for all likes and dislikes as well as specific diets and allergies.
