Mum came to Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home for respite when her needs of help at home became too much for me to manage.
We were all made very welcome and offered great support emotionally at a difficult time.
The care staff were so kind and understanding when at times Mum didn’t show great enthusiasm
at being there!
We celebrated her 91st birthday with afternoon tea very kindly provided by Hazel Lodge which included saying cheers with a glass of preschool. A memorable time for us all.
Thank you to Hazel Lodge and all the staff for everything you did for Mum and being so understanding to all her family.

After three weeks of respite care, my mother was ready to go home. Both she and I felt quite sad as her stay at Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home had been such a wonderful break for her. This is an inspiring care home; as a purpose-built facility, everything is laid out with residents and guests in
mind. The rooms, lounges and dining areas are immaculate and the level of care is exceptional. If my lovely mum ever needs a care home again, this is the only place I would want her to be. Beautiful!

The staff were all lovely and caring to the highest standard. Being disabled was not happy with a heavy wet room door. Why do you have to have a fire door when you already have one on the bedroom? Also, heavy water jugs are far too heavy for older people to cope with, if broken could cause an accident
being glass. Having made these comments I would be happy to return to Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home, as I appreciate it has teething problems. Would have been nice to have newspapers and sweet trolley.

Dad stayed at Hazel Lodge for a respite period of four weeks. He enjoyed his stay and found the food to be of an excellent standard and choice. His room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly, courteous and respectful.
The only criticism I have is the poor quality of the mobile phone
signal. This made it difficult at times to communicate with Dad during his stay.

I noticed that you struggled with the mobile phone signal, which is something we are working on in terms of having additional boosters added around the home. I join others with my loved one with dementia once a month at this care home for singing. We are made very welcome, the staff are lovely accommodating fantastic, and the tea coffee and cakes afterwards are excellent. Definitely, my choice when the time comes for care.

My mother came into Hazel Lodge on short-term care at the beginning of May following a collapsed vertebrae. Once the family had all seen it and totally approved in every respect it didn't take much persuading for her to accept that this was the best place for her long term. It is like a 5-star hotel
but with the total care and respect of an extended family. The staff on all levels go out of their way to accommodate whatever is needed, and to assure the residents are happy and healthy, nothing is too much trouble. Whereas she was spending her days on her own with only the TV as company she now has a full daily schedule with something going on every day, Mum tells us all that she is so busy with all the first-class entertainment and thoroughly enjoying it. A perfect home.

I went into Hazel Lodge for two weeks of respite care having recently lost my wife. The staff were very sympathetic to my position and offered care and comfort whenever I required it. The home has only recently opened (November 2022) and although it will happily cater for more residents, everything
looks promising as time goes by. If I were looking for further respite or full-time care in the future I wouldn't hesitate to return to Hazel Lodge Care Home.

I looked at other options before deciding on Hazel Lodge Care Home for my mother. In my opinion, she is very well looked after and I am kept well informed of how things are going. Staff, at all levels and in all professions, are friendly and helpful and I feel that she is in very good hands.

I have been physically and psychologically looked after for 2 weeks. I have found the care staff outstandingly kind and patient, always helpful and reassuring. The place is clean and comfortable. The only criticism I have is that the lighting is not very convenient for a bedbound patient.

My mum went to Hazel Lodge for two weeks of respite care following a fall and short stay in hospital. It was a very difficult time for all of us but Hazel Lodge really helped her get on the road to recovery. The whole process was amazingly easy to set up, I went to see the care home an hour after my
initial enquiry and all the liaison in the logistics of getting my mum there was very smooth.
The facilities are fantastic, it is more like a five-star hotel than a care home. But most importantly the staff were wonderful. Every single person was really kind and took such good care of my mum who was in a lot of pain and very anxious. They really helped her gain confidence so she was ready to come home and continue recovering. They were also brilliant at keeping me informed and always had a cup of tea ready for me when I visited! My mum is already talking about going back for some more respite care when we go on holiday since she felt so well cared for.

What an incredible home on every level. The facilities are exceptional, from the rooms to the communal areas it has the feel of a luxurious, immaculate home.
It offers residents a beautiful environment where they can retain independence whilst having the certainty of the caring staff at hand if needed.
They can visit the hairdresser, the cinema, and the dining room and participate in the many activities if they so wish.
My aunt has flourished since moving to Hazel Lodge Care Home she has stimulation and her every need is catered for, including even her favourite tipple which she can enjoy at both lunch and dinner. I can honestly say that she is extremely happy and looking forward to enjoying the gardens in the warmer months.
The attention to detail here is exceptional, the staff are incredibly caring and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble.
If you are looking for a fabulous home for your loved one I would absolutely recommend Hazel Lodge.

We are delighted that we have found Hazel Lodge Care Home for our dad. Everything is of the highest possible standard and the quality of care is exceptional. Hello my name is Megan, I am the Activities Coordinator here at Hazel Lodge.


I've been working for Hazel Lodge for around two years, I started off as a carer, went on to being a General assistant and now have become the Activities Coordinator. Activities is a great fit for me, The largest and best part of my role is ensuring that all of our residents are engaged and that their lives are enriched. I do this by taking in to account of their life story/history, their interests and hobbies. I work towards and do this to promote their wellbeing. I will go above and beyond for anyone and have continued to do this within my job role.

Everyone loves to see us and I particularly like to sit near the tea trolley. We normally start our visit with a few exercises to keep us moving and then finish with a few quizzical questions to keep our minds stimulated as well.
