My lovely mother-in-law is one of the first residents to stay at Squires Mews Care Home for a week's care. What a lovely welcome she had from all the staff. Squires Mews is outstanding, the staff are marvellous and so welcoming to visiting family too! I have not seen my dear mother-in-law looking so
well and so many smiles on her face. We took her for a walk around the garden today with her new wheels (mobility walker) she loved it, the garden is beautiful. She has enjoyed all the meals, tea and cake and had her hair done in the hair salon today. She looked like a queen, bless her and also enjoyed a bit of horse racing too in the cinema room. Excellent service, lovely friendly staff and a beautiful place to stay. Thank you Squires Mews for the smiles you have given my mum-in-law, your reassurance, care and wonderful service.

Josie Thomas

Job Title: Customer Service Manager

Joined: 2015

Josie has worked for Avery for 8 years, initially at Head office, then moved to Squires Mews in January 2023.


Josie loves working and meeting new residents and their families and getting to know them. Moving into a care home is a big step for the resident and the family so it’s nice to be the welcome face and the point of contact and being able to reassure both parties. Customer service is paramount and I believe doing the little things goes a long way. This could be the welcome gift, remembering details about the family and what is important to the resident means we listen and care. Josie loves her job as Customer Service Manager and hopes this shows in her daily work.


Lorraine

Lorraine Lawrence

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2022

Lorraine joined Squires Mews in December 2022 as an administrator. Lorraine has been an administrator in a care setting for the last 6 years.

My professional background is one of finance administration for the Public sector, managing regional finance teams, handling payment and debt collection, and attaining NVQ level 5 for leadership and project management. This background allows me to fulfil the administrator role and support the rest of the management team.

Lorraine enjoys meeting the new residents and families joining us at Squires Mews and helping them navigate the paperwork involved when moving in. Getting to know our residents and hearing their life stories means we soon feel like a large family living and supporting each other.


Char

Char Bradbury

Job Title: Senior Carer

Joined: 2022

Char is the Head of of Infection Control Link Practitioner at Squires Mews. Char had the privilege of joining Squires in December 2022 as the home prepared to open its doors to Residents and Families. She is currently doing her NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and hopes to progress at Squires.


Char started at her career at Squires as Head Housekeeper and is now a Senior Carer on our Memory floor. Char loves working with the residents, staff and family to make a happy, safe environment for all.
She recently started the Squires Mews Choir and is all for her residents having a good time.


Working in a caring environment no matter what role we Lead; we have the reward of getting to know our residents. Soon to be 59 residents, who they are, their families, their likes and their dislikes, their favourite tipple or tune to sing along to. This is what Char promotes to her team -"We can work, and we can have fun and spend time talking as we work".


Seeing residents smile is what makes Char's job worthwhile, it can be a life-changing experience from what they are used to and if we can make that step a little easier for both residents and their families to feel supported and welcomed, we can ensure that we can all add a little shine to each other lives.


Natalie

Natalie Norman

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2022

Natalie joined Avery in December 2022 as Deputy Manager. Natalie has worked in the care industry for over 20 years in various different roles gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge.


Natalie enjoys passing her knowledge on to other team members and is proud to be part of the Squires Mews team and watching the home grow.


Natalie enjoys welcoming new residents and getting to know them and their families. Natalie loves her job in the care sector and is pleased to be part of the team.


Nigel

Nigel Bird

Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Joined: 2022

Nigel joined Squires Mews in December 2022.


He is responsible for the maintenance and care of the building and all the odd jobs that need doing alongside checking all the standards are up to date.


Nigel has worked in various care environments doing various roles from Management to training and Head of Estates.


He enjoys the variety of his role and enjoys having a chat with the residents and staff.


Lucie

Lucie

Job Title: Clinical Lead

Joined: 2024

Lucie has worked for Avery for 14 years with a small break in various roles and Homes. She joined Squires Mews in January 2024. Lucie started as a care assistant, went on to be a Senior and Deputy. She enjoys working with the staff and interacting with the residents and their families.


In Lucie's spare time she likes to spend time with her family and two grown up daughters. When she is not doing that Lucie enjoys a glass of pinot with her friends.


Lucie is looking forward to working at Squires.


Heidi

Heidi Smith

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2015

Heidi has worked for Avery for 10 years in various roles but has been a registered Manager for 7 years. She has worked in the Healthcare industry for 30 years.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She always looks forward to her annual family holiday to Cornwall.
Her favourite colour is pink and she loves music, her favourite being Reggae.
