I wanted to share my opinion on The Rowans.
After the medical team told us Mum needed to have 24-hour Dementia nursing. I knew I had to find the best home for mum.
Mum's needs are met with care. And this is most important to me.
I see Mum nearly every day. And I always feel welcome. It's a very
very emotional time for mum and my family.
If you are looking at nursing homes.
You will not be disappointed.

My mum has been in another care home for three years, she moved to The Rowans mid December, in that time the difference in her has been unbelievable, she is smiling, talking and just overall in such a better place in herself, she is more relaxed and nowhere as near as anxious as she was. The staff are
outstanding they go above and beyond to make life the best it can be for my mum, I was constantly worried when she was at the old care home l was phoning daily and visiting daily. Now even though I call as often as I can I have no worries whatsoever when I am not there because I know Mum is being cared for so well, she is cleaner, happier, even her shaking has subsided so much and I really think this is due to her feeling more at home. I cannot recommend The Rowans enough if you have a family member who is in need of support don’t look further than The Rowans, you won’t find anywhere better as a place and the staff are amazing Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My dad has been in The Rowans for just over 4 weeks, and I have seen a massive difference in him in that time. Dad was frail and lost his confidence, he’s put on half stone in that time, eating everything they give him and his sense of humour has come back, all the staff say how funny and witty he is
which makes me very happy. Before dad went into Rowans I was visiting him every day and staying for many hours, and now I don’t feel guilty leaving after a couple of hours and having a day off, because I know he is being looked after like royalty, if anyone is looking for a place for their love one The Rowans is the best place.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.477)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.477) out of 10 for The Rowans is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Rowans is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.477 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Rowans is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.227

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
