The Manor at St Catherine’s is located on the grounds of the dementia care home St Catherine’s in Shipton, York. This ground-breaking home offers a space entirely dedicated to people who live with young onset dementia. It is the first of its kind in the region, and only one of a handful in the UK.

The Manor has been designed to meet the unique needs of those who live with young onset dementia. This is shown in the design and layout of the home, the activities on offer, and the care and support provided for residents. The home offers a unique environment where clients are surrounded by other younger, like-minded individuals.

The Manor has 11 private, dementia-friendly, fully-furnished, en-suite bedrooms. There is also a fully fitted, dementia-sensitive kitchen, enabling clients to be independent in a safe and secure manner. A lovely spacious lounge and dining room doubles-up as an activities lounge and Cinema Lounge. The Manor has its own private garden with activities area and sporting equipment, perfect for keeping active and for hosting events.   

Each member of the team has been chosen for their empathy, understanding and expertise. All current and new members of staff undertake advanced dementia training to truly be specialists in their field.

The Manor offers day care, respite stays and permanent placements. The day care services operate seven days a week and run through from 8am to 6pm, with entirely flexible pick-up and drop-off times depending on your needs.

Lee Dale

Job Title: Senior Manager - Dementia Services

Joined: 2021

Lee has worked in the health and social care sector since 2004. Within this time, he has covered many roles working his way up from Care Assistant and previously a Peripatetic and Turnaround Manager before becoming Home Manager at St George’s, Glenholme House and Eighton Lodge. Lee currently is the Senior Manager at our dedicated dementia homes, St Catherine’s and our young onset dementia home, The Manor at St Catherine’s.


Having worked in care management for 10 years, managing his first home at the age of 24, Lee brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in residential, dementia and nursing care.


Qualifications include:
- NVQ Levels 2, 3 & 5
- Level 3 Administration of Medication
- Moving & Handling Train the Trainer
- Basic Life Support Train the Trainer

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2021

Having worked in the care sector for 14 years before joining Wellburn, Kalee brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in providing excellent residential care.


Kalee’s journey with Wellburn Care Homes started in November 2021 as Deputy Manager at Ryton Towers care home. As of 2024, Kalee is now the Home Manager of Eighton Lodge, and our young onset dementia home The Manor at Eighton Lodge.
