Katrina Austin

Job Title: Deputy Manager

My role at Merriman Grange is to support the team and ensure that the care our residents receive is tailored to their needs. My past experience has been within the care sector including working as the Registered Manager of a nursing facility for the last 10 years. I have achieved the following qualifications: an Award in Education and Training; Level 5 in Leadership and Management; and Level 5 with the Chartered Institute of Professional Development.

Working in the care sector is so rewarding and it's a great honour to be able to support people to live their best life, and support residents’ loved ones. It’s such a great environment to be in. You get to hang out with the most amazing people and there is so much opportunity to develop your skills.

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. For fun, my husband and I take part in fundraising challenges every year. We’ve completed the Great South Run and the Sutton Fun Run in aid of various charities. There’s always a great atmosphere!

Job Title: Home Admissions Advisor

As Home Admissions Advisor I am the first point of contact for anyone considering becoming a resident at Merriman Grange. I work together with families and friends to ensure that their loved one’s move into our welcoming care home is as smooth as possible.

The needs and comfort of the residents are at the centre of everything we do. The transition from home or hospital into a care setting can be daunting and emotional.

Together with my colleagues, I work hard to provide support and reassurance to everyone involved in the process.

I joined the care sector in 2021 in the middle of the pandemic. I have worked in customer-facing roles for most of my career, leading service teams to deliver the best possible experience to clients. After several months of working from home in 2020, I felt the need for a more fulfilling position and joined a care provider based in Bucks. I have been a Home Admissions Advisor ever since. Now a resident of Worthing, I am delighted to represent Merriman Grange and Cinnamon Care within Worthing and the surrounding communities.

Job Title: Administrator

I’m really excited to be part of the Merriman Grange team from the very beginning. I will be looking after all administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the home and I look forward to getting to know all of our new residents.

I’ve had a very varied career both on land and up in the sky. I spent 15 years in Sydney and when I returned to the UK, I moved to Cornwall where I spent 7 years as an Administrator in a local Care Home.

Now our family have moved back to Sussex, I’m delighted to bring my care environment knowledge & experience to this role at Merriman Grange.

Away from work, I enjoy watching most sports, avidly supporting Brighton & Hove Albion, spending time with my family and taking long walks in the Sussex countryside with my beautiful dog Prince Paddy.
