Kingfishers care home is situated in New Milton only a few miles from the New Forest and the cliff top and beach at Barton-On-Sea.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

The home offers residential and nursing care and has single bedrooms with en-suite facilities, private telephones, flat-screen televisions and internet access as standard.

The reception area at the home provides residents with views onto the dining room and garden.

Residents and visitors can access an on-site cafe, serving tea, coffee and homemade cakes.

The main lounge area provides access to landscaped gardens, complete with covered areas allowing residents to enjoy the gardens all year round.

I am very comfortable here and feel secure after finding it difficult to manage at home whilst waiting for an operation with my husband having dementia. We are both happy and it is certainly the right place for us.

Since arriving, I was welcomed, the staff are kind and helpful and there is a homely atmosphere. The food is excellent and Kingfishers is very recommendable.
I am recovering from a major operation and my room is perfect for me with activity to be seen from my lovely window.

I was nervous about my first experience of respite care. On my first day, I was made so welcome by staff and residents. I soon felt at home and at ease. Daily activities were great fun and very festive at this time of the year. I have enjoyed all activities and every single day has been wonderful.
I
have no complaints about the staff only praise.
My experience at Kingfishers home has been truly wonderful.

Since I have been staying in Kingfishers, I have really enjoyed my stay. The staff are so helpful, friendly and happy. I feel as though I am on holiday! I have been able to relax and enjoy myself, enjoying the atmosphere when I can read my books. One of the things I love most is having my food cooked
for me and meeting other people and staff.

Overall, Kingfishers seems an excellent facility. Unfortunately, like most care homes, they are short staffed and this sometimes shows. Since the recent change of management, the home appears much improved, communications are better, as is the general atmosphere. I think the food could possibly be more
varied and is rather bland at times. All the staff I am in contact with are wonderful.

Both parents stayed for 2 weeks respite. I had peace of mind that they were safe and cared for. They were very apprehensive beforehand but made friendships with staff and other residents. Food was excellent and they joined in activities which suited them. Instant attention when called for help which
was particularly important for my mum at night.

Every single member of staff at Kingfishers Care Home looked after my beloved beautiful mum with exceptional care right up until the time she passed on just 2 days ago. It is with much gratitude that I write this as I know she was happy in the last seven months of her life and was part of this unique
family. The dedication and compassion are astounding and have made it so much easier knowing she was so cared for, had some fun and had a sense of belonging. I will miss the staff and the residents as they also felt like part of my own family and would like to thank each and every one of them as they make such a huge difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I have only got praise for this outstanding care/nursing home.
My mother spent 3 months at Kingfishers during which time the care was exemplary.
The staff were incredibly kind to my mother, me and also to our wider family.
They looked after my mother wonderfully well, ensuring she was extremely
well cared for with compassion and dignity to the end.
A wonderful team from the receptionists through to the manager.
I cannot thank them enough.

My 95-year-old mum had a miserable time in a second-floor room which was very hot. Two days to get a fan. Not allowed to move to ground floor room until after isolation. When I queried this with the manager I was told I was ‘very rude’ and had the phone put down on me.
One night mum was not given a
prescribed sleeping pill as they had run out. No apology was given for this negligence.
Many staff had a ‘take it or leave it’ attitude and a smugness about their ‘outstanding’ QCC (from 2019 pre-Covid).
Was only too pleased when her convalescent stay was over.

Thank you for your review. My team acted quickly in providing a fan due to the temperature in the room. Another room was reserved on the ground floor for your mum once isolation was completed. On discharge from hospital, it was noted that medication was missing. This was ordered immediately. Whilst in isolation your mum had a daily visit from the companionship team. She was also accompanied into the garden every day which she enjoyed. Her individual preference was large print books which were sourced. Once isolation ended your mum was a regular attendee to activities. She enjoyed group activities such as armchair dance. She also enjoyed a minibus trip out. She loved the garden and spent lots of time outside. She also enjoyed her meals in the dining room with the company of others. I remain proud of my Outstanding rating with CQC and the work my team do to meet the needs of all of our residents.

You are supported by health professionals when you come into the world. Making it so reassuring in death that you have the health professionals around you again but with the extra support from all members of staff at Kingfishers. They have become supportive family to us for weeks, being able to visit
mum every day always with a smile, joke, hug, and a cup of tea when we needed it. Although, it’s a difficult time with covid nothing has ever been too much trouble. Mum was so well looked after, she kept her dignity, had a smile on her face, and a thank you to all members of staff. We were reassured she must have been very happy. A big thank you to every single member of staff, especially to the 2 members of staff who welcomed us with our first smile, to the lead health care assistant for going above and beyond with mum's care. Also, 2 nurses in particular for their knowledge and support in such difficult times, and to another member of staff who was terribly kind and understanding.
