Crossley House warmly welcomes anyone in need of residential care, including those living with dementia, Huntington’s or Parkinson’s.

Located close to the village of Thornton, the home boasts excellent accommodation and facilities including pleasant and spacious interiors, private gardens, a hairdressing and beauty salon plus a shop and excellent social areas with a residents bar and dining bistros. All bedrooms come with en-suite facilities and premier rooms are also available for those looking for a larger living space.

Meal times are an important part of the day at Crossley. Residents can enjoy delicious home-cooked food with the company of others in the pleasant dining room or in private. Every month, there are themed meals for a bit of extra fun.

The home plans plenty of favourites into the menus, but also talks to each resident on arrival about likes and dislikes, and any special dietary needs. All dietary preferences and requirements are discussed regularly. Out of hours snacks and refreshments are also available from the Bupa night bite menu.

Activity areas support personal interests and a healthy daily lifestyle, while carers are available throughout the day and night. Regular activities include exercise classes, crafts, quizzes and games, cooking and painting.

My uncle has been a resident in Crossley House for the last 4 months - he has always been an anxious man, an introvert, and has found it hard coming to terms with his reduced health and mobility, and therefore has found it hard to settle. The staff have been caring, kind and encouraging and therefore
I have nothing but praise for them. The rooms are small but adequate, everything is kept clean, fixtures and furniture are new and well-maintained (apart from his chest of drawers which is a bit flimsy). Only mild criticism: overall a bit too clinical, could be more homely.

My mum has been in Crossley House for a couple of years and I have found the care she has received very good. Mum suffers with dementia and all that incurs, the care assistants do a great job looking after her in what at times must be very trying. Crossley House also gives the residents entertainment
in the form of activities staff, who are also first class.

Mum went to live at Crossley House in July and the last three months have been excellent. She is so well looked after by strong teams of very caring people, managed by a very hands-on and caring management team. She is happier than she has been for several years, due I am sure to this calm but busy
place and the attention of such dedicated people. There are a lot of activities which Mum enjoys. Communication with the family is excellent. I could not fault the home.

Although my mother could be difficult at times, she was always treated by the staff with patience and care. She was always greeted in a friendly manner by all staff, including management and cleaners.
The residents are kept entertained with a regular program of activities. It was always a pleasure
to see my mum's smiling face on their social media page.
However, minor maintenance issues with the room would sometimes take a while to resolve, but in the scheme of things this is only a minor complaint.

I would highly recommend Crossley House. The staff and home was perfect for my mum, who stayed with them for two weeks respite care. We visited first to make sure they could meet my mum's needs and to look around. Crossley House welcome visits and ensure that you have all the right information to make

My Auntie moved to Crossley House when her previous care home closed. A move like this had the potential to be very upsetting but it was managed expertly and the care and welcome she received meant she settled in very quickly and accepted her new surroundings. Had this not been the case she would certainly
have let me know!
They helped her celebrate her 100th Birthday by organising a lovely buffet, with a cake and all the trimmings and the use of old-fashioned china crockery which did not go unnoticed by her. My Auntie passed away eight months after moving but I wanted to acknowledge the respect, care and professionalism shown to her and I cannot thank all the staff enough for providing such a peaceful and safe home for her right through to her end-of-life care.
I was also very impressed with the administration staff who were extremely approachable and efficient right from the start which was a big help to me personally. I would highly recommend Crossley House Care Home.

The care shown to my mother during her stay at Crossley House has been exemplary. During the few weeks she has resided at the home, she has been cared for with patience, kindness and genuine compassion. I have also witnessed this devotion extended to the individual needs of other residents. All staff
and residents are guided to consider all to be one family in the home by strong effective leadership. The carers liaised well with district nurses and other medical practitioners to ensure my mother's end-of-life care was performed diligently and with dignity and empathy.

From the first day when Mum was accepted due to a family emergency, she was looked after, cared for and made to feel welcome. All the staff are tremendous, I wish I could name them all but so many of them look after Mum with respect, dignity and care and nothing is too much trouble. They are all so
friendly, very approachable, fun, chatty and helpful. I feel my mum is safe in their hands.

If you are considering a placement for your relative I cannot recommend Crossley House enough. The staff both administrators and the caregivers, daytime and night time without exception were capable, considerate and professional. The carers are highly efficient regarding personal care needs and also
provided every kind of emotional support when needed. Visiting the home was a pleasant experience. It was always clean and had a calm, welcoming atmosphere.
For four years, my brother was a resident and we never had any complaints. He was always well-groomed.
During the period of the Corvid 19 isolation the staff made arrangements for frequent facetime calls these calls brought us a great degree of comfort.
The staff always worked to ensure that each person was involved with appropriate, individualized activities.
In his final weeks and at the time of his passing staff were compassionate, caring, and professional in their support to us. A wonderful team.

It was with a heavy heart, with no other option, that we placed Dad into Crossley House in December 2022. It was the most awful time of my life. However, I can not speak highly enough of the management and the staff for all the care they provided to Dad and all the support they gave to me and our family.
It became my home away from home. The entertainment provided to the residents was fantastic, especially at Christmas. Unfortunately, we have now lost Dad, but the care and respect shown to him and us during his stay will stay with me forever. I actually miss going down to visit.

My mother required a care home in 2016 after independent living became too challenging. Crossley immediately presented itself as a calm, clean environment with professional and homely qualities. My mother settled in quickly and this was her home until her passing in December 2022. Throughout that time,
the staff have always been kind, considerate, patient and caring. It was reassuring to know that my mother's needs were being addressed and that she was in a safe place. She made friends and had opportunities to socialise or stay quietly in her room. The dining room impressed, with table service and menu choices arranged for her dietary needs, her room was private, and comfortable, with space for personal items and views across the valley. I am satisfied that she was happy, and all credit to the care team whose hard work is appreciated.

As I have stated below with my options, Crossley House Care Home is a lovely friendly warm home, as soon as you walk in you are greeted by lovely staff, warm smiles and a nice clean bright modern environment for the residents. You feel welcome it's like an extended family. My father-in-law was looked
